TROPARIA (Tone 1) When the stone had been sealed by the Jews, / while the soldiers were guarding Thy most pure body, / Thou didst rise on the third day, O Savior / granting life to the world. / The powers of heaven therefore cried to Thee, O Giver of Life: / Glory to Thy Resurrection, O Christ! / Glory to Thy Kingdom! // Glory to Thy dispensation, O Thou who lovest mankind! (Tone 4) In truth you were revealed to your flock as a rule of faith, a model of meekness and teacher of abstinence; so you won the heights by humility and riches by poverty, O Holy Father Nicholas, intercede with Christ God to save our souls. KONTAKIA (Tone 1) As God, Thou didst rise from the tomb in glory, / raising the world with Thyself. / Human nature praises Thee as God, for death has vanished. / Adam exults, O Master! / Eve rejoices, for she is freed from bondage and cries to Thee: // Thou art the Giver of Resurrection to all, O Christ! (Tone 3) You proved yourself to be a holy priest, O Nicholas, you served God in Myra and lived the Gospel of Christ. You offered your life for your people; you rescued the innocent from death. Therefore God has glorified you as a trustworthy guide of things divine. The Prokeimenon in the First Tone: Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us / as we have set our hope on Thee. v. Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the just! THE EPISTLE OF THE HOLY APOSTLE PAUL TO THE HEBREWS. (13:17-21) Brethren: Obey your leaders and submit to them; for they are keeping watch over your souls, as men who will have to give account. Let them do this joyfully, and not sadly, for that would be of no advantage to you. Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner. Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in you that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. We will have our annual St. Nicholas Day potluck following the Divine Liturgy. ALL are invited to stay and join us for this celebration of our feast day. There will also be a special guest visiting us today. The parish council will meet on Monday, December 7 at 6:45pm. Please call the parish office if you are unable to attend this meeting. The St. Nicholas Cookie Walk will be held on Saturday, December 12 from 10-2pm. Your holiday cookies are needed to make this a success. If you would like to volunteer to help before, during and after the Cookie Walk please see Barbara Brown. Our church school students will be performing A Charlie Brown Christmas on Sunday, December 13 at 1:00pm. All are invited and encouraged to attend this wonderful performance. CENSUS FORMS To date, 84 completed census forms have been returned representing 131 adults and 32 children ages 18 and under. There are 14 adults interested in a Bible Study. If you have not yet completed your census form, please do so ASAP so that in our January newsletter we can begin listing birthdays, names days and anniversaries. Caring for our Community We have chosen to adopt two families this Christmas. The families are in need of the following : Family A: Girl-Age 5 and Boy-Age 14 Girl size 12 clothes Men s size x-large shirts, pants 36/30 and 36/32 Ladies size 14 pants, size 16 pants, tops x-large, shoe size 8 & 81/2

4 Also needed are blankets, gas cards, bed sheets-queen and twin, towels and toys for a 15 year old boy. We will accept any gently used items for this family. If you have any further question for Family A you may see Linda Branoff, Cathy Steiner or call the parish office. Family B: Boys- Ages 6, 11 & 17 The youngest boy is wearing a size 6-7 and likes Lego s, the middle boy is wearing a size and likes sports, the oldest boy wears a size large in shirts and a 32/34 panthe would like gift cards. Donations for this family should be unwrapped; gift bags are welcome and needed. Any donations need to be brought to the church no later than December 11, so that they may be distributed the following week. If you have any question for Family B please see Debbie or Marla Houser.
