1 Garabandal - The Great Miracle Before continuing with our discussion of The Warning, and to put it into proper context, we must consider the next great earth event. We know from the La Salette prophecies that Enoch and Elijah are pseudonyms for the Two Witnesses of Revelation 11. We also know that they will be resurrected after a cruel death, and then translated into heaven. Refer to my Paper on the La Salette prophecies. Why is this The Great Miracle? Consider the resurrection of Lazarus. Jesus intentionally waited, to make sure the body smelled, before he performed that miracle. But it was private, limited to the witness of family, a few friends, and some of the followers of Jesus. I am sure the word spread quickly, but many could question if it truly was a miracle. Consider the resurrection of Jesus. No one was witness. The Jews accused the Apostles of stealing the body. The witness of his resurrection was his later appearances, in a different kind of body. Consider Mary Magdalene. When she turned to leave the tomb she saw him standing near but did not recognize him, even as he asked her questions. Only when he said to her, AMary,@ in intimate address, did she know who he was, from the expression of his personality. She would have hugged him but he warned her not to do so; he was not in a human body. The major witness to his resurrection was his later appearance to his Apostles, and small groups of followers during a 40-day period, but not to the world. Although Paul offered witness to a later apparition event, and a major life conversion, Christianity is founded on this limited human testimony, not upon a general world experience. (I do not debate here the many Christian myths and contradictory passages about resurrection in the old body, despite the evidence of Lazarus, who was a very special case, and who did not ascend into heaven. Paul discussed this issue and told us explicitly that we do not resurrect in the old body. See I Cor 15:35f. He thought the idea so foolish he chided his audience for entertaining such notion.) But now something different is promised. Rev 11: 7-11 And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will make war upon them and conquer them and kill them, and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which is allegorically called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. For three days and a half men from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over

2 them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth. But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up hither!" And in the sight of their foes they went up to heaven in a cloud. Besides the fact that some early Christian editor besmirched this great revelation we have here a telling piece of information. The beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will make war upon them and conquer them and kill them is not literally correct. The human agents of the Devil will kill them, not the Devil himself. The great city, which is allegorically called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified is another false intrusion. If, as I showed in the Paper on the La Salette prophecies, these two witnesses testify in Great Babylon, they probably will be killed in some city of that great country, such as Washington, DC, New York, or Chicago. More importantly, the entire world watches this episode. Until the past 30 years such a worldwide feat was not possible. Only with the introduction of modern electronics, and satellite communications, could such event be seen around the entire world. Certainly, if these two witnesses introduce Godly fear into the godless masses of this world, now subject to the operations of the Devil, and then are killed, the entire world will watch with baited breath. The TV cameras will not leave them for that entire period. Then, suddenly, The Great Miracle will take place. New and amazing bodies, glowing in celestial light, will replace their destroyed bodies. They will stand upright, will deliver a final warning to mankind, and then be taken up into heaven. The entire world will be witness. Billions of people from all nations will see the resurrection, will observe seraphic transports, and translation into heaven. That is The Great Miracle. Now consider The Great Miracle that Conchita mentions at the end of her diary. She discusses this in more detail in the second of the notes she gave to Francisco Sanchea- Ventura. Refer to previous citations. AI am the only one to whom the Blessed Virgin spoke of the miracle. She forbade me to say what it will consist of. I can't announce the date either until eight days before it is due to occur. What I can reveal is that it will coincide with an event in the Church and with the feast of a saint, martyr of the Eucharist; that it will take place at eight thirty on a Thursday evening; that it will be visible to all those who are in the village and surrounding mountains; that the sick who are present will be cured and the incredulous will believe. It will be the greatest miracle that Jesus has performed for the world. There won't be the slightest doubt that it comes from God and that it is for the good of mankind. 3 which it will be possible to film or televise, will remain forever, para siempre, at the pines. Well, The Great Miracle is no longer a secret. We now know. We also know that the details of this remark by Conchita cannot all be correct. An important clue, that remained strong within her mind, was the fact of a world-televised event. But if The Great Miracle takes place in Great Babylon, then it could not take place at the Pines in Garabandal. Nor will memory of The Great Miracle remain forever there. In the coming world renovations people will no longer care about the Pines. They will care about the event. Perhaps the Pines, a local sentimental association, were used to make an indelible imprint on Conchita=s young memory. I cannot imagine how anyone would doubt that this miracle comes from God. Equally difficult to doubt is the profound impact it will have on the entire world. Mankind will be in awe. Everyone will be dumbstruck, as never before in world history. THIS is The Great Miracle. No one will now deny the power of our Creator. All the channelers, all the Devil agents, all the political desperados, will be silenced. As you can see this event was known from the Bible, but now it is put into context by the revelations of La Salette and Garabandal. In other words, the Marian Apparitions serve as a vehicle for focusing our attention on the details and immediacy of such awesome events. Now, at this time of world crisis, at the close of the age, our planetary supervisors are bringing revelation to more vivid display. Now the time is ripe. We can rightly deduce that these cosmic events are imminent. We cannot estimate Conchita=s role in the announcement of this miracle. How events unfold within the next few years, and the role of any of us, is now unknown. We must wait. But we must estimate her remarks in the context of the world experience. Consider other elements: A...it will coincide with an event in the Church and with the feast of a saint, martyr of the Eucharist.@ This is a very strange phrase: Who is the Amartyr of the Eucharist?@ Is that not Jesus? The Catholic Encyclopedia, in defining the Eucharist, states that: AThe name given to the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar in its twofold aspect of sacrament and Sacrifice of Mass, and in which Jesus Christ is truly present under the bread and wine.@ When Christians observe the Eucharist they believe the impartation of the bread and the wine are the (symbolic if not literal) eating and drinking of the body and blood of Jesus. Was he then not martyred in a cruel death upon the cross? Unfortunately, in attempt to understand these phrases, Catholic believers in the Garabandal messages went searching for more mystical answers. This direction was taken because of the word Asaint.@ Can Jesus not be classified as Aa saint?@ What Church event coincides with his institution of the Eucharist, and his related death and

4 resurrection? Was that not Passover, now the Christian Easter? Is that not the Afeast of Is that not the most important event in the Church? I can see no good reason why we should not assign these remarks to Jesus. This suggestion is supported by other pieces of information attributed to Conchita:... it will happen in the month of April... between the 7 th and the 17 th of the month but not the 7 th or the 17 th... The ideas of $ a major event in the Church calendar, $ the feast of a saint, $ the martyr of the Eucharist, $ and Easter, are all compatible with one another. Even more, this Great Miracle would be a most profound memorial to the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Just imagine what it would mean if two ordinary human beings would give of themselves in honor to their Creator. We can understand why it would take place in April. If so, if these statements are valid, we can identify the years in which The Great Miracle would take place. Following are the dates of Easter for the next seven years: $ 2004 Apr 11 $ 2005 Mar 27 $ 2006 April 16. $ 2007 April 8 $ 2008 March 23. $ 2009 April 12. $ 2010 April 4. If it Awill take place at eight thirty on a Thursday evening@ we must conclude that this is the Garabandal local time of the resurrection, not the death. Then the death must be some days before, perhaps on the preceding Sunday. That would be Easter Sunday. If we follow this path of logic we should add four (three and one-half) days to the above dates. Surprisingly, there are four years within this period that fit Conchita=s prescription, 2004, 2007, 2009, and Some have stated that Conchita gave a range of three months, March to May, for these dates. Even if we include that range we do not have any other years that fit the prescription. May is automatically excluded because Easter never occurs in May. If we accept the span of service from the Two Witnesses, as described in the Book of

5 Revelation, they would need at least two years for their service. This would exclude Hence the earliest possible date for The Great Miracle is in If Conchita=s statements are correct. The time of eight thirty in the evening may mean the time at Garabandal, but not the local time in Great Babylon. That would be six to nine hours earlier, from 2:30 in the afternoon on the east coast to 11:30 AM on the west coast of North America. Without doubt whatsoever, this will be the Agreatest miracle that Jesus has performed for the In Conchita=s September 14, 1965 interrogatory, she adds that it "will last about fifteen minutes." That may be from the first stirring of their bodies until their ascent into heaven. In further remarks on August 10, 1971, she affirmed that she has never further qualified this statement by saying that this event would be a happy one or not, as some have maintained she said. In a letter written to Joey Lomangino an October 29, 1964, Conchita had this to say of the sick and the miracle: AYou ask me if the sick who are at the pines will be cured? Those who are in the village and also those who are in the area surrounding the village (en los alrededores del peeblo) will be cured. All the people from anywhere in the world who are in the village and in the area surrounding the village will see, will be cured. Joey Lomangino was especially interested in an answer because of his visual blindness. An accident in repairing an automobile tire in his youth had severed both the olfactory and optical nerves in his head. His loss of the sense of smell had been miraculously cured when he visited Padre Pio, an exceptional Priest in Italy who displayed the stigmata, and who urged him to visit Garabandal. Joey now looks forward to having his vision restored. Of course, we do not know if people will be physically cured as a result of The Great Miracle. Probably not. I am sure that many will be cured of mental attitudes and wishful thinking. Much spiritual blindness will be cured. Perhaps this is what the Vision meant when she said Joey would have his vision restored: his spiritual vision, not his physical vision. What an awesome transformation among mankind! Conchita made other statements, repeating the material above, but adding comments. These are all evidence for the deduction that Conchita was trying to satisfy the curious by adding to her descriptions.

6 A Permanent Sign will remain at Garabandal in memory of the miracle as visible proof of our Blessed Mother's love for all humanity. It will be a "thing" never before seen upon the earth. It can be photographed but not touched. Without the evidence from the Bible, and Rev 11, this would remain a mysterious remark. The Blessed Virgin advised me of a great miracle, saying that God, Our Lord, would perform it through her intercession. Just as the chastisement will be very, very great, in keeping with our deserts, so too, the miracle will be extremely great, in keeping with the needs of the world. Indeed, The Great Miracle, will be a decisive factor in crystallizing decisions among God=s people, for their escape from Great Babylon, and for the future salvation of the world. It truly will be extremely great in keeping with the needs of the world. The Blessed Virgin has told me the date of the miracle and what it will consist of. I am supposed to announce it eight days in advance, so that people will come. The Pope will see it from wherever he is, and Padre Pio also. The sick who are present at the miracle will be cured and the sinners will be converted. Joey Lomangino, Conchita herself, and large numbers of people who believed in the Garabandal events, questioned Conchita=s remarks when Padre Pio died. They were uncertain what to make of it. Application of the Garabandal messages to an exclusive Catholic body of believers can only do a disservice to the value of the Marian revelations. The rest of the world is shut out. But the cost is high. This example of human fallibility, which shows many times in the transmittal of revelation from celestial sources through human mortals, introduces confusion and doubt. We all must keep our heads together about such wishful thinking. There will be no doubt in the mind of anyone who sees this great miracle which God, our Lord, will perform through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin. And now as we await this great day of the miracle, let us see if the world changes and the chastisement is averted. Repeatedly we see wishful thinking about The Great Chastisement somehow being averted. Note the following examples:

7 Conchita has been granted permission by Our Lady to announce the date of the miracle eight days in advance. With the present means of communication and travel, eight days are sufficient for people around the world to gather. The day of The Miracle may be the last opportunity given us by God and may be also Our Lady's last effort to save the world from the punishment already threatened. Again, we make a grave mistake by failing to understand that The Great Chastisement is inevitable. There are no actions on the part of mankind that will remove it or avert it. Again, this is wishful thinking. Some time ago Conchita wrote, "The Blessed Virgin will not allow me to reveal the nature of The Miracle although I already know it. Neither can I reveal the date of it, which I know, until eight days before it is to happen." Before The Miracle takes place Our Lady has said that all mankind will receive a warning from heaven. Several times we encounter the disclosure of a strange event in the skies. I shall return to discussion of that event. We can now return to the Bible for the foundations of The Warning, Section IV.
