THE DESIGN ON THE FRONT OVER of this service folder is a contemporary form of the Jerusalem ross (also known as the rusader s ross). This ancient hristian symbol consists of one large cross with four smaller crosses in each quadrant. The five crosses together stand for the five wounds afflicted to hrist s body at His crucifixion. The four smaller crosses represent the Four Evangelists. They are arranged to symbolize that the Gospel is to be proclaimed to the four corners of the world. This design was selected because of its significance to the Holy Ministry s focus That repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His Name to all nations (St. Luke 24:47 ESV) -6-

8 The Reverend David L. Adler was born at the historic Naval Medical enter in Portsmouth, Virginia on February 18, He was baptized at Redeemer Ev. Lutheran hurch in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was catechized and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran hurch in Lake Worth, Florida. He was ordained into the Office of Holy Ministry on June 10, Pastor Adler is a 1973 graduate of oncordia University/Austin, TX (where he met his wife, Peggy), a 1975 graduate of oncordia Senior ollege/fort Wayne, IN (B.S.), and a 1979 graduate of oncordia Seminary/St. Louis, MO (M.Div.). He served a year of vicarage (pastoral internship) in McAllen, Texas. He has over 30 years of extensive study and counseling experience in Family Systems Theory, over 40 years of experience in Youth Ministry, and has published Youth Ministry resources. Pastor Adler is married to Peggy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. lark of Sagerton, Texas. They were married on August 11, 1974, at Zion Lutheran hurch, Abilene, Texas. They have two children, Anna (who lives in Elkhart with her husband, Jeremy, and children, olton, Emma and Jenna) and hristopher (who lives in Dallas with his wife, Amanda). Rev. Adler most recently served as ampus haplain at oncordia University in Ann Arbor, MI ( ). In that role he also functioned as Faculty Advisor for all Spiritual Life and Youth Ministry activities on ampus. He also served as Director of the Pre-Seminary Program and as Special Assistant to the University President for hurch Relations. He was a Faculty member in the School of Adult and ontinuing Education, teaching undergraduate courses in Ethics, New Testament, Foundations of hristianity, and Leadership. In 2006 he moved to West Palm Beach, FL to care for his parents who were in poor health and could no longer manage for themselves. He felt the need to transition to part-time pastoral ministry so that he could assist them in their home for as long as possible. While caring for his parents he was able to serve as Vacancy Pastor at both Faith Lutheran hurch in Ft. Lauderdale ( ) and at Redeemer Ev. Lutheran hurch in West Palm Beach ( ). Before his service in Ann Arbor and Florida, he spent 22 years in pastoral ministry in Texas ( ); the last 18 of which was in the greater Houston area. He served Trinity & Faith in Pecos & Ft. Stockton (a dual parish with a preaching station in Alpine); Living Word in The Woodlands, and St. Matthew-Westfield in Houston. The Adlers moved to Elkhart in February Pastor Adler has served Bethlehem as Vacancy Pastor since June
