Attachments this week: *Advent Calendar *Partners in Faith (scroll down) Sacraments: Confirmation: Confirmation dates are Friday, April 28, 2017 and Saturday, April 29, All applications MUST be accompanied by the sponsor s certificate of eligibility. There is NO photo release this year, as that was already taken care of on everyone s re-registration forms. Dates to Remember: Sunday, December 4, 2016: Confirmation Presentation 12:30pm Mass. The children were given script in class. They should bring these to the Mass. Saturday, March 25, 2017: Confirmation Student Retreat. All Confirmation students will attend the retreat from 9:00am 1:00pm. Please be aware that this date has been changed!! First Holy Communion: We are continuing to accept applications. Space is available at ALL Masses at this time. Remember: You will be notified ONLY if we cannot honor the Mass you request! Penance: First Penance for our second graders will be held February 21 st and 22 nd, The children will receive with their PREP class at the normal PREP time. Living the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy This is the last week to make a donation to Mrs. Higgin s class hat and glove (clothe the naked) and book collection (instruct the ignorant) collection. Bins will be locatd in the school lobby during all PREP class sessions during the month of November. Please see the attached flyer for more specifics! Visiting the Sick During the month of November, Mrs. Higgin s 4 th graders will also be taking a field trip to the hospital to visit the sick on December 14 th. Look for permission slips to be coming home or ed to you shortly. More details will follow! Cherub Choir It s that time of year again! Come join the Cherub Choir for Christmas Eve 4 pm Mass! Children in PK (4) through Grade 3 are welcome to join this group to make the Christmas Eve children s Mass special. Cherubs will sing just prior to the 4:00 pm Mass (approximately 3:30 pm). Practices will be held on Monday, December 12 th from 6:00-7:00 AND Sunday, December 18 th from 4:00 5:00pm in the Church. Advent: A Time of Preparation In the Catholic Church, Advent is a period of preparation, extending over four Sundays, before Christmas. The word Advent comes from the Latin advenio, "to come to," and refers to the coming of Christ. This refers, first of all, to our celebration of Christ's birth at Christmas; but second, to the coming of Christ in our lives through grace and the Sacrament of Holy Communion; and finally, to His Second Coming at the end of time. Our preparations should have all three comings in mind as we prepare our souls to receive Christ worthily. The Saint Andrew Christmas Novena Is often called simply the "Christmas Novena" or the "Christmas Anticipation Prayer," because it is prayed 15 times every day from the Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle (November 30) until Christmas. It is an ideal Advent devotion; the First Sunday of Advent is the Sunday closest to the Feast of Saint Andrew. Prayed as a family, the Saint Andrew Christmas Novena is a very good way to help focus the attention of your children on the Advent season. Saint Andrew Christmas Novena Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! To hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.
