1 A Course In Miracle Workbook For Dummies LESSON 99 Salvation is my only function here. W Salvation and forgiveness are the same. 2 Salvation and forgiveness both imply that something has gone wrong; something to be saved from, forgiven for; something amiss that needs corrective change; something apart or different from the Will of God. 3 Thus do both salvation and forgiveness imply a thing impossible but yet which has occurred, resulting in a state of conflict seen between what is and what could never be. W In your egoic world of perception, truth and illusions both are equal now, for both have been perceived to have really happened. 2 The impossible becomes the thing you need forgiveness for. The impossible becomes the thing you need salvation from. 3 Salvation now becomes the borderland between the truth and the illusion. 4 Salvation reflects the truth because salvation is the means by which you can escape illusions. 5 Yet salvation is not yet the truth because salvation undoes what was never done. This is also the case regarding forgiveness. Forgiveness reflects the truth because forgiveness is the means by which you can escape illusions. 5 Yet forgiveness is not yet the truth because forgiveness undoes what was never done. W How could there be a meeting place at all where earth and Heaven can be reconciled within a split mind where both truth and illusions are believed to both exist? 2 The split mind that sees illusions thinks illusions are real. 3 Illusions have existence in that illusions are egoic fear-based thoughts. 4 And yet illusions are not real, because the split mind that thinks these thoughts is separate from God and these thoughts are not shared with the Mind of God. W What joins the separated split mind and thoughts with Mind and Thought which are forever One? 2 What plan could hold the truth inviolate, yet recognize the need illusions bring, and offer means by which illusions are undone without attack and with no touch of pain? 3 What but a Thought of God could be this plan, by which the never done is overlooked, and sins forgotten which were never real? W The Holy Spirit holds this plan of God that undoes illusion without attack exactly as God s plan was received of the Holy Spirit within the Mind of God and in your own big S Self s mind. 2 This plan that undoes illusion without attack is apart from time in that its Source, which is God, is timeless. 3 Yet this plan of God that undoes illusion without attack operates in time, because of your belief that time is real. 4 Unshaken does the Holy Spirit look on what you see; on sin and pain and death, on grief and separation and on loss. 5 Yet does the Holy Spirit know one thing must still be true; God is still Love, and this egoic world you perceive is not God s Will. W God is Love and the egoic world you perceive is not God s Will is the Thought that brings illusions to the truth, and sees illusions as appearances behind which is the changeless and the sure. 2 God is Love and the egoic world you perceive is not God s Will is the Thought that saves and that forgives, because this thought lays no faith in what is not created by

2 the only Source real thought knows. 3 God is Love and the egoic world you perceive is not God s Will is the Thought whose function is to save by giving you this thought s function as your own function of forgiveness and salvation. 4 Salvation is your function, with the Holy Spirit to Whom the plan was given. 5 Now is your big S Self entrusted with God s plan for salvation, along with the Holy Spirit. 6 The Holy Spirit has one answer to appearances; regardless of their form, their size, their depth or any attribute the misperceptions seem to have: 7 Salvation is my only function here. 8 God still is Love, and this perceived egoic illusion is not God s Will. W You who will yet work miracles, be sure you practice well the idea for today that salvation is your only function here. 2 Try to perceive the strength in what you say, for these are words in which your freedom lies. 3 Your Father loves you. 4 All the world of pain is not God s Will. 5 Forgive yourself the thought that God wanted this perceived egoic illusion for you. 6 Then let the Thought with which the Holy Spirit has replaced all your ego s mistakes enter the darkened places of your split mind that thought the unreal thoughts that never were God s Will. W This part of your mind that appears to be split from God s Mind belongs to God, as does the rest. 2 Your mind that appears to be split from God s Mind does not think its solitary thoughts, and make the ego s unreal thoughts real by hiding them from God. 3 Let in the light of the Holy Spirit and you will look upon no obstacle to what God wills for you. 4 Open your secrets to the Holy Spirit s kindly light, and see how bright this light still shines in you. W Practice the Holy Spirit s Thought today that God is still Love, and this egoic world you perceive is not God s Will, and let the Holy Spirit s light seek out and lighten up all darkened spots of your little s self s mind, and shine through these unreal egoic thoughts to join the healed little s self to the rest of your big S Self. 2 It is God's Will your mind be one with God s Mind. 3 It is God's Will that God has but one Son. 4 It is God's Will that God s one Son is you. 5 Think of these things in practicing today, and start the lesson that we learn today, that salvation is your only function here, with this instruction in the way of truth: 6 Salvation is my only function here. 7 Salvation and forgiveness are the same. 8 Then turn to the Holy Spirit Who shares your function here of salvation and forgiveness, and let the Holy Spirit teach you what you need to learn to lay all fear aside, and know your big S Self as Love which has no opposite in you. W Forgive all thoughts which would oppose the truth of your completion, unity and peace. 2 You cannot lose the gifts your Father gave. 3 You do not want to be another little s self that opposes the truth of your completion, unity and peace. 4 You have no function that is not of God. 5 Forgive yourself the egoic function you think you made that opposes the truth

3 of your completion, unity and peace. 6 Forgiveness and salvation are the same. 7 Forgive what you have made with your split mind and you are saved. W There is a special message for today which has the power to remove all forms of doubt and fear forever from your mind. 2 If you are tempted to believe any form of doubt and fear to be true, remember that appearances can not withstand the truth these mighty words contain: 3 Salvation is my only function here. 4 God still is Love, and this is not God s Will. W Your only function tells you you are one with the shared Mind of God. 2 Remind yourself of this oneness between the times you give five minutes to be shared with the Holy Spirit Who shares God's plan with you. 3 Remind yourself: 4 Salvation is my only function here. 5 Thus do you lay forgiveness on your mind and let all your split mind s fear be gently laid aside, that love may find its rightful place in your healed mind and show you that you are the Son of God. Notes to Lesson #99 Salvation is my only function here. Last night, I dreamed I was a dog and that I had bitten the mailman. What must I do to correct the harm that I did to the mailman? The answer should be obvious. I need to wake up from the dream and realize that what I thought had happened had never occurred. I would not have to be punished for my actions nor would I have to ask for the mailman s forgiveness. The belief that I was a dog was incorrect since it was a dream. In actuality, nothing had happened to impact or change my outer world. There was no wrongdoing on my part and there was no harm done to the mailman. Because I was born a human being, my dream had no ability to change my true nature. I could imagine I was a dog and even believe it to be true but that dream would not change my reality. The dream would have no real effects or consequences upon the outer world. Yet, it could impact my mind s inner world. The dream would only appear to impact how I behaved and reacted in my world as long as my mind was under the delusion that the dream was my reality and that I was actually a dog. Once, however, I realized that I was the dreamer of the dream, my mind would quickly realize that nothing had really occurred. The dream would fade from my consciousness and I would merely resume the knowledge of my true identity.

4 The mailman would be totally unaware that such a dream had occurred and would not demand an apology. The only person that would be aware that the dream had ever occurred would be myself or anyone that I chose to share my story with. Since my own mind was the source of the dream, I could relate the story in one of two ways. The first is to acknowledge that I was dreaming. The second is to fail to mention that it was a dream. Depending on how I chose to tell the story, the listener would either think that I had harmed the mailman or merely dismiss the story as inconsequential or perhaps amusing. If I told him that the dream was a punishable offense, the listener would realize that there had never been any crime and that no punishment should be imposed upon an imaginary dog nor forgiveness asked from the mailman. But what if I, the dreamer, failed to recognize that the story of my being the dog and biting the mailman was really a dream? If that was the case, my mind would be delusional and I would think that I had wronged the mailman. I would believe that forgiveness and punishment were warranted. I would feel guilty and expect to suffer the consequences from my actions. All of these fear-based thoughts arose because I failed to recognize the events were not real. This is the situation that you currently find yourselves in. You believe that time has somehow changed who you really are. You have mistaken the game token that you call the body to be your true reality. You have forgotten that you are a spiritual being having an earthly experience. The differentiation that this world provides is designed to offer the rich, fun learning experiences that you desire. It is your misguided belief that the game is real that has transform these experiences into a source for sin, guilt and fear. You remain an individuated aspect of the One Self. You have come here to demonstrate your true spiritual magnificence. If a mistake in judgment happens in this playschool, no crime has occurred and no punishment is required. If you believe a mistake has occurred, only correction is requested from yourself. If you believe forgiveness is required, you have merely forgotten that in this playschool of time and space, nothing has really happened that can affect the Mind of God. Your salvation and freedom lie in the fact that God is only love. This world of sin, pain and suffering that you imagine is not God s Will. You need to forgive yourself for your belief that God would want this for his beloved child. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and forgive yourself. Your egoic thoughts have never had any reality because they are not shared with the Mind of God. Instead, accept the truth of God s plan for your reawakening. Set aside all fears and know that love has no opposites. Drop your egoic belief that you could have another alternate reality. You remain as God created you. Forgive and forget what your egoic mind has made and imagines. Accept the truth and you are saved. Salvation and forgiveness are the same. They are the borderland between truth and illusion. They reflect truth because it is the means to escape from illusion. Yet, it is not the truth because forgiveness or salvation undoes what was never done since you only imagined your sins to be real. Time and space is your playschool for reawakening.

5 You do not have to feel guilty because you chose to play the game of separation and reawakening. When you ask the Holy Spirit, you are given God s plan of forgiveness and salvation. The Holy Spirit reframes your ego s delusional thoughts of sin, guilt and fear while recognizing the effect that these illusions have upon your split mind. These illusions infest your sick mind with a great deal of blame, shame and guilt. God s plan ends your participation in the blame shame and guilt game of your ego s world. God s plan offers the means by which illusions are undone without any punishment or sacrifice and therefore, without any pain. The Holy Spirit s unique understanding of forgiveness allows the reconciliation of your delusional egoic thoughts and the truth with God s love. No punishment is required and yet justice is served. God s plan for your salvation is apart from time since its source, which is God Itself, is timeless. Yet, God s plan operates in time because you believe that time, which is the measure of change, is real. The Holy Spirit knows one thing must be eternally true. God is still love and therefore, all your egoic imaginings of pain and suffering are not God s Will. The Holy Spirit knows the truth about you and therefore, only asks what love would have you do. Salvation, which is the act of forgiving yourself for your ego s misperceptions, is your only function in time. Accept the truth or the At-One-Ment for yourself. God is still love and your egoic imaginings are not God s Will. Salvation is your reawakening from the dream of separation. In time, forgiving yourself for following your ego s fear-based thought system is your only function. Question: In my dream of being a dog that bites the mailman, why is it unnecessary for me to ask forgiveness from the mailman?
