RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY The Respect Life Ministry is holding a Coat Drive on the weekend of April 23/24. Don't throw away the old winter coats you don't want. Drop them off at Church; the Respect Life Ministry will distribute them to the homeless in Philly. Remember Matthews' Gospel: "when you saw Me naked, you clothed Me." Other used items that will help our homeless are: Old blankets, sleeping bags, worn clothing (especially large men's sizes), and travel size toiletries. SPN CATHOLIC FAMILY LIFE CENTER The trip to the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Saturday, April 30 still has seats available. We will be leaving from the CFLC at 6:30 a.m. The cost is $58.00 Adults/$55.00 Children (12 & Under). The Art on Main Street program on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:45 p.m. has room for anyone wanting to join the program. The cost is $ Please register prior to Wednesday, April 20. A deacon s ministry entails proclaiming, preaching and teaching God s Word, assisting the bishop and priest at the Liturgy, assisting at funerals, ministering to the sick and dying, leading the community in prayer and in sacramental liturgies, baptizing, witnessing marriages, and exercising administrative leadership in the Church. A permanent deacon, who may be married, is a member of the clergy and shares in the hierarchy of the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, the deacon is configured to Christ the Servant. It is Christ the Servant who acts through the ministry of the deacon. Wedding Anniversary Mass Are you celebrating a special anniversary this year? The annual Archdiocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass will take place on Saturday, May 7 at the Cathedral Basilica of SS Peter and Paul at the 5:15 PM Vigil Mass with Archbishop Charles Chaput presiding. This mass is to pray for and with all married couples who are newlyweds, or who have been married 25 years or more, or 50 years or more. Friends and family are welcome and encouraged to attend. Three cheers for Mother Earth! When we can see God reflected in all that exists, Pope Francis writes in his encyclical Laudato Si, our hearts are moved to praise the Lord for all his creatures and to worship him in union with them. Laudato Si, which means Praise be to you, underscores that the call to care for all creation is universal. Praising our God means preserving and protecting our common home. 8 Parish Council At-Large Nominations are being accepted for Parish Council At-Large Representative: Nominations are now being accepted from any parishioner 18yrs of age or older who may be interested in participating in Parish Council as an At-Large Representative. The At-Large representative is an important component within the parish council structure, as they help foster and strengthen communications within the parish community. The representative is expected to attend all Parish Council meetings which occur on selected Mondays five six times a year between September and June.
