2 The Growth of True Knowledge... Do you know that we are held accountable for what we know about God s Word? How about what we don t know? 2 Peter 1:11 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be mul plied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corrup on that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance pa ence; and to pa ence godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfrui ul in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgo en that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren give diligence to make your calling and elec on sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlas ng kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Christ s Coming... 2 Peter 3:1-4, This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I s r up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking a er their own lusts, And Saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things con nue as they were from the beginning of the crea on. Verse 8 says, But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Concluding Appeal... 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 3:17-18 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen. 3 What is the opposite of fear? Peace... Understanding peace requires an understanding of fear as they are opposites. There is a natural fear which God has put into each person to prevent us from hur ng ourselves or ac ng foolish. For example, fear keeps us from ge ng close to the edge of a cliff or walking out into traffic. But there is also a fear of God. This is a good kind of fear where we have reverence for God. Fear is an unpleasant emo on caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, like to cause pain or a threat. Fear is a formidable foe that we must face and overcome if we are to live a victorious Chris an life. Fear is a powerful paralyzer. If you have ever been held in fear s icy, disabling grip, you know how fear works to prevent you from taking steps of faith that will propel you forward in your walk with God. Fear is not of God. II Timothy 1:7 states For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. Some of the things that paralyze us are fear of rejec on, failure, illness, financial loss, being alone, aging, death, disapproval, abandonment and not being loved. When these thoughts creep into our mind, we must replace it with our trust in the Lord. Remember that fear cannot stand in the presence of faith. [Rediscovering Faith] There are four steps to overcoming your fear. 1) Face your fear. Name your fear and call it out before God asking the Lord to remove it. God will then give you the power to overcome that fear. 2) Don t feed your fear. Stop dwelling on it. If you keep saying your afraid of something, that is exactly what your mind will focus on. Stop nursing and rehearsing them because that gives them unnecessary power over you. 3) Fight your fear. Rise up and put the armor of the Lord on. Conquer fear with the sword of the Spirit, God s Word. 4) Focus your faith. Psalm 56:3 says, What me I am afraid, I will trust in thee. We walk without fear when we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Peace is not the absence of strife and turmoil, but rather the presence of faith in God knowing He is with you and will never leave you. He will always work things our for your good (Romans 8:28). The STGMA Board of Directors and Officers are working hard to support our members, but we need your help to do so. There are two cri cal elements that would help us immensely. The first is renewing your 2019 membership any me between now and 12/1/18 allowing us to plan accordingly and afford our members the most publicity we can. We have difficulty comple ng a concert schedule if we don t know who to schedule. The second thing is that we keep our website and membership files up to date. We know that, other than Soloists, make up of group membership can change from year to year or even more o en than that. Also, things like phone numbers, points of contact, addresses and website informa on. So, at this renewal me, we d like to ask you to update all per nent informa on regarding your group members. This can be done in several ways. One way is to download an Ar st Membership or Ar st Membership renewal applica on from STGMA.ORG, update as appropriate and include along with renewal check. You may also send an or le er. Last and least preferable is by phone or text. We will accept your informa on in most any manner, just as long as we get the info. We want to support you, but it s difficult if we don t have your correct/current ministry informa on. KEY POINTS: Renew with dues payment between now and no later than 12/1/18. Ar sts renewing a er 12/1/18 will not be considered for the 2019 Concert Schedule. ($50/Member & $15/Associate) Provide your current ministry informa on and point of contact. Concerts will generally be scheduled for the last Saturday of each month. Provide us with your 1st and 2nd date preferences. We accept PayPal via our website.
