2 5 Performance Notes Part I calls for twentyeight singers split into two choirs of unequal size. Choir I stands in an equidistant circle in front of Choir II, mimicking the spacing of the ten medallions found in the frame of the convex mirror in Jan van Eyck s he rnolfini Double Portrait. Each singer in Choir I is given a specific position in the circle (see diagram below). he entrances of specific voices correspond to an overall symmetrical design and must not be varied in any way. hese entrances are indicated in the score by rabic numerals corresponding to each singer s position. ext changes in the parts for Choir I are indicated by Roman numerals and the translation of the Italian text into English.
