1 A CALL TO EXPAND OUR LOVE our Holy Cross Family temporarily. InFebruary our Community Director, Rachel Jette, CSC, called to share an existingand urgent problem: namely, that due to the RENOVATION PROJECT at Saint GeorgeManor, EIGHTEEN sisters had to immediately vacate their home. Because InfantJesus Convent had rooms available, we were asked to welcome some of our sistersto join our little community and to enlarge
2 Weare grateful for this great opportunity which was given to us unexpectedly andwe relied on God s grace to accompany each one of us in this challenge. In theprocess we often reminded ourselves of the sacrifice involved for each one inleaving their home to come and join us. FromSaint George Manor, the sisters in charge, Sister Eleanor LaBranche and Sister LucilleGravel, as well as the Clinic Director, Mrs. Nina Solanek, were able to respondwell to all the services needed and concerns, and proved to be a great SUPPORTfor all of us. Weare left with the belief that this enrichment enhanced our LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHERin Holy Cross. This experience was lived in a healthy SHARING TOGETHER andrespecting each one s needs. What a blessing it was from God, allowing us togrow in wisdom, understanding and in the discovery of who we are as WOMENRELIGIOUS in our HOLY CROSS FAMILY. Whatcould have been a CHALLENGING DISTURBANCE ended up in our BEING TRANSFORMEDinto grace, which the five of us recognize today. Lorraine Choinière,CSC... Anne Marie St.Pierre, CSC Thérèse Caron, CSC... Evelyn Boucher, CSC... CatherinePoirier, CSC GRATITUDE FOR 175 YEARS OF THE WOMEN'S BRANCH OF HOLY CROSS On November 10th we celebrated the 175th anniversary ofthe foundation of the Women of Holy Cross, with a Thanksgiving Mass. Thatday, the Holy Cross fathers, brothers and seminarians joined us, as well aslaypeople from both the parish community and the
3 Nuestra Señora de Andacollo Schoollocated in Santiago, Chile. Fr.Jose Ahumada, CSC, Superior of Peru and Chile celebrated the Mass. It was anopportunity to get closer to the people and to share our history, spirituality, and mission. Fr. Jose shared the following in his homily: To this day, thesisters of Holy Cross are looking for new ways to risk, to be passionate, inorder to respond to the most urgent needs of the society, the Church, especially among poor ormarginalized women. It is remarkable the work they are doing around the worldfighting against human trafficking and also for the protection of the environment, the deterioration of which is so closely related to poverty in many countries. ( )Pray that the Lord may accompany us all on the journey, all the religious of HolyCross, as we live our vows of obedience, poverty, and chastity as a way ofwitnessing Christ in this world. We are neither better nor worse than any otherchristian, but we have willingly decided to totally surrender ourselves tochrist. This journey is not easy as we encounter many people that only see thenegative dimension of the Church, and we need to admit that we have not alwaysprovided light and accompaniment in times of pain. Today, together with thesisters of Holy Cross, celebrating their 175 years as Sisters, we want to renewour Yes to the Lord. After Mass, we enjoyedhaving time to share with everyone. Ourthanks to Blessed Basil Moreau for remaining open to the Holy Spirit sinspiration. May he keep praying for our Congregation as we continue tocollaborate in the building of the Kingdom of God. We also want to share that the Church here in Chile is celebrating the month of Mary that begins on November 8th and ends with the feast of the Immaculate Conception. This an opportunity to pray together with Mary and, above all, to contemplate our Lord through the Rosary. These activities are widely practiced in the parishes and in the schools. Every Saturday, in our deanery, wepray the rosary at dawn. We need to get up very early in the morning to be ableto go to pray in the next parish. This is followed with a Mass and a sharedbreakfast. During this month, people are better disposed to opening theirhearts and there are also more of them coming to pray the Rosary.
