3 What to Expect In 2016 Welcome to 2016! We ll miss 2015, though it s time to greet the new year! Hopefully, this year is filled with new beginnings. So, what s to come? Well, we re here to give you a heads up! Here are four events said to happen in the New Year! The southern part of America will be cooler than normal, and the north part of America will be warmer. The 2016 Summer Olympics will occur. The 2016 USA Presidential Elections will occur. Another supermoon is said to happen on November 14, These are all events that we know will happen. 4 It Is Snowing!!! I woke up and went downstairs. I was making pancakes when I looked out the window. It was snowing! I was jubilant about this. Then I realized that all my friends were not available; they were on vacation! What would I do? I have no friends at home, I was thinking to myself. Finally, a brilliant idea came to mind! I didn t have any friends and I didn t want to go alone, so I asked my mom! Alright, sure, she said to me. It has been an extremely long time since I have played in the snow, About 15 years actually! So before we went out, we obviously got our winter coats and scarves on. Next, we had some hot chocolate. After that, we finally managed to get outside without freezing. We built a snowman. My mother said she thought something was missing. Of course, the nose, I responded. After the glorious snowman was completed, we started a snowball fight! My mom was actually amazing at making snow forts. She beat me! I was shocked! I always beat my friends! I guess my mom is supposed to be better than me. I think I got her genes! My mother and I had so much fun! I never thought about playing in the snow with her. It actually turned out fantastic.this was an awesome bonding moment with my mom! ~Shaishavi Patel

I know sometimes people can be mean But who knows, they may see you differently Being different is nothing new There is nothing better than being true Be true to you, The way you want to be known and seen, Is a good thing, But don t forget to be unique, Don t be anybody else but you.

6 Creature Island By: Caitlin Sia, Everett Botwinick, Brooke D Alessio, Briana Mazon, Joseph Chan In a small village called Aria, there lived two twin orphans. One was a boy named Tyler. He was the type of child who got himself into mischief and wanted unlimited power more than anything else. His sister, Taylor, was the exact opposite of him. Taylor was a kind and loving girl who was definitely an animal lover. The twins never got along well, for they would bicker and fight about every single problem that dawned on them. Aria was close to a small, yet dangerous, island named Creatura Insula; which is Latin for Creature Island. Inhabiting that island were a large amount of unique mythical creatures whose gaze can haunt you forever. In the summer of 1618, a rumor starts to plague the village. It soon reaches to the twins who were arguing about another random matter. Did you hear the word on the street? said Tommy, their little brother. Tommy was a wild spirit and liked to go on adventures and do daring things. Tyler doesn t really care about Tommy, and Taylor thinks that he ll turn out to be as annoying as her twin. It seems that Creatura Insula has turned into an even more dangerous place! They say that the creatures living there have gone berserk because of a curse and that they might be heading towards Aria! Not now, Tommy! Tyler shouted. You had the bread last time Taylor. So it should be mine- But I need to tell you about the curse! There s a rumor going around that if you can free all the creatures from the spell, you will be able to control them and have all the power in the world, Tommy said excitedly. Wait Tommy, go back to that power thing. Did you say that the person who curesd the creatures will have all the power in the world? asked Tyler. Tommy nodded his head. Interesting, Tyler said with a mischievous smile. Really, Tyler, the only reason why you re thinking of going is to get power. That s ridiculous. Taylor commented. I would help find the cure for the poor creatures. Just thinking of how they are under the spell makes my stomach churn. Yeah, yeah, talk about your feelings all you want, but I want to know more about this rumor. Tommy, talk. Tyler commanded. So there is a riddle going around about the steps you have to take to find the cure. Here, I wrote it down on a piece of paper. Tommy recited the riddle, Hurry humans, you must come. To Creatura Insula is where you must run. There is an illness going around, and we might possibly attack your town. But there is a way to stop the sickness traveling from beast to beast. So I must say in the very least, you must find the four clues guarded by the four beasts. They are the strongest and most determined creatures, but you must defeat them to find the one and only cure. If you survive through this journey of death, you will have all the power in the world until your very last breath. Tyler was intrigued and grabbed the paper from Tommy. Hmmm Well, it seems like we re going to Creatura Insula. Tyler said as he looked up from the piece of paper. Before anyone realized they were gone, the three kids stole a boat and journeyed to the island not knowing whether or not they ll return to their home. TO BE CONTINUED

7 The last few weeks, the Dolphin Dispatch team has been asking the students how they plan to improve their grades for next marking period. Here are some of their responses. Jena Bhandari Cycle 614 I want to stop procrastinating. It is one of my bad habits. I will also try to do more extra credit. Mackenzie Swann Cycle 614 Well, I will try to get better grades Gianna Ivanov Cycle 623 Honestly,I have no clue. I will try to just keep going with what I am doing now. I am proud of myself already. Emily Wong Cycle 624 I will study more and work harder. Juliet Gamba Cycle 63 I will try harder in math to get High Honor Roll. Jay Mukhi Cycle 721 I will join new clubs. KUDOS KORNER This last month some amazing things happened for the students in TRIN. Mike Tresvalles and Lana Note became members of the Intermediate South Jersey Band and Orchestra. Mark Fedeli moved on to the Tri-County Championship in wrestling after becoming Ocean County s Red Division Champ for his weight group. Colin Baker and Michael Van Sprang will be representing TRIN on the All Star Basketball Team for the Red Division.

8 Do you like Easter Candy? Or maybe cool prizes? If you do, why not sell for the PTO s Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser. All you need to do is ask your friends and family to look at the brochure filled with delicious treats. When they place an order, our school earns money and you earn credit towards cool prizes. The fundraiser runs until February 19th. The PTO is offering two pretzel parties per grade, too. TOMS RIVER INTERMEDIATE NORTH FOOD DRIVE This month our school is collecting food for the needy. Many families in our communities are hungry. They do not have the money or the ability to provide for their families. No one should have to go hungry when we have so much. Please bring in a can of tuna or a box of pasta. Maybe a spare container of peanut butter or soup. Whatever help you can give would be appreciated. When you bring in a food item, you will get to write your name on a football and cast a vote on who you think will win SuperBowl 50!!! COAT DRIVE Please look in your closets for any extra coats you may have lying around. A collection is being made for gently worn coats that you no longer want or need. Not only will you warm the person who gets your coat, but your heart will be warm too.
