7 The Reverend Father Alwin Hyndman 20 November REQUIESCAT IN PACE The Reverend Father Leander Alwin Hyndman, Oratory of Our Lady of the Nativity Old Catholic Mission in Port Kells, Surrey, BC, passed away on Monday, 13, at his home. He was 80 years old, married to Susanne née Linford on 16 September 1998 at St. Raphael s Old Catholic Church, Vancouver BC. Father Alwin was born on November 20, 1937 in Ottawa, Ontario, baptized on February 13, 1938 at St. Mary s Church, Kerrisdale, Vancouver, BC, and confirmed December 1951, by the Rt. Rev. Godfrey Gower at St. Alban s Church, Burnaby, BC. Ordained Deacon September 12, 1999, ordained to the Priesthood December 18, 1999, each time by Bishop J. Ge rard A. LaPlante of the Old Catholic Church of BC. Father Alwin worked as a professional in the health care field and provided living quarters for handicapped people. He served as a Chaplain at Surrey Memorial Hospital, BC. His monthly letters concerning Church history and life at Our Lady of Nativity Old Catholic Oratory were regularly published and read by many. He is survived by his wife Susanne, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
