2 Opening Prayer & The Lord s Prayer (in unison) You gather us from our separate lives, Great God, to hear your word and respond to your revealing. You have appointed us for the work of your church. We seek your guidance, your wisdom, your way. Help us to perceive and understand your law, and then to follow you faithfully, as your people. Bind us together with you in worship, and transform us from distinct persons into the Body of Christ, alive with your Spirit in this place, working together in harmony just as we pray together as one voice saying: Our Father Amen. Prayer Of Dedication (in unison) Bless, O Lord, these gifts and offerings, that they may be a sign of our intent to serve you. Use them and us to bring good news to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, and bring wholeness and healing to all who are hurting and oppressed. If one of your people suffers, we all suffer; but if one of your people is honoured, we all rejoice together, in your name. Amen. We Gather at the Table Communion Hymn #467 One Bread, One Body (verses solo) Invitation to the Table One: Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, ALL: for we all partake of the one bread. One: In Christ, God breaks down the walls that make us strangers to ourselves, and divide us from one another. ALL: We are the body of Christ. One: At this table we bear witness to our faith. ALL: At this table, God brings wholeness out of brokenness, and healing to our world. One: Let us break bread together. Prayer of Great Thanksgiving One: The Holy One is here. 5 LIFE AND WORK OF THE CHURCH Centennial United Church Land Acknowledgement Statement: For thousands of years, First Nations people have walked on this land; their relationship with the land is at the centre of their lives and spirituality. We are gathered to worship on the traditional territory of the Anishinabek (ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᒃ), Anishinaabe and the Huron-Wendat peoples and we acknowledge their stewardship of this land throughout the ages. We seek a new relationship with the Original Peoples of this land, one based in honour and deep respect. Thank you to The United Church of Christ Worship Ways material used and adapted for use in our service of worship this morning. USED CHRISTMAS CARDS Cards are still welcome for the Sunday School. Sign-up sheets are at the back of the church. UPDATE FROM FINANCE COMMITTEE Unfortunately the Committee must report that we are starting the New Year with a deficit of over $14,000 from last year. If anyone has any fundraising ideas we are open to suggestions. CENTENNIAL S ANNUAL MEAT PIE SALE We will be making about 1100 Chicken and Beef pies on Monday and Tuesday January 28 th and 29 th. Anyone who is available to help either day is welcome, keeping in mind the old adage many hands make light work. the 5: deep pies with lids are $4.00 each and can be picked up fresh after 12:00noon on Tuesday, please bring your own trays/boxes to carry your pies home. To volunteer to help or order pies please call Maxine Coutts-Reid at CENTENNIAL WOMEN Will hold their February meeting at Blue Mountain Manor on Wednesday February 13 at 2:00pm. Those attending are invited to bring a treasured item or a special story that can be shared with the group in an old-fashioned "Show & Tell".
