7 The Synaxarion On December 2 in Holy Orthodox Church we commemorate Holy Prophet Habakkuk. At thine end, O Habakkuk, expiration, God strengned thy feet, even as thou saidest. On second, Habakkuk went up city God. Habakkuk was son Asaphat from tribe Simeon. He prophesied coming Christ 600 years His Nativity, during time King Manasseh, foreld destruction Jerusalem. When Nebuchadnezzar, King Babylon, attacked Jerusalem, Habakkuk sought refuge in l Ishmaelites. From re he returned Judea, where he lived as a farmer. One day he was carrying lunch workers in fields, when suddenly an angel Lord appeared him said: Go carry dinner that thou hast in Babylon un Daniel, who is in lion s den. But Habakkuk responded: Lord, I never saw Babylon; neir do I know where den is. Then angel ok him by hair instantly brought him Babylon, lion s den, where Daniel had been cast by King Cyrus as a punishment for not worshiping idols. Daniel ok dinner which God had sent him (Daniel 14:34-37). Then angel God again ok Habakkuk back his field in Judea. He died at an old age. His relics were discovered in Palestine during reign Theodosius Great. On this day, we also commemorate Martyr Habib New; Martyr Myrope Chios; Venerable John, Heraclemon, Theophilos Andrew Egypt; Martyr Stephen Urosh, Serbian king; Venerable Ioannikios Devitch. 10 Nominating Committee The Parish Nominating Committee is currently taking submissions for anyone interested in serving on Parish Council. The Nominating Committee this year consists Nancy McNeil (Chair), Kathy Cox, Karen Graham. In January, we will be selecting 3 parish council members need at least 6 nominees for selection. All qualified willing cidates need submit ir name in writing anyone serving on Nominating Committee. Qualification for selection Parish Council: A Cidate must be twenty-five (25) years age or over, have been a Voting Member parish for a period two (2) years have fulfilled Canonical requirements Faith. Kitchen Supplies There is a list in kitchen supplies needed. Please check it occasionally so that we can keep our kitchen supplies scked. 11 Fundraising Ideas If you have parish fundraising ideas, please provide m in form a written proposal Donna Manitzas or Fr. Patrick. Sunday School Collection On first Sunday every month, kids will be taking up a collection at end service help fund Sunday School expenses. Sunday School takes place after Communion. We now have 4 levels two accommodate our growing parish, expenses are growing! Orthodox Christian Fellowship (College Ministry) OCF will be meeting on Thursday evenings at 7:00. Patrick or Magdalayna if you are interested. Please see Fr. Monday Monday is Fr. Patrick s scheduled day f. Unless it s an emergency, please save all s, texts, phone calls for Tuesday through Sunday. Choir Practice Choir practice is on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm. If you are interested in singing, please contact Tim Heckenlively. This is a great opportunity serve Church is really appreciated by everyone. And remember, hosting cfee hour only means that you promise bring light refreshments for everyone.
