The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia! COLLECT FOR PURITY (all in unison) Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. 2 A SONG TO THE LAMB - S 266* Dignus es setting by Calvin Hampton ( ) *The ANTIPHON is introduced by the choir and then sung by all The VERSES are sung by the choir God be with you. And also with you. Let us pray COLLECT OF THE DAY O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. All sit for the readings. THE WORD OF GOD At the conclusion of each Reading: Hear what the Spirit is saying to God s People. Thanks be to God. FIRST READING Acts 16:9-15 During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia pleading with him and saying, Come over to Macedonia and help us. When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them. We set sail from Troas and took a straight course to Samothrace, the following day to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city for some days. On the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had gathered there. A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home. And she prevailed upon us. -2-

PSALM 67 (*all singing) Deus misereatur 1 May God be merciful to us and bless us, * show us the light of his counte nance and come to us. 2 Let your ways be known u pon earth, * your saving health a mong all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; * let all the peoples praise you. 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, * for you judge the peoples with equity and guide all the nations u pon earth. 5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; * let all the peoples praise you. 6 The earth has brought forth her increase; * may God, our own God, give us his blessing. 2 nd half of chant 7 May God give us his blessing, * and may all the ends of the earth stand in awe of him. SECOND READING Revelation 21:10,22 22:5 In the spirit the angel carried me away to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. Its gates will never be shut by day and there will be no night there. People will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. But nothing unclean will enter it, nor anyone who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb s book of life. Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. Nothing accursed will be found there any more. But the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him; they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And there will be no more night; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. -3-

*HYMN # 513 Like the murmur of the dove s song Bridegroom THE HOLY GOSPEL John 14:23-29 SERMON Congregational Response: Glory to you, Lord Christ Jesus said to Judas (not Iscariot), Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me. I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, I am going away, and I am coming to you. If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe. Congregational Response: Praise to you, Lord Christ A LITURGICAL AFFIRMATION (unison) You, O God are supreme and holy, You create our world and give us life. Your purpose overarches everything we do. You have always been with us. You are God. Infinitely generous, good beyond all measure. You came to us before we came to you. You have revealed and proved your love for us in Jesus Christ, Who lived and died and rose again. You are with us now. You are God. You, O God, are Holy Spirit. You empower us to be your Gospel in the world. You reconcile and heal; You overcome death. You are God. We worship you. From the Book of Common Prayer of the Anglican Province of New Zealand -4-

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Let us, God s people pray. God of Blessing and Mercy, the magnificent vision of what is to come is clouded by the incessant realities of our current time. Dispel the fog of our own making and re-capture our desire to listen eagerly, love you deeply, and overflow with your peace. God of Blessing and Mercy, guide the leaders and all people of this Earth, this Nation, and this Community, that they may judge with equity, increase in honor and faithfulness, and abandon all practice of falsehood and bigotry. We pray especially for: Barack, our President; Jack, our Governor; Tom, our County Executive; and Dennis, our Mayor. God of Blessing and Mercy, grant your saving health to all whose lives are beset by physical, emotional, or spiritual illness, and infuse their care-givers with the love that heals. We now join our voices to pray aloud for those in need God of Blessing and Mercy, untrouble, and encourage the hearts of those who mourn to rejoice, as those we love are now released from the trials of earthly life, into the Heaven of eternal life and joy. We pray especially for: Franny Cole, Melanie Brown, Hilda Davis, Alyce Foster, and Robert Holloway. God of Blessing and Mercy, we pause in this moment to offer you our other heartfelt intentions and petitions, aloud or silently God of Blessing and Mercy, invade the sameness of daily tasks and rituals of those we choose to lead us in your church, and rekindle the fire and depth of your early call to service. We pray especially for: Michael, our Presiding Bishop; Wayne, our own Bishop; David, our Rector; Lloyd, our Rector Emeritus; Emily and Peter, our Associate Priests. We pray for the Anglican Church of Kenya and for St. Martin's in the Field, Selbyville. -5-

PEACE The Celebrant adds a concluding prayer. Holy Christ, God's Word Incarnate, You are our Home on Earth and in Heaven; you came to us that we might come to you. Excite our souls to seek and believe in your glory and truth, in every moment of every day, in this time, and this place. We ask through the Holy Spirit, our Advocate, and the Infinite Almighty, who together with you are One God, now and beyond forever. Amen. ANNOUNCEMENTS The peace of Christ be always with you. And also with you. OFFERTORY THE HOLY COMMUNION *ANTHEM O All Ye Works of God Thaddeus P. Cavuoti (B. 1955) F. Bland Tucker ( ) O all ye works of God now come to thank him and adore; O angels sing and bless the Lord and praise him evermore. O sun and moon and starts of heaven your endless praise outpour, O changing seasons bless the Lord and praise him evermore. O heat and cold, O night and day, O storms and thunder s roar, O fields and forests bless the Lord and praise him evermore. O earth and sea, O all that live in water or on shore, O men and women, bless the Lord and praise him evermore. O let his people bless the Lord like righteous souls of yore; let those of holy, humble heart come praise him evermore. *HYMN # 417 This is the feast of victory Festival Canticle THE GREAT THANKSGIVING Eucharistic Prayer 1 from Enriching our Worship I The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise. -6-

It is truly right, and good and joyful, to give you thanks, all-holy God, source of life and fountain of mercy. You have filled us and all creation with your blessing and fed us with your constant love; you have redeemed us in Jesus Christ and knit us into one body. Through your Spirit you replenish us and call us to fullness of life. Therefore, joining with Angels and Archangels and with the faithful of every generation, we lift our voices with all creation as we sing (say): SANCTUS - *S 128 Holy, holy, holy Lord William Mathias (b. 1934) Blessed are you, gracious God, creator of the universe and giver of life. You formed us in your own image and called us to dwell in your infinite love. You gave the world into our care that we might be your faithful stewards and show forth your bountiful grace. But we failed to honor your image in one another and in ourselves; we would not see your goodness in the world around us; and so we violated your creation, abused one another, and rejected your love. Yet you never ceased to care for us, and prepared the way of salvation for all people. Through Abraham and Sarah you called us into covenant with you. You delivered us from slavery, sustained us in the wilderness, and raised up prophets to renew your promise of salvation. Then, in the fullness of time, you sent your eternal Word, made mortal flesh in Jesus. Born into the human family, and dwelling among us, he revealed your glory. Giving himself freely to death on the cross, he triumphed over evil, opening the way of freedom and life. On the night before he died for us, Our Savior Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his friends, and said: Take, eat: This is my Body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. -7-

As supper was ending, Jesus took the cup of wine, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said: Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is poured out for you and for all for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me. Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Remembering his death and resurrection, we now present to you from your creation this bread and this wine. By your Holy Spirit may they be for us the Body and Blood of our Savior Jesus Christ. Grant that we who share these gifts may be filled with the Holy Spirit and live as Christ s Body in the world. Bring us into the everlasting heritage of your daughters and sons, that with Blessed Andrew and Matthew all your saints, past, present, and yet to come, we may praise your Name for ever. Through Christ and with Christ and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, to you be honor, glory, and praise, for ever and ever. AMEN. THE LORD S PRAYER (contemporary) BCP 364 As our Savior Christ has taught us, we now pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. -8-

BREAKING OF THE BREAD FRACTION ANTHEM (all singing) Christ Our Passover Craig Phillips (b. 1971) The choir adds the following verse. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us; therefore let us keep the feast. The ANTIPHON is repeated by all INVITATION and COMMUNION Everyone is invited to Holy Communion *MOTET The Father s Love Simon Lole (b. 1957) As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Remain in my love. This is my commandment: that ye love one another, as I have loved you. God is Love, and those who live in love live in God and God lives in them. If you keep my commandments, love one another, as I have loved you. Then your joy will be complete. *HYMN # 119 (LEVAS II) Spirit of God, Descend upon my heart Frederick C. Atkinson SENDING FORTH OF THE EUCHARISTIC VISITORS In the name of God and of this congregation, we send you forth bearing these holy gifts, that those to whom you go may share with us in Christ's body and blood. We who are many are one body, because we all share one bread, one cup. POST COMMUNION PRAYER (said by all) BLESSING Almighty God, may we who share Christ s body live his risen life; we who drink his cup bring life to others; we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world. Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us, so we and all your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise your name. AMEN. *HYMN # 292 O Jesus, crowned with all renown Kingsfold -9-

THE DISMISSAL Let us go forth in the name of Christ. Alleluia, Alleluia. Thanks be to God. Alleluia, Alleluia. *VOLUNTARY Lobe den Herren (Schübler Chorale No. 6) J. S. Bach ( ) Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (Based on Hymn # 390) -10-
