1 St. Mary s Winter Chapel was built as the parish house of St. Mary s-by-the-sea in 1894, financed mainly from the proceeds of a fund-raising fair which netted $1,080. The building was completed by Christmas of that year with a parish hall, cooking room, and reading room. In the winter of 1912, renovations began downstairs for a chancel, choir and vestry - for purposes of winter worship. Additions have been made over the years, most notable of which are the recent modern offices and elevator. The Parish of St. Mary and St. Jude St. Mary s Chapel All Saints Day PARISH STAFF The Rt. Community Events College of the Atlantic s Community Connections Program (CCP) pairs COA international students with local families to engage in communal activities on an informal basis. CCP is not a host-family program in the sense that students actually live with local families, but rather a friendship program that encourages the development of more global perspectives for both the students and families through cultural exchange. For more information about the Community Connections Program and application process, please go to our website: If you would like to apply, or have questions or concerns, please contact the Coordinator of International Student Services, Kylee Allen, at or kallen@coa.edu. 6 The Celebration of the Holy Communion Offertory Sentence Offertory Hymn # 293(remain seated) Presentation Hymn # 380, v.3 (please stand) Grand Isle Old 100 th The Great Thanksgiving - Eucharistic Prayer 1 Enriching Our Worship Celebrant Celebrant Celebrant The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. that is what their ancestors did to the prophets. "But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. "Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep. "Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets "But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you." Gospeller The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Christ. Sanctus, Hymnal S130 Celebrant and Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The celebrant continues the Eucharistic prayer Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith: Celebrant and Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. 6 Protecting Your Health Since the spread of HINI virus, we have taken steps to protect the most vulnerable among us from the spread of disease. You are encouraged to be mindful of your own hand washing and to be sensitive to those who may not wish to shake hands. Hand sanitizer is available as you enter the church. Please use it, especially if you think you may have a cold! Let s keep everyone safe from illness. Thank you. During Communion Extensive medical research has shown that taking a sip from the common (silver) cup which is properly wiped and rotated is the most germ-free method of receiving the wine. You are strongly encouraged to refrain from dipping your host in the wine. This method has the potential of introducing germs from your hand into the chalice. Receiving only the bread is perfectly acceptable. Thank you for all of your efforts in protecting those who may be more vulnerable to disease! 11

7 The Epistle (Ephesians 1:11-23) Reader A reading from the letter of Paul to the Ephesians. In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; this is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God's own people, to the praise of his glory. I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. The Breaking of the Bread Celebrant We break this bread to share in the Body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread. Communion All who are drawn to Christ are welcome to come forward for communion. If you prefer a blessing to receiving the bread and the wine, simply cross your arms over your chest and the priest will bless you. (Please see Protecting Your Health page 2.) The Post-communion Prayer God of abundance, you have fed us with the bread of life and cup of salvation; you have united us with Christ and one another; and you have made us one with all your people in heaven and on earth. Now send us forth in the power of your Spirit, that we may proclaim your redeeming love to the world and continue for ever in the risen life of Christ our Savior. Amen. The Blessing s response: Amen Closing Hymn #556 vs. 1-5 The Dismissal Let us go forth in the name of Christ. Thanks be to God! Marion Postlude Bagatelle in D L. Van Beethoven Reader The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. The Gospel (Luke 6:20-31) Gospeller The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke. Glory to you, Lord Christ. Jesus looked up at his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. "Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. "Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for 10 7

8 Readings All Saints Day Proper 26 Church of Christ in the USA, and used by permission. The Collects, Psalms and Canticles are from the Book of Common Prayer, The Collect Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen. Hebrew Scripture (Daniel 7:1-7,15-18) Reader A reading from the book of Daniel. In the first year of King Belshazzar of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head as he lay in bed. Then he wrote down the dream: I, Daniel, saw in my vision by night the four winds of heaven stirring up the great sea, and four great beasts came up out of the sea, different from one another. As for me, Daniel, my spirit was troubled within me, and the visions of my head terrified me. I approached one of the attendants to ask him the truth concerning all this. So he said that he would disclose to me the interpretation of the matter: "As for these four great beasts, four kings shall arise out of the earth. But the holy ones of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom for ever for ever and ever." Reader The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Psalm 149 (The refrain is sung before the Psalm begins and where (R) is indicated) 1 Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song; * sing his praise in the congregation of the faithful. 2 Let Israel rejoice in his Maker; * let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. 3 Let them praise his Name in the dance; * let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp. (R) 4 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people * and adorns the poor with victory. 5 Let the faithful rejoice in triumph; * let them be joyful on their beds. (R) 6 Let the praises of God be in their throat * and a two-edged sword in their hand; 7 To wreak vengeance on the nations * and punishment on the peoples; (R) 8 To bind their kings in chains * and their nobles with links of iron; 9 To inflict on them the judgment decreed; * this is glory for all his faithful people. Hallelujah!
