Britain s new proevolution stamps. Imagine if Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson had a conversation like this: It s elementary, my dear Watson. There is no God and life was not created. The god hypothesis is rather discredited. Yes, Holmes, such religious beliefs are just myths from the past Every time you understand something, religion becomes less likely Only with the discovery of the double helix and the ensuing genetic revolution have we had grounds for thinking that the powers held traditionally to be the exclusive property of the gods might one day be ours, said Dr Watson. The above statements were made recently by a real Dr Watson and his former research colleague, Dr Crick, in a London Daily Telegraph (UK) report. These two ardent atheists are being honored this year on the 50 th anniversary of their discovery of the double helix structure of the molecule of heredity, DNA. The newspaper report states, The two scientists who discovered the structure of DNA in Cambridge 50 years ago have used the anniversary to mount an attack on religion. Without doubt, their discovery was a milestone in biochemistry and genetics. But sadly, these two scientists disdain for the Bible and creation is reflected in the commemorative displays and paraphernalia associated with this anniversary. The Science Centre in London (located right beside the famous Natural History Museum) has a display of Watson and Crick s original DNA model, as well as an exhibit to teach the thousands of students who visit daily about DNA, genes, etc. I visited this display during my recent speaking tour. It was so sad, in fact distressing, to watch thousands of young and impressionable students read such statements as: Some of us think that we humans have a special place in the animal kingdom. 2 2 My children are being taught a certain framework by which they are to interpret and judge information that comes their way. This framework, quite simply, is a Biblical one. The Bible is history. I thank God that He has raised up AiG to boldly proclaim the Bible s authority and accuracy. May He speedily bring about the completion of the Creation Museum, so that thousands upon thousands of people can learn the proper framework the Biblical framework. Watson and Crick (and most secular scientists today) basically believe that because we now know from DNA that life functions on the basis of the the laws of chemistry and physics, those laws, not a Creator, produced life. However, this is an illogical conclusion. Noticeably missing from the discussions and exhibits was material concerning the information and code system of which DNA is a part which creation scientists like Dr Werner Gitt have pointed out could not arise as a result of mere physical and chemical laws, but had to be produced by an intelligence (the Creator God) see infotheory The UK Post Offi ce even issued five stamps to commemorate this anniversary. One of the stamps (see front page) pictured a chimp and a man staring at each other representing the belief that DNA research supposedly shows chimps and humans are closely related.* As I walked through the Science Centre Exhibits and the Natural History Museum, read the newspaper articles on Watson and Crick and obtained a set of the commemorative stamps, my soul ached to see the AiG Creation Museum (see right) up and running so we can be more effective in stemming the tide of atheistic evolutionary humanism sweeping the globe. I wonder what effect Watson and Crick might have had on the world if they had concluded, It s elementary, my dear Watson; just as Romans 1:20 states, it s obvious there is an all-powerful God. 4 4 I particularly enjoy drawing on my personal experience in the laboratory and showing pictures I have taken with both the light and electron microscope, that unveil the marvelous complexity of our body. I am a scientist. I have always believed secretly to myself that the world was created the way God told Moses that it was created. Since I discovered AiG, I now have scientifi c evidence to support this. I am no longer secret about it, and I tell those who would want me to believe otherwise that science supports creation. I pray that AiG continues to be strong in the truth. Dr David Menton was an extremely popular professor among his pre-med students. There is no doubt that the Lord hid me under the shadow of His wings (Psa. 17:8). My colleagues treated me with respect, and my students said I was among their best teachers. How was this possible, when we re often told that nothing in biology makes sense without evolution? The fact is, evolution contributes nothing to our understanding of empirical science or biomedical research. Today we are hearing threats not to matriculate, pass, graduate or recommend anyone who dares to question Darwinism. Sadly, even many churches have attempted to make their peace with Darwin, lest they appear foolish in the eyes of men. For this and other reasons, I decided to retire early so that I might sound a warning and give encouragement to all who would hear. 9 Subscribe by calling or use the envelope inside. Creation in the classroom Creation magazine is proving to be an effective evangelistic tool in all sorts of unusual places. Here are two examples. My ecology teacher and I got into a conversation right in the middle of class about creation versus evolution. [When we moved] into chapter 5, the teacher told me that I was going to be leading the class discussion, and asked me to present my thoughts on creation. I was concerned at first because of the short notice, but I read some articles from Creation magazine. I had the class for an hour, and I got to go through a point-by-point explanation of why I believed that the Bible and science disprove evolution. At some points, he would say, I have to admit that she had a good point science does contradict itself here. I have never considered it from this angle. E.D., Virginia Creation is also effective in prison: Your ministry meant a great deal to me when I was in prison. I had a friend there who subscribed to Creation. It helped me to overcome my evolutionary beliefs some of which I still had even after I was saved. Thank you. K. Scientifi c American s cover story in March admits the need to abandon old dogmas about the sup- posed dinosaur- and it grudgingly acknowledges that to-bird evolution, creationists have hit some sore spots. The dark side of evolutionary politics On the day after she gave a harmless talk about Critical Thinking on Evolution, a chemistry professor was asked to resign her administrative position at a public university. Dr Nancy Bryson, who heads the division of science and mathematics at Mississippi University for Women (MUW), says she had never received any negative feedback before. The talk itself was not blatantly Christian/Biblical, Dr Bryson says. Yet after her talk, she said that other professors made ugly comments and sent out derogatory s. On the day after her talk, she says, she was badgered to resign. But she refused, and so her boss later sent her a notice of non-renewal of her contract. The school denied that the decision had anything to do with her talk. But in the end, the school reversed itself, claiming that the timing left the wrong impression. Indeed, the president reasserted MUW s absolute commitment to academic freedom and freedom of speech. Throughout her ordeal, Dr Bryson says the students at MUW have been supportive. She hopes her trials will help open the door for a small but growing number of college professors who don t buy evolution as fact but are afraid for their academic careers. Read the full story at

He was not a Christian then, but your talk really made him think and he became a Christian a few months later. Irene White, AiG- UK/Europe. Our sister office in England has been especially busy, answering questions from people throughout Europe seeking answers to stumbling blocks in their lives. Time and time again, AiG ministries have seen how the Lord can use even the smallest booklet to minister to individuals. Here is one exciting example, shared by Dr Monty White of AiG in England: In response to an request, we sent out a copy of our Is there really a God? booklet.** The man then phoned to say that he had been brought up as an evolutionist, and that the booklet and material on our Web site had really helped him. He had started to read the Bible, and attended church. Unfortunately, he was confused because the churches told him that he could believe evolution. He knew that this could not be true because Genesis clearly taught six literal days. Over the phone, our receptionist and I encouraged him to put his trust in Christ for the forgiveness of his sins. 11 Unsolved cosmic mysteries The Web site called Space.com posted the Top 10 Space Mysteries for Mysteries included: Dark energy A search for the mysterious force that holds our universe together. Perhaps the authors should read Colossians 1:15 for the answer. Water on Mars Certain that water holds the key to life, evolutionary scientists long to find any hint of a global flood on Mars (but not the Earth, of course). The origin of life The Web site admitted: In fairness, it must be pointed out that there is little data to work with. Earth does not retain a record of what went on billions of years ago, when life got going. Need we say more? Are we alone Looking to bolster the myth that if life evolved by chance on the Earth, the search continues for life that has evolved all over this enormous universe. The age of the universe It has been put at 12 billion to 15 billion years for some time now, but every few months a revision or refi nement is announced. At least the Word of God is not subject to frequent revision. Despite all of the bravado that the evolutionary camp often displays, this article is a frank admission that they really have no idea about the origin of the universe and life on Earth. 12 DID YOU KNOW? Dinosaurs can easily be explained by the Bible. Dinosaurs not proof of evolution! Did you know that some Christians say dinosaurs are just a hoax? I remember after I had preached in a church in Australia and was in the pastor s car. The pastor s son piped up and said Hey, Dad, how come you told us dinosaurs never existed? Quiet, son, said the pastor! You see, because he thought that dinosaurs and evolution went hand-in-hand, and that Christians didn t have answers to explain dinosaurs, the pastor just told his son they didn t exist. But what happens when you take your son to a large museum and you see the bones of these creatures? Obviously, they did exist. And they aren t such a mystery, and can easily be explained on the basis of the Bible. In fact, I believe the Bible talks more about dinosaurs than most other animals. You see, the word dinosaur was first used in The King James Version was first translated in That s why you don t find the word dinosaur there. Before these creatures were named dinosaurs, they were called dragons. And that word occurs a number of times in the Old Testament. Yes, dinosaurs did exist and not so long ago.
