2 We are glad you are here to worship at Trinity Church. This booklet will serve as a map for the Eucharist here during the season of Eastertide, the 50 days period between Easter Sunday and the great feast of Pentecost. Each Sunday has its own two-page outline. You may wish to refer to the Book of Common Prayer (in the pew racks) to follow the liturgical text. The Gloria, sung just after the opening hymn, comes from the front section of the Hymnal 1982, marked with an S in front of the number. The hymns will also be found in this book. Other service music may be found on the back cover of this booklet. We invite you to sing with energy Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Other information about the parish may be found in the back pages. But you don t need to make Judaism look bad in order to make Christianity look good. A self-described Yankee Jewish feminist who teaches in a predominantly Christian divinity school in the buckle of the Bible Belt, Levine is the author of many books, including the bestselling The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus and The Meaning of the Bible: What the Jewish Scriptures and the Christian Old Testament Can Teach Us (co-authored with Douglas Knight). She is also the editor of The Jewish Annotated New Testament. In this session, Levine will help us to understand Jesus and in the context of Jewish identity in ancient Palestine, as well as examine 2,000 years of misconceptions between Christians and Jews.
