Issue No.: 51 Removing the weaknesses which break the resolution of practicing celibacy Publisher, Owner & Printed by : Deepak Desai on behalf of Mahavideh Foundation, 5, Mamtapark Soc., Usmanpura, Ahmedabad Gujarat, India. EDITORIAL The young man who attains Atmagnan Self-realization from Dadashri, also finds himself involved in a goal of his life to practice brahmacharya (freedom from all sexual impulses through the thoughts, speech and actions). And his decision becomes strong that he wants to practice brahmacharya through the thoughts, speech and actions and to become an instrument for the salvation of the world. Now, revered Dadashri makes such men aware of the secrets, which weaken their resolution of practicing brahmacharya and this makes them aware and alert. One decides to practice brahmacharya according to today s understanding and knowledge, however the knowledge and understanding from the past life was not favoring brahmacharya completely and that became the mind of this life, as a result the current mind will show both; he will feel illusory attraction moha towards sexuality too and will have the intent of practicing brahmacharya too. This is where the sadhak the aspirant of brahmacharya has to keep awareness. One has to follow according to today s goal and not the dictates of the mind which is a composite of past life opinions and understanding. The one who proceeds as guided by the mind is called mechanical; there is no telling when he will descend and slip. Mind is contradictory in nature, it will show: I want to practice brahmacharya, and at other time it will show: I want to marry; so here You are to keep awareness and strong decision to follow Your goal. One has to make the nischaya decision firm, gradually, through understanding and Gnan. Such a one will not miss the goal even if the mind shows something sexual for the next six months. Dadashri gives some beautiful keys of separateness to such a seeker, which helps him to accomplish the work with the mind. Yes, if the mind shows you the pamphlet, which supports your principle then it is acceptable, but if it shows against Your goal then you should never listen. Mind may show: I want to fly a kite, I want to play cricket, let s watch television, let s play cards, all these are contrary to Your goal. In such instances You should not follow the dictates of the mind. Then You can progress towards Your goal. You can accomplish the goal if You remain sincere to Your firm decision. A decision cannot be fruitful if you have deceptive intent and sincerity breaks through a loophole. You can definitely bring your goal to completion through the blessings of the Gnani and sincerity towards Your firm decision. In this Dadavani, all the keys are compiled which will give the understanding to a seeker about, how the loopholes break the sincerity in making a firm decision for brahmacharya, how one is able to become stronger by following Agnas, how one can break the sexual links, and thus it will be very helpful in bringing completion without creating any obstructions. ~Deepak Desai Subscription : Yearly Subscription- India: 100 Rupees USA: 15 Dollars UK: 10 Pounds 15 Years Subscription - India: 800 Rupees USA: 150 Dollars UK: 100 Pounds Printer/Press : Mahavideh Foundation, Basement, Parshvanath Chambers, Usmanpura, Ahmedabad

Removing the weaknesses which break the resolution of practicing celibacy { Please note that S Self denotes the awakened Self, separate from the s worldly self. The Self is the Soul within all living beings. The term pure Soul is used by the Gnani Purush for the awakened Self, after the Gnan Vidhi. The absolute Soul is the fully enlightened Self. The worldly soul is the self. In the same manner, Y You refers to the awakened Soul or Self, and the y you refers to the worldly self. This differentiation is unique to critical understanding of the separation of the Self from the self a/k/a the non-self complex that is accomplished in the Gnan Vidhi of Akram Vignan.} Follow Your decision This Dada says that He does not have like and dislike and who are we to have like and dislike? What kind of people are we? You are the emperor of the world and yet you are ruled by your mind! Since when did your mind become your superior? Questioner: It has been that way from the very start. I do everything according to what the mind decides. Dadashri: Just look, four hundred years ago Saint Kabir said, Mun ka chalta tana chale, taka sarvasva jaya - one who follows his mind loses everything was he not wise? Questioner: He was wise. Dadashri: Whereas here he follows his mind. If the mind tells you, marry her ; would you marry her? Questioner: No, I cannot do that. Dadashri: It will still say things. When it tells you such things, what will you do then? You will have to be strong if you want to follow the vow of brahmacharya-freedom from all impulses of sexuality- celibacy. The mind will say such things and it will also make you say such things. That is why I was telling you that by tomorrow morning you may even run away from here. What is the reason for this? How can you trust the one who does what his mind tells him? This is because You do not have any controlling influence chalan over the mind at all. The one who is in charge of everything would not allow himself to be swept away by the mind. This man says, I do not have any problem of going to the place where bodies are being cremated. That is why I was telling you that the mind within will say, This girl is nice so now there are no problems. I have attained Dada s Gnan, there is nothing else left. That man got married; there is nothing left to be fulfilled. And what mistake is there in doing so? In addition I will get my father s blessings. It will tell you all these things from within. And if you get lost with this, there will be a fiasco. We tell you that you will runaway from here (from satsang), and then you say, Where would I run to from here? But what will not stop you from running away? It is because you do what the mind tells you. Who is considered a strong man? He is the one who does not listen to any such temptations and arguments from within or outside. He would not listen to the mind, the intellect, the ego or not even any God if he were to come here. What capacity do you have for this? Questioner: I have never listened to the mind in regards to nischaya (firm decision) I have made in front of Dada. Dadashri: Is that so? Does the mind say the right things? Questioner: Yes, it says the right. Dadashri: That is because it has not 2 January 2010

said anything wrong. You may not be swayed by it if it says a few wrong things but if it does not leave you alone for seven days and it tells you, You have attained the Gnan now, now there is no problem. People respect you a lot. You are like this and you are like that It will convince you and control you. Questioner: That will not happen any more. Dadashri: That is why I caution you to wizen up by telling you, Stop following your mind, so that no harm comes to you. Live by your independent decision (nischaya). Use your mind when you need to, but keep it aside if you do not need it. But this mind will take you on a ride for fifteen days at a stretch and get you married! Greatest of saints have been terrified by it, so what chance do you stand? You do not even know how to wear your shoes! Follow according to your decided plan! Your firm decision is according to your goal only. You have to do according to today s nischaya; according to today s planning and not the planning of the mind. Otherwise it will not materialize. You will not be able to practice celibacy and you will not be able to stay here. You will not last too long with Dada. Therefore why should you listen to the dictates of the mind? Listen to the mind in whatever is relevant and the rest do what You have decided to do. That is what I am meaning to convey to you, this is our the Gnani Purush s siddhant (ultimate incontrovertible principle which brings the final result). Say this to the mind: This is our siddhant.if you want to come along and follow, then do so. If you do not want to follow, then I have no need for you. We will use our veto. Is the decision Yours or of the mind? Your nischaya is to become a celibate (brahmachari)! But you are doing everything the mind tells you. So where is that which is Yours in that at all? It was the mind that said there is happiness in getting married. It was the mind that told you all this and you had accepted it. Questioner: But now the nischaya has happened, has it not? Dadashri: Now the nischaya unflinching decision is Yours. Provided You decide that this is My nischaya. Then you can tell the mind, You have been warned. If you do anything wrong from now on, there will be consequences. Now You accept it as Your siddhant ultimate incontrovertible principle which brings the ultimate result, then it is only Your nischaya. Questioner: After accepting as a siddhant it is ours, otherwise it is of the mind? Dadashri: Then who else s? How can it ever be of the mind? But at the moment, what is ours in all this wealth? Whatever was ours it has taken over and on the top of that it lives in our own room. And on the top of that it is stealing from us, is it not? When a tile piece from someone s roof falls on the foot, and it hurts, even then one will not say anything, because there the mind will say, Whom will I blame and tell? There one says what the mind teaches. Currently, we the mahatmas of Dadashri who want to follow the path of celibacy, have siddhant, and the mind should follow accordingly. Do not listen to the dictates of the mind. How much do you think we Dadashri January

listen to the mind during the entire day? Questioner: Not at all. Dadashri: Then shouldn t that much courage arise for You too? Questioner: It will come. But the decision, I am not going to follow the dictates of this mind, should prevail in every instance, isn t that so? Dadashri: That will definitely prevail; why would it not? Where is it going to go? Once or twice, after some time do pratikraman. Then after two-four-five times it is bound to come within Your control. That is why we speak these Nine Kalams (Nine energizing sentences that represent and grant the ultimate correction on the path of moksha); they will give you all the energy (shakti) when you recite speak so that you can hear them. You should recite the Nine Kalams everyday. Which direction should the wagon be allowed to go? What is the one who is with brahmacharya- in the celibate state- like? What a strong purush! (one who is unaffected by the female). Such a one is with elevated manobud (energy to rise over the mind)! Would he be like these here? That is why I keep telling you over and over, You will run away and get married, and you keep telling me, Don t bless me in that way. I tell you, I am not blessing you. I am merely showing you, your true colors! If you do not take heed from this very moment and don t take the reigns in Your hands, then you are doomed. Where are you taking your cart (wagon)? And the answer is, Wherever the bullock takes it! Is anyone likely to let the bullock guide the cart? If the bullocks are going astray, the rider will prod and poke them back on track; he will do whatever it takes to bring them under control. He will take the cart in the direction he wants to go, will he not? Questioner: He will take it to the direction he wants to go. Dadashri: Whereas you are riding the cart in the direction the bullocks want to take you. Then you say, What can I do if it takes me in that direction? (You are going in the direction, which is contrary to your goal). Instead, why don t you get married peacefully? There is no meaning in this, if the cart is going in that direction, is there? You do not have the will power, the energy of decision (nischayabud). There is nothing of Yours. There is no competency on your part. What do you think? Should You allow the cart to go like that? Questioner: I should not. Dadashri: Then why these carts are going in that direction? Questioner: Now that You are telling me, I realize that I had done all this according to the dictates of the mind. Otherwise there is no clarity or awareness at all. Dadashri: Yes, but after knowing, will he the one who knows not become wise? Questioner: Yes, he will. The mind is the controller in such samayik! Questioner: I do not like sitting in the samayik. The mind wants to become a truant during samayik. Dadashri: The mind can complain all it wants but what have You got to do with all that? Does it go against Your siddhant incontrovertible principle that attains the 4 January 2010

ultimate? If it does, then it is still in control. Why do You care if it says no? It will not let you do samayik at all. Questioner: I did samayik regularly for the first two years. I used to like it then. Dadashri: This liking and not liking ; that is the very path you are on! Then you tell me I used to like it! The one who listens to the mind is not called a man at all. What else can we call him but a machine? Should You not be in control? Have you not become a Purush (the Self; Self-realized)? What do you do when the mind refuses to go to satsang? Do you listen to your mind there? You will be lost if you ever listen to your mind there, will you not? What else will you have? The animals listen to their minds, and you too listen to yours. Do you ever oppose your mind once in a while? Questioner: Many times. Dadashri: Good. Doing what your mind tells you is considered being mechanical. It is like the machine which runs when the petrol is filled in it. Does that happen to you too? Then even if you don t want to get married, it will make you marry. Questioner: That is not likely to happen. Dadashri: What kind of a man are you? If it does not allow You to do according to Your wish, then You are not in control. Questioner: I do not have a strong desire to do samayik. Dadashri: Oho! Then there is no desire to follow this religion. You are not strong in this, are you? Samayik is a forty-eight minute process. How can you practice celibacy when you cannot even sit in one place for forty-eight minutes? Instead it is better that you wise up and get married. This celibacy that one practices, that celibacy is the power of one s decision (nischayabud) which nobody can shake. How can you practice celibacy when you are following someone else s directions? Now, day after tomorrow you will tell me, I felt it from within so I got up and left the samayik. Questioner: When I sit down to do samayik, I do not enjoy doing it. Dadashri: There is no problem if you do not enjoy it, but it is unacceptable if you do what the mind tells you. Questioner: I do not realize that I am doing it; I do not understand it. Dadashri: You just do not understand it, right? When will you understand? Will you understand after a couple of life times? If you get married, she (the wife) will make you understand. I just don t understand! he says! I gave you an example of the cart and then talked about nischayabud (one s tenacity to stick to his decision). Can you listen to the one who does not let you act according to your decisions? You do not listen to your father or your mother but you value your mind more, is that it? Questioner: But I cannot see anything in samayik. Dadashri: What is to be seen that you want to see? Questioner: You said that one can see going back to age four. January

Dadashri: You cannot see just like that. When we tell you to look deep within, then you will be able to see. Those who act according to what their minds tell them are just carts, are they not? So how can they see? The Seer should be separate; the one who has his own nischayabud! Up until now, you have done only according to what your mind had told you and that has created many veils (of ignorance veils that prevent one from seeing the real vision). Questioner: In samayik one should be able to see it like a movie? Dadashri: But how can he see? You are not the seer. You are not the master of the cart, are you? You would be able to see it when You become the master. At the moment You are doing what the bull tells you to do. The one who does what the bull tells him will not be able to see any movies. One who follows his nischaya will see everything. Questioner: When I am doing samayik and the mind tells me not to, is that my udayakarma (unfolding karma in effect)? Dadashri: When can we call it udayakarma? It is when despite having a nischaya it does not let the nischaya prevail; that is udayakarma. Questioner: Thoughts do not sprout on the basis of udayakarma, do they? Dadashri: But do samayik if you have the nischaya. If there is nischaya, then don t do it if it is not agreeable to your prakruti. However, thoughts are dependent on udayakarma. You just have to see the thoughts. This is your purushartha (real effort without doership after Self-realization). Udayakarma comes to an end when You see the thoughts. The moment you see them, it is finished. If You become engrossed in it, then the udayakarma begins. Decisions made through mind are weak Questioner: When You show us all this, when the one within potaney cannot see, then I (the awakened one) should tell him, you have this (kashaya-fault) within, and that is why Dada is telling you. Having done this, the faults are seen. Dadashri: When I say this, I am planting a seed to help you become free. Questioner: Even then, since I have done alochana heart-felt recall of mistakes and confession, the nischaya decision has become very strong. Dadashri: That decision cannot be called strong, a decision should be strict then I would say it. Mental decision nischaya alone will not suffice; nischaya in vyavahar worldly interaction-practical application- will also be needed. At the moment your mind helps you by telling you, It is not worth getting married, there are too many problems in marriage. You have not decided this siddhant ultimate goal leading principle, through Gnan; you have decided it through the mind. It is the mind that showed you the principle, do this. Questioner: Just as the mind shows the principle to practice celibacy, is it the mind that shows sexuality matters? Dadashri: When its time comes, it will show these things for six months, twelve months and more. Questioner: That is also the mind, is it not? Dadashri: Yes, when all scientific 6 January 2010

circumstantial evidences come together, it happens. I question all these people, Why are you listening to the mind? It will destroy you. The discipline of practicing celibacy you have chosen to undertake is done so at the prompting by the mind. You have not decided this siddhant principle that leads to the accomplishment of the goal, through Gnan. The mind said, Where is the fun in marriage? Everyone ends up suffering, etc., etc., and you accepted these arguments. Questioner: So then so far, the siddhant has not been grasped through Gnan? Dadashri: How could you have grasped it with Gnan? So far it is based upon pleading from the mind. Now You have received the Gnan, You have to shatter these pleadings and arguments of mind through Gnan. Stop its controlling power and influence chalan for once and for all, because in this world only Atmagnan Self knowledge can prevail over the mind. The mind is not to be suppressed. The mind has to be made such that it becomes subservient. You have to win it over. If both of us start arguing who is likely to win? If I win explaining and reasoning with you, then you are not likely to harass me, are you? But what if I win without making you understand? Questioner: The mind will not say anything if there is closure. Dadashri: Yes, the attitude should be one of resolution and closure. Who taught you about brahmacharya celibacy in mind, speech and body? What can these people understand about celibacy? They happen to see quarrels in the home, so the mind says, There is no joy in marriage. It would be better to be alone. Questioner: Is it true that when the mind shows a certain degree of dispassion vairagya, it will also show a corresponding amount of such passion for sexuality? Dadashri: What is the nature of the mind? It is contradictory; it will show both elements. That is why I am telling you to be forewarned. Questioner: The mind will at one time show about brahmacharya celibacy and dispassion. Likewise would it also show about raag passion filled attachment? Dadashri: Definitely yes. Later it would show that. Questioner: With the same force? Dadashri: Could be more or less. There is no fixed rule here. What does the principle say? Eat hot breakfast, don t eat a cold one. But despite this it the physical complex of Dadashri is being fed two mathiyas spicy golden brown crisp wafers of udad daal flour. The mind may say, let s eat five today, then we say, later, not now. After this Diwali holidays. I will even say that much. Questioner: So partially the mind s was acknowledged and partially the principle was adhered to; is that how You resolved with the mind? Dadashri: No, not that way. As long as it is not hurting the principle, You have to give it some space. You should be a little noble with it when it is not obstructing the principle. What do you think here? Did you take the decision through the mind or was it taken through understanding? Questioner: It was taken through the mind only. January

Dadashri: You can handle it and accomplish the goal because Gnan is present. Otherwise I will not tell you anything about celibacy at all. Not even a word! I will not talk to you at all about this siddhant incontrovertible principle that attains the ultimate, if Gnan is absent. It is not possible for man to accomplish this without Gnan. The power of the unflinching decision made through Gnan Questioner: What is the demarcation between the decision made through the mind and the decision made through Gnan? Dadashri: Decision nischaya made through Gnan is very beautiful. It is altogether something very different. There, there is all the understanding of how to deal with the mind. You do not need to ask the mind how You should deal with it. A decision made through Gnan is no ordinary thing! All this has been decided through the mind, has it not? Therefore, you should know that some day it will overpower you. The mind verily will overpower you! The mind that made you enter this train of brahmacharya will verily be the one who throws you out of it. It will not be able to do so, if You have entered this train through Gnan. Questioner: What should be done to convert the decision nischaya that so far has been of the one through the mind, into a decision made on the basis of Gnan? Dadashri: From now on you have to make it fit according to Gnan. Meaning you have to take hold of the string that controls the kite. The string of celibacy must be in your hands. Then no matter how much the mind screams, it will not have its way. You confront the mind in this way for a few years, it will keep telling you get married get married but You should not flinch even when all other circumstances are stacked against you. That is because the Soul is separate from everything. All circumstances are temporary in nature and are prone to dissipate. Questioner: If a firm decision was made through Gnan, then the mind will not become confrontational, is that right? Dadashri: No, it would not. The foundation for firm decisions (nischaya) made through Gnan is different, no? All their foundations are like R.C.C (reinforced cement concrete) while those created by the mind are like those made of a mixture of gravel and concrete (non-reinforced), which are prone to crack. Eradicate the thoughts which are against the goal Questioner: You said that attraction happens because there is an account between the two. Then how can one get rid of that account before it unfolds? Dadashri: That can only be done if it is done at the very moment it happens. It cannot be done in advance. The moment a thought like, Let me reserve a space next to me for a woman, arises in the mind, You must get rid of it right away. Be aware of the intention as soon as it happens. You have to see the underlying intention. Is it in line with Your principle of brahmacharya or is it contrary to it? If it is contrary to Your principle, uproot it and throw it away instantly. The thought of saving the next seat before she sits down, needs to be eradicated the moment it arises. But generally one turns such a thought into a tree even before the woman sits. Then it is too late to turn back. 8 January 2010

Destroy previous gnan through current Gnan You do what the mind tells you and not according to Your will power energy of the Self (here). In doing so I do not like this and I like this are the tools (of the mind) at work and that is wrong. It must be based on siddhant principle, but what can one do? It will happen if You are involved in all work through it as the base. The mind is the opinion of the past life and this opinion is based on today s gnanknowledge. Questioner: And that is why contradictions arise within. Dadashri: It is because of all the friction and clashing and that is the very reason this world continues to exist. The mind is telling you to take a note (nondha), whereas your knowledge of today is telling you not to do so. And so the conflict between the two continues. Questioner: In our science, I have to simply see jovoo the mind which has been formed through the past life s opinions; and not to become one with it, is that so? Dadashri: If You see then the work has been done, has it not? Nothing remains if You see. All this is for the one who does not see. It is for the one who is dictated by it and in addition becomes insistent and obstinate about it. There is no problem even if he is dictated by it, but the problem is in the insistence and obstinacy. What does the mind say? Go ahead and eat it! We say that is not to be eaten. Your shouting is useless. We do according to our knowledge of today. We follow our opinions of today. The knowledge of the past says go ahead and eat it. Our knowledge of today is of being in celibacy and past gnan tells you it is okay to practice celibacy, then after six months it tells you to do something completely different. It tells you you should get married. That is how the state of the mind is; it is never the same on any day. It is wavering; it is contradictory. Bliss even during depression If depression arises in mind then You should not become one with it, You have to become an opponent there. In any work, when depression happens, then the experience of the Self arises for the one who has received this Gnan. The state of continuous bliss even amidst depression is Your space. This Gnan is such that it can make such discovery! Despite the occasion when external difficulty arises, the prevalence of bliss within is Your place. This space is ensured by the Gnan itself that, this is My space and this other is not. Otherwise, no matter how heavy an unfolding karma; there, simply saying, this is not mine, releases You. This is because I-Dadashri have separated it for You; this is Yours, and this other is other s! Questioner: Is it fine to say, This is not My state swaroop? Dadashri: It is all right if You do not use the word swaroop. Questioner: But this time, good experience happened. Dadashri: Good experience happened, no? If experience increases then it is worth it! Strength at the time of depression Depression is considered the best time. January

One should make good use of it. Depression will not arise generally and the Self will not manifest. The Self has manifested amidst depression only. One should definitely make use of depression, by a hundred percent. One should not let go of depression without making use of it. Now onwards You will use it to Your advantage, won t you? How many percentages? Questioner: I want to take hundred percent benefits. Dadashri: Hmm these mooah (special exclamation used by Dadashri to shake up the listener, the one who is constantly and continuously dying), who stay with me and don t understand then I wonder what kind of people are they? Those who want to practice brahmacharya would be like this? The One on the path of brahmacharya should say to the body, Burn, you burn on that side and I am here to see that. You burn in an inferno and I would see that. They would be so strong. Our principle of brahmacharya Questioner: What should be our incontrovertible ultimate goal accomplishing principle siddhant in all this? Dadashri: You have decided that You want to practice celibacy. So thereafter should You listen to the mind? Questioner: I simply do not want to listen to the mind in matters of sexuality at all. Dadashri: Do not want to listen at all. That is a very lofty talk of wisdom. But for the next six month the same stuff that is sexual arises, then what do you do? What do you do when it simply does not cut off and leave you alone? When it makes such cuts and leaves you alone, the body will not leave you alone and start siding with the mind, and then they will topple you over. Therefore tell it for once and all and with finality, you are not to interfere at all in this matter of sexuality and anything that violates my law of brahmacharya. Questioner: Then in such situations, how should I proceed? Dadashri: Remain strong. I am telling you to be strong even against the smallest thing that arises in matter of sexuality. If you concede even a little, it will throw you aside. So tell the mind As far as celibacy is concerned, you cannot walk even an iota outside my law. Remain in awakened alertness in the smallest matter in this regard. Otherwise the mind will become weak and feeble. Questioner: Besides that what other siddhants principles are there? Dadashri: It is more than enough if You do this much! Look he is asking for something else! The rest can be tackled and adjusted. If you happen to like a vegetable dish of karela (green bitter spiny squash) and the mind says, eat more, and it is not harmful to your goal dhyeya of brahmacharya, it is acceptable if he eats more of it. Have I not said this to you before? Questioner: Yes, the principle of practicing brahmacharya is our personal thing. However, during interaction between two individuals, the mind starts to show everything, and everything vanishes on the spot, when it is seen through Gnan. But, the interaction has to be completed, there are responsibilities, and consequently there may be the necessity to touch, and there, what is to be done if the mind shows something (sexual)? Dadashri: Our main principle of 10 January 2010

remaining in brahmacharya must remain inviolate and intact. The rest, the worldly interaction has to be done as needed. Tell him, don t sleep there; sleep here at home. Make such adjustments. Otherwise to want to be celibate and then make subtle contracts of sexuality is not something that we can afford. Otherwise get married. You cannot have milk and yogurt at the same time. You cannot ride two horses at the same time. Declare with emphasis that, In this matter of the principle of remaining in celibacy, I will not listen to even God if he tells me otherwise. We will tolerate everything else, provided you want to adhere to this principle. Questioner: So to prevent the mind or the body from taking over, should I remain alert right from the start? Dadashri: You will be taken over by circumstances from every side. The body too will show its nurturing energy. The mind too will show its nurturing energy. The intellect will help them. You alone will be thrown off. Questioner: The moment one begins to listen to the mind, he has lost all influence and controlling position chalan, is that not so? Dadashri: One can never listen to the mind at all. The Self is the pure Soul; the Self is animate chetan life energy, the mind is nischetan-chetan it has no life whatsoever. In the worldly life view only, it is simply called animated chetan, just mere words only. If the mind were to persistently get after you for three days you might consider Well, why not? Let us go. Has your mind ever done this to you? Did you have to do something like that? At first you stand firm and say no, but later when the mind keeps pestering you, you give in have you ever done that? Questioner: Yes, it has happened that way. Dadashri: What is the reason? When the mind keeps pestering all the time one becomes that. Therefore be continuously aware. The mind must never devour Your opinion. Remaining in Your opinion, whatever work it does, is acceptable to us. It must never ever breach Your siddhant. This is because You have become independent, having taken Gnan. Before, you were subservient to mind only. It was like, mun ka chalta tana chale the body is following the mind, was it not? Questioner: So this siddhant of brahmacharya is a very big thing, which is very necessary and cannot be ignored. Isn t that so? Dadashri: That is the only thing! The greatest of all things is that only! It is the one that is for doing purushartha highest inner independent energy effort of the Self. Get the work done through mind with the skill of Gnan Listening to the mind immediately gives rise to worries chinta and externally induced problems upadhi. Mind is that to be known (gneya) and You are the knower of that (gnata). When good thoughts come, know them janavoo Be the Knower; when bad thoughts arise, know them. Do you listen to the mind? Questioner: We are bound to listen for sure! Dadashri: How can forget the old relationship! One cannot let go suddenly, no? One cannot just drop the familiar relationships January

just like that, no? One would be ashamed, no? Have you continued the friendship? When the mind becomes completely gneya that which is simply being known the Gnani arises; such a One is called a Gnani Purush! Questioner: And in the intervening period where one becomes one with tanmayakar the mind, what then? Dadashri: Then the young ones (saplings, seedlings) would arise. That is why Lord Krishna has said that you are planting a seed in the womb. The moment you become absorbed in the mind, the seed falls in the womb. That is why worldly life has perpetuated. Questioner: The process of knowing the mind as a gneya Dadashri: That verily is the sign of a Gnani. Questioner: What is the method by which the Gnani maintains awareness in that? Dadashri: What do you mean by method? The mind verily becomes gneya the moment one becomes Shuddhatma- pure Self. Questioner: Mahatmas to whom You have given Gnan, do they still listen to the dictates of the mind? Dadashri: One does not know and if he does, he has a hard time relinquishing the old habit. Old habits do not die easily, do they? Questioner: What is it that he does not know? Dadashri: We tell him, brother, the mind is gneya that which is to be known, and now You have become the knower gnata. So Be and remain very firm and exact in this. Knowing this for many times, he continues an ongoing interaction with the mind. Then when we tell him, he lets go of it. But these old habits will not go away easily and quickly. Even if the doctor tells you not to eat with your right hand, inadvertently you will end up using it. It has become habituated; the habit has been entrenched. Therefore, we recommend maintaining awareness jagruti. Questioner: Is it enough to appease the mind? Dadashri: No, it does not end there. Questioner: Then what? Dadashri: The entire day passes for us, does it not? Questioner: It is for the mere satisfaction. Beyond that I still have to work on the mind. Don t I? Dadashri: No, later we can put on the brakes. Once the current hour passes, You can go after it with Your sewing machine. For the time being, let the time pass. If you encounter a difficult policeman, give him a little importance and get away from him even if you have to salute him. You can deal with it later, but if you were to get angry with him, it would not do because right now you have become a captive. There you have to work skillfully. Likewise it is the same with the mind. The mind is inanimate lifeless, so if you deal with it skillfully, it will fall into place. It does not obey anyone because it is insensitive and crass. Questioner: It seems that an opportunity like this will not come again. Dadashri: And that too, with so much ease, it is so easy, there is minimum effort and with so much bliss. Over there in the kramik 12 January 2010

path one has to do such heavy and severe penance, unbearable penance. One shudders with disgust merely seeing that. Questioner: You had once said that the mind, the intellect, the chit and the ego are like people. If you reason with them, they will understand and behave. Dadashri: Yes, they are jada lacking independent energy force and sensitivity. Jada means that they are otherwise difficult to control. This is like a nut that is put between the clamps of a nutcracker. The nut has no choice but be cracked; it gets cracked in due time. So now You have to act in a way so that the nut never comes inside the nutcracker. Be there where You do not come under their influence. Questioner: Yes. Dadashri: And in all that, we have this Gnan that is ours. There is no problem for us at all. The Gnan is seeing the mind. It is able to see what the mind does and what it does not. The upadhi externally induced problems of the mind, are external. It may be necessary to appease it with (diversionary) sweet pills and candies. If it becomes necessary, appease it by giving it some candies. That is why I tell You, if You have to, give it some candy but get Your work done. It is not as if the mind likes just one thing. There are many things the mind likes. It goes in whatever it finds tasteful! If you keep the mind away from certain things for 6 to 12 months, it will forget about it. What is the nature of the mind like? Out of sight, out of mind. If it comes in close contact with things, it will bother you and niggle away at you. If there is aloofness from familiarity with the mind, if You remain aloof then the mind too remains separate from those other things. Therefore it will forget, forever. It will not even remember. Then even if you were to tell it to go there, it will not. Do you understand this? It is within the nature of the mind to forget what is at distance. It forgets forever. You are away from your friend for a couple of years, your mind will then forget. It will niggle you for a month or two, that is the nature of the mind but our Gnan will never succumb to the mind. It is worth knowing this siddhant from the beginning! All diseases arise from abrahmacharya sexuality only. Therefore one should keep the siddhant of brahmacharya absolute incontrovertible principle that accomplishes the ultimate result from the very beginning and it is better to know it, from the beginning. What is the point of knowing this siddhant at the age of eighty? Our existence can only be in one place, never two. Therefore be sincere to the siddhant as far as possible. Today, all value of chastity charitra has disappeared. The value of brahmacharya has disappeared, has it not? The value of living a pure life is gone. Only a pure life has to be lived. Get a tight grip on the siddhant of brahmacharya When the mind keeps asking for icecream, then it is asking for ice-cream does not harm the principle of celibacy-siddhant of brahmacharya much. Go ahead and give it some ice-cream, but not too much. Do not discourage it. You can even give it a couple of candies. Do not suppress it by saying, Get lost, you are not going to get it. Only when it comes to this other matter of sexuality then You must handle the task after thinking things January

through and tell it, Dear fellow, this is My principle siddhant. You must not interfere with My siddhant. Just like you tell the wife, Please do not interfere in my business affairs and I will not interfere in your affairs. Once you make this joint decision, it will not interfere. The illusory attraction of kite-flying breaks the siddhant Questioner: For last two to three days I really feel like flying a kite, so I should not do that? Dadashri: You should! Questioner: But is that not following the dictates of the mind? Dadashri: You may do what it tells you, but at the same time tell the mind, Brother, you will also have to do what you don t like. You will even have to do what you don t like; if you agree to this, then I will do what you like. Otherwise I will throw you out. That is the kind of condition You should make with it. Questioner: On the one hand You are telling to do what is liked and on the other hand You are telling to do that which is disliked. Dadashri: When will the one who has a desire to fly kites, be in brahmacharya and practice celibacy? Can such a person be allowed in? Questioner: I had decided at night that I do not want to fly kite anymore and the moment I got up in the morning, the mind is prompting, I should be flying it for sure. Dadashri: Then how can celibacy be practiced? After forty-five years it will say, Now I want to marry. He will not find a wife even if he waits that long. Even if you wait, you will not find one. Therefore one needs nischayabud the energy and strength of decision. The mind has not been after you for two months about flying a kite, has it? For how many hours has it been after you? Questioner: Four to five hours. Dadashri: The mind has weakened within four to five hours, then what will happen if it goes after you for six months, keeps pestering you, Get married, get married? It will show you everything with proof, then what will happen? The mind tells him to fly a kite, and so he will fly a kite. After a while the mind will say, Practice celibacy! Hey you! Celibacy is an undertaking for the one who has nischaya firm determination. Do you think it is a task for people like you? It is for the one who has become a Purush (Self-realized) and is a purusharthi. What can one who is a pawn do? Ever since I was a boy I have been asking, What kind of people are these boys? What does flying a kite mean? After seeing others, one deduces that he gets enjoyment out of it. He believes that he gets enjoyment from what others show him. Never in my life have I bought a kite. When they make the kite string you can see the marks the kite strings leave on the hands and fingers (the string is coated with ground up glass); Look at the state of my hands they will say. I would tell them, You do the flying and I will watch. The real value is in the seeing. The foolish fly the kite! All this carries on because there is no understanding. Questioner: I did not understand that the value is in the seeing ; how is that? Dadashri: When you look at the kite, 14 January 2010

you also see the sun; the sunlight will penetrate your eyes a little. During the time of Makarsakranti the sun s transit into the Capricorn, the time of the year kite flying takes place in Mid January), the sun rays are very beneficial. Therefore this idea was for viewing the sun and not for flying kites. If you want to fly a kite, tie it down somewhere and it will fly on its own if it has enough energy; the string will unwind on its own. The poor people go to fly the kite out of ignorance. They have no awareness at all. Questioner: Was it the same with fire crackers. You did not light fire crackers, did you? Dadashri: The servants light the fireworks and royalty watches them. No king has ever lit the fireworks. They all sit in a comfortable chair and simply watch. The servants would light the firework. What do you think is right? If you were a king, would you light the fireworks or watch them? Questioner: I would watch them if I were the king. Dadashri: Oh, what is the difference between a king and you? Look at the Gayakvad (King of Gujarat State), he has the same guise and appearance. What is the difference? He does not have a village, nor do you. Is everybody not a king anymore? I have a habit of analyzing and verifying things and so I would look to see what is to be gained from flying kites or lighting fireworks. To fly a kite, is an exercise. However we should be concerned about what we gain out of it; shouldn t we? People just wander around on the roof tops without any awareness. In fact one person actually fell through the roof bringing it down with him! Did you make a nischaya decision not to fly kites? Questioner: You said that one should not follow the dictates of the mind, so I decided last night that I will not fly kites from now. Dadashri: Did you used to fly them before? Questioner: I flew them a lot. Dadashri: Every year? Questioner: Morning till evening for a week. Dadashri: Why only for a week? The season for it is so long. Questioner: No one is there to fly them later, is there? Dadashri: So you fly them only if others do, therefore other people are needed to fly kites. Questioner: When you hear shouting from the rooftops and terraces of the kite is cut kite is lose, I feel like running out there. Dadashri: But what does that have to do with us? Kite flying is not for us, is it? Instead of wasting a hundred rupees on a kite, would it not be worth spending that money on printing eight of our books? At least it will be beneficial to others. Is flying a kite necessary? Will you die if you did not get to do that? You need to do only that which will kill you if you did not. And yet one will say, I still have fondness for food. I tell them that let it be so because it gives you satisfaction. The body too gets the satisfaction. Even the intellect is satisfied. There is nothing wrong in it. Questioner: What kind of avaran (veil of ignorance) came over me? January

Dadashri: What is the purpose of asking that now? Questioner: I will have to get rid of that, will I not? Dadashri: If you keep getting rid of what I tell you, a time will come when you will not have to do what the mind tells you. When the mind tells you to fly a kite, say no to it. Only when the mind tells you, there is a whole ladvo (round balls of sweet made from flour, ghee, sugar, nuts and cardamom), let us eat half, then you may eat half of it. It is more than enough even if one comes into discipline What happens when one sits down to eat and they are late bringing the rice to him? He will stick his fingers in the lentil soup, if not that then he will stick his fingers in the vegetables (while he is waiting for the rice). He cannot restrain himself and the one who knows how to restrain his self, will be blessed. We do not fast, but we can follow the rule that, brother, have in limit, then stop. Now when she brings us some dhokla (backed flour dish), it is possible that we can eat four times than this, we like it very much too, but no. Questioner: So will that rule be followed depending on jagruti awakened awareness? Dadashri: Everyone has the awareness, but one cannot maintain self control over something that he likes the taste of. It is difficult to remain in control. As one becomes the Self, control becomes easy. Reach from purushartha to parakram Dadashri: What happens to you? Questioner: During the course of the day, when a circumstance arises, it will cause one of the tubers of sex to sprout, but I instantly apply the three-vision. (In this three step vision, one visualizes the attractive sexual being, as naked in the first vision, without skin in the second vision, and with all the inner organs exposed in the third vision for the aim of seeing the non-self complex, as it is). Dadashri: It would take jumping in the river only once in order for a person to drown or would a person have to jump everyday to drown? If a person drowns in a river just once, then would there be any more problems? Is the river going to lose anything? Questioner: What does the river have to lose? Dadashri: Then who loses? Questioner: The one who dies loses. Dadashri: Is that so? But you just said that your tuber of sexuality still sprouts? Questioner: What is the reason behind that? Dadashri: That you have to figure out. To start with, you do not remain in the Agnas and then you are asking why? Authors of scriptures have called a single act of abrahmacharya death. Die if you have to but do not lose brahmacharya. There is not as much filth even in hell as there is in sexuality vishaya, but these jivas living beings do not realize this because of ignorance and unawareness. Only the Gnani Purush, who has the awareness, can see right through. How can the One whose vision is so developed, ever have any raag attachment? If awareness is not present when the 16 January 2010

force of karma unfolds, recite loudly, the sentences of Gnan to bring it back, and confront the karma. That is called parakram (an extraordinary inner effort). To invoke the extraordinary inner energies of the Self (Atmashakti, swa-virya) against kashaya and vishaya sexuality is called parakram. Nobody has any power against parakram. Questioner: When there is a great attack, it gets shaken up. Dadashri: That verily is called a weak nischaya on your part. You have to make sure that your nischaya does not weaken. Attack will occur if the circumstances are appropriate. If there is even a smell of sexuality, it is bound to affect you, is it not? So you should have the nischaya that you do not want to be affected by it. Nothing will happen if you have the nischaya. There is everything where there is nischaya. Here there is the power of purushartha. Purushartha happens after becoming the Purush (the Self), this is the power of that; it is very powerful. Still, what we are saying is that you should recognize your weakness, but you should stand brave towards it so that sooner or later that weakness will leave. It will go away one day if you become courageous towards it; but it should bother you that this is wrong. Some people show enough power without Gnan, Arey yaar, janey dey; himmatey marda toh madadey khuda - Hey let it go, God helps those who help themselves ; so are we not understanding this much better when we have the Gnan? Bravery arises when he says God helps those who help themselves. Ours is a science. How is it possible for a scientist to not have bravery? There was no one to tell me all this. You are very fortunate that you have met a Gnani Purush; otherwise you will find people who will put you on the wrong track. There is no nischaya where one s intent is deceptive Questioner: Is having a deceptive intent a weakness in the resolution nischaya? Dadashri: It is not a weakness. It is not a decision at all! Weaknesses can be removed, but here there is no decision present at all to begin with. Questioner: But is there a difference between a slight deceptive intent or a complete deceptive intent? Dadashri: Becoming deceptive means it is completely deceptive. If you are building a home, you have to allow for doors and windows in your plan right from the start. So your decision should be firm from the start. Then is it good to steal later? How can you even think a little about it? How can you even think about sexuality abrahmacharya? What I have told you to do is you should uproot it and throw it away the moment it sprouts; otherwise there is no other danger greater than this. Questioner: Dada has cautioned us once or twice about deceptive intent but still I am not able to quite comprehend it. Dadashri: What do you want to do with comprehension? It will happen automatically when he (the relative self) gets kicked around; when he suffers from within. Now the experience will start; will it not? One takes an exam and then the experience begins, does it not? Questioner: If the intent for brahmacharya is not weak or deceptive then January

would thoughts of sexuality completely stop coming? Dadashri: No, let the thoughts come. What objection do we have against thoughts? Thoughts will never stop. The intent must not be deceptive; that is all. Regardless of any enticing and temptation from within, one will not succumb. How dare such thoughts arise? Questioner: There still exists some deceptive intent. Dadashri: One will know that the intent is deceptive. Questioner: Then, will lots of thoughts sprout some time? Dadashri: Let thousands of thoughts sprout, still. Questioner: Then the bliss within goes down. Dadashri: When that bliss goes down, one burns with penance; everything turns red hot within. You have no choice but do the penance during that time, no? Just because the bliss goes down, does that mean you have to take on suffering? Questioner: That is why I asked whether it happens because the intent is deceptive. Dadashri: No, the intent is not deceptive. Here one needs to be like a Kshatriya (warrior). What did the Rana, King of Chittode say? I will not give in. I will never bow down. He relinquished his throne but he did not bow down. He ran away but he did not bow down. The Moghal King had told him that he could retain his throne if he bowed down to the Moghal King, but he replied, No, I do not want the throne like that. I, the Rana of Chittode will not bow. Questioner: The prakruti still bothers. But when the inner plate becomes red hot in penance, that is when the real experience of Dada the Self happens. Dadashri: You have to finish that tapa the inner penance of seeing the sufferer; and then You will experience the bliss. There is endless bliss when You jump over the fence into the realm of the Self. Wavering decision is a loophole of deception Questioner: What does celibacy brahmacharya should be in one s swabhaav nature mean? Dadashri: Where did you get this sentence brahmacharya must remain in one s swabhaav from? The Self is verily brahmachari beyond any sexual impulses by nature. It does not need to become celibate. Questioner: You had made the statement that only if a person had previously in the past life made the bhaav intent to practice celibacy, would it come into effect in this life and that he would be able to be in it and remain celibate. Dadashri: If one had made the inner intent in his past life, he will very forcefully declare, I want to practice celibacy, but otherwise from within there will be uncertainty. What can one do? Questioner: He will be waver. Dadashri: Yes, he will be wavering as to whether he should do this or do that. For a while he will change his mind and then after while he will think about practicing it. Do you ever have a change of mind? 18 January 2010

Questioner: No, I do not. Dadashri: Since when? Questioner: Since the past four months. Dadashri: Four months? So this plant cannot be considered mature yet, can it? We can call it a small plant. It can be easily crushed if a cow were to trample over it. Questioner: If a person s firm decision about practicing brahmacharya wavers, then is it due to the effect of the wavering inner intent of his previous life? Dadashri: No, that is not the case. It is because his nischaya is not a nischaya. He has not made a firm decision. It is not a result of his previous life. He made this so-called, firm decision, by watching others. His decision wavers because it is done because others around him are doing it. Why don t you get married instead; what do you have to lose? At least you will help some girl get settled. And the responsibility lies with the one who gets married, is it not? Does the one who is not married have any responsibility? Will you have any responsibility when someone else gets married? Take on only the weight you can carry. You should be strong enough to carry the weight, should you not? Remain a bachelor if you cannot handle the weight, stay a celibate. Should you not practice celibacy? That which breaks a firm decision Questioner: Who breaks our firm decision? Dadashri: It is your own ego. It is the ego that is with illusory attachment, moorchit ahankar. It is like a drunk roaming within you, it is the one that makes you break it. Questioner: What should I do when it is like that? Dadashri: There is nothing to be done, is there? Nothing of the sort will be there for the one who practices Dada s Agna, will there? I am Shuddhatma, then all the rest has to be simply seen ; nothing will be there for sure if You practice the Agnas. But one has not understood what the Agnas are, has he? He deals with the situation with equanimity sambhaav, with some limited understanding now. But that one within who has drunk the alcohol of illusory attraction is stirring up things within, no? The ego within one roams around the whole day being intoxicated from the alcohol of moha and he gets pulled to anything that will cause moha illusory attraction. Questioner: Will a firm decision (nischaya) not be helpful there? Dadashri: It will help, but only if one has remained in nischaya from the start and is within the Agnas of Dada. Dada s Agnas will strengthen the nischaya. Such nischaya can be of help but deceptive decision will not work. What should the nischaya be like? One that will never budge, in fact it should never be necessary for you to say I have made a nischaya. Whereas, here one will make a decision that, I do not want to eat this and next day he is eating that thing. Hence by remaining in Dada s Agnas the nischaya decision is strengthened, and then it cannot be altered. You should continue to practice our Agna. Agnas are good and easy. One must see relative and real at least one hour in a whole day. So that will strengthen the nischaya; these Agnas will make Your nischaya strong. You have to derive the essence of what we are saying. Just grab on to that one sentence. Your current food January

worldly intake is such that all sentences of the Five Agnas will not remain in Your awareness at a time! Questioner: What kind of nischaya firm decision should I make? Dadashri: Whatever nischaya you have made, it will help you attain that goal. Atma the Self has infinite energies and those energies will begin to manifest. Atma the Self is in the form of nischaya and Your nischaya is needed. A wavering nischaya will not do. Just one strong opinion can make one renounce his entire life! What happens if the opinion is slightly weak? Man will not have any control when karma effect arises, he will then slip. Hey you! He will even get married. What does it mean that the opinion is not strong? It means that he has given himself some freedom in it. There can be no exceptions in brahmacharya This gentleman is saying right; what is the meaning if the decision is wavering? The only reason for wavering decision is that you are trying to follow as other people around are doing, you are running but you cannot even run, and then you have to stop and rest for a while, don t you? Questioner: What if one wavers after taking up the vow of celibacy - brahmacharya? Dadashri: A wavering person will not be able to take a vow of celibacy and if he does, he will not succeed in practicing it. When a person wavers, is that not indicative of coming events cast their shadows before? Brahmacharya is one place where you cannot make any exceptions. Because the mind is looking for loopholes and wherever there is the slightest hole, the mind will make it larger. Questioner: What tendencies vruttis are working within, when one searches for a loophole? Dadashri: It is the mind that is working, not the tendencies of the chit. It is the nature of the mind to search for loopholes of escape and deception pol. Questioner: How can one prevent the mind from looking for loopholes pol? Dadashri: With nischaya, a firm unflinching decision. How can it look for a loophole, if Your decision is firm? If Your decision is firm then nobody can find a loophole. Similarly, a person who has made a firm decision not to eat meat will never eat meat. Questioner: So, should we have a firm decision in every matter? Dadashri: A firm decision is what makes everything work. Questioner: If you place so much emphasis on nischaya, then is that not considered as kramic path? Dadashri: No, it has nothing to do with the kramic path. Where did this kramic path come from after attaining the Gnan? Kramic step by step path is applicable only as long as one has not attained the Gnan; after attaining the Self, kramic does not exist at all. Questioner: After realizing the Self, does one need nischaya in relative matters? Dadashri: You, the Self, do not have to keep the firm decision, do You? You have to tell Chandubhai file number one to make the firm decision and stick to it properly. 20 January 2010

If you need to ask questions about this, then you are searching for loopholes. Therefore, whenever there is a need to ask such questions tell him* (*insert your name) to be quiet. Tell him, get out, so he will become quiet. Everything will disappear the moment You say this. Against different kinds of loopholes Questioner: How can we understand whether we are practicing the vow of celibacy or not? Dadashri: Would you not know whether there is glitter in your eyes or not, when you like those thoughts? This is because the Atma the Self, is like a thermometer (gauge); it will immediately know that things are on the wrong path. Questioner: So one s nischaya is solid but whatever happens from now is part of the effect, is it not? Dadashri: What do we consider as an effect? The part where one says he does not want to go to the latrine (one has no choice but undergo the experience). He cannot relieve himself in the house and so he has to hold it until he gets to the toilet. That is considered as part of the effect udaya. It cannot be considered as udaya (karma effect) if he sits down any place he likes and relieve himself. What happens in sexuality is that one likes it, it is a habit from the past (life). He has a habit of enjoying it and so he sticks his hand in the effect part (unfolding effect of karma). The udaya part of effect is when he says absolutely no to it and remains strong right till the end; he says he does not want to slip. Then, if he slips, it is a different matter. How much care one takes in order not to slip? If one remains careful, then there is no problem. Questioner: So this is a very subtle demarcation. Dadashri: Very subtle. Questioner: One can understand this by remaining strict. He has to become strict himself. Dadashri: One has to be strict, and it is a different matter if he still slips. Just like a man swimming in a lake; he does not have any intention of drowning. Questioner: The strong decision nischaya one makes towards celibacy now, on what basis does that happen? What is the strong nischaya dependent upon? Dadashri: It depends on what You want to do. When a young boy jumps in the water to play and swim, on what basis does he make a decision nischaya to survive? Questioner: Because he wants to live. Dadashri: But what will happen if the attitude is what does it matter if I live or die? Questioner: He will sink. One arrives at a right understanding and discrimination about brahmacharya; and on that basis only, this unflinching decision nischaya happens? Dadashri: He understands what I will do to be happy. He searches for sukha bliss that is eternal. The Self by nature is verily brahmachari celibate. No obstacles where there is a firm decision Questioner: You said that one has created obstacles and then he says that he cannot see. In connection to that, how and what obstacles hinder in the matter applying the three-vision? January

Dadashri: Nothing hinders the one who makes a nischaya to practice brahmacharya. These are all excuses one comes up with. How strong and resolute our mahatmas are? They do not falter a bit. Three-vision is a helpful tool, but the one who has the nischaya; the one who does not want to fall, why would he jump into a well? Is your nischaya strong? Absolutely strong? Questioner: Absolutely. Dadashri: Yes, that is how it should be. How strong they all are! It is those whose nischaya is wishy-washy who keep looking for such excuses and create obstacles. If one decides that he definitely does not want to even delve in it, then he will not do so. Then is anyone going to push him into it? There will be bliss but is one likely to experience bliss if he goes around looking for obstacles? Questioner: There are other solutions too, are there not? There are other solutions like pratikraman too, besides the three-vision, are there not? Dadashri: Pratikraman is for the mistakes of the mind. Otherwise where is need for even pratikraman? Nischaya means nothing scares him. All this is for someone who is not decisive. Why is he looking for other solutions? Nischaya means nischaya! If one does not want to get married, then he has to decide that he does not want to get married, then is there anyone to get him married? And the one who wants to get married, he does not need to get distressed; he should go ahead and get married. He cannot have both ways. If a man who has not slept for four days were to sit on the edge of a well, but was determined not to fall into the well, he would not. He would stay awake. Questioner: There he can see directly, with his own eyes that he will fall in there. Dadashri: Yes, whereas this pratyaksha (what is in front) sexuality is even worse than that. What a deep ditch this is! Entanglements of endless life times will cling on to you. Hence, brahmacharya can be attained if one has a strong mind, otherwise nothing can be attained. This is not something that can be sewn with the threads of a weak mind. How strong should it be? I will not let go of my brahmacharya even if I have to die ; that is how strong it should be. Strength of the decision depends upon the lack of a loophole You have a strong nischaya, do you not? Questioner: Absolutely strong. It even becomes strong when we keep saying it is strong, it is strong. Dadashri: Is that so? Questioner: Everything comes our way as our nischaya gets stronger. Dadashri: When that secrecy is over, one becomes open to sky. All this secrecy is because of all that is concealed. Otherwise You will be able to speak the way we do, there is no secrecy. Look at the faces of these who enjoy eternal bliss. Do they look as if they have swallowed castor oil? And what about the faces of those who do not enjoy this bliss? Questioner: I have no secrecy and my nischaya is strong. I have disclosed everything 22 January 2010

in alochana (Heart-felt recall and confession of one s mistake). Dadashri: That is all fine, but you do not have to look for all this storms and difficulties. Nischaya means that one does not have to look for anything else. It the Bliss of the Self, will show up by itself. You do not need anything else. What do You care, whether it accomplished brahmacharya comes or not; you remain in your home you have to say. Just because it does not come, should You be holding your breath for it? Just hang on to your unflinching decision nischaya only. Questioner: I constantly feel that I have such a strong nischaya, I have this circumstance to be with the Gnani Purush, I live with the aptaputras (young men in training under the Gnani for the work of salvation of the world, male brahmacharis), I do not have any interest in this sexuality at all. Despite all this, why is the attraction to sexuality lingering within? Dadashri: This attraction that happens is the effect of karma of past life. For that you have to do shoot-on-sight pratikraman. Questioner: Pratikraman? Dadashri: Yes. It does not destroy your nischaya; the eyes like it so they get pulled in that direction; that is not a fault. That will automatically get washed off with pratikraman. It is a mistake of past life and the eyes will go only where there is an account of karma, otherwise they will not go anywhere. When you encounter an account of karma, the attraction will happen. By doing pratikraman, it can be washed off. What else can you do? Even if you have the three-vision, you can see the attraction happening. Is this something that can be understood or not? Questioner: Yes, I do understand. I was just thinking that I have received such a wonderful Gnan; I have met such wonderful circumstances to be free and that it would be nice if I can become pure in this specific matter. Dadashri: Yes, but it is pure indeed, for sure. It is pure as long as there is nischaya, and it is wrong to entertain and believe any such ashuddhata impurity. It remains pure because of Your nischaya. Then if any attraction happens, there are solutions for it. The attraction is such that it will make you slip, but having slipped, is it a fault? You just have to get back on your feet and move on. If the clothes get tainted and stained, wash them off! If You slip willingly, then it is a fault. Having slipped as an incident is not a fault. There is no fault if the slipping happens despite your decision not to. Questioner: I feel the continuous remorse within that having attained such a wonderful Gnan, why am I still experiencing this state? Dadashri: No, everyone experiences that. However, if you wash it off with pratikraman, Your work is done. Otherwise it will remain pending. Having put your signature on it in the past life, it will not leave you alone, will it? Except for brahmacharya everything in human body is beastliness Dadashri: Will you complete the course of brahmacharya? Questioner: Absolutely. I do not want sexuality at all. My nischaya of celibacy is prevalent but what should I do when My purushartha falls short? Dadashri: There is no weakness in That January

purushartha. Nischaya is itself the purushartha. Questioner: If the nischaya is there, then it brahmacharya would remain for sure. Dadashri: That weakness is in the discharge part; the weakness is in the effect part. That which is not in the cause-charging part, and is in the discharging-effect part, has no value. Questioner: As far as sexuality is concerned, I have been strong about it from the beginning and I have maintained greater awareness right till the end, but when these other worldly life occasions arise Dadashri: There is no value to the other things. There is no value of the rest at all. The value is of this only, of brahmacharya. The rest within the human body is sheer animal nature paashavataa only. The fault is of beastliness; it has no value at all. Questioner: However, there is such a strong commitment to the nischaya that no matter what, I do not want it anymore for sure, and I will kill Chandu-file number one if it ever happens. Dadashri: Then your brahmacharya is good. You need that kind of understanding. However, the rest which is beastliness will not cease, will it? This is how the links of sexuality break You should continue doing this when you are free, no matter where you are sitting or working. Even when you are in your office sitting idle, You should strengthen Your nischaya for a while. How long will it take you to read couple of words? So the links that are going on within, they will all break. They will scatter them here and there. Those links have to be scattered. Those links increase sexuality. Do you experience the bliss within when you do samayik-pratikraman? Do you not feel as if You are liberated? Questioner: The chit that was wandering around, the mind that was thinking, they stop; that is where everything is halted. Dadashri: Everything will stop. It is like this, if You make other arrangements, then the poor vishaya sexual inclination is such that it will stand away at a distance. It will be scared to come near You. Just as when if some highly cultured people are standing around, no riffraffs will come close. Questioner: Since you have been talking for the past two days, a kind of an extra effort parakram - extraordinary inner energies of the Self against kashayas and vishaya has arisen within me, such that all the loopholes pol that existed have closed. Dadashri: Yes, they will close. Dada s words will do that. All polumpol loops of deception will cease and be closed. It is very good if You preserve it carefully. You are strong and exact within and strong and exact in this too. But if one remains just as firm and exact in this, then it will become first class in this. This is a skill of a kind, no? You should do as you are told. You will not get this opportunity again and again. This is the ultimate line of talks. Take advantage of this final opportunity and get Your work done. Nischaya: that which follows that which has been decided Questioner: I am still not able to do the pratikramans that should be done. 24 January 2010

Dadashri: Whatever you want to do, you have to make a decision nischaya for that. Questioner: To make a decision means again the ego is involved in doing that action, isn t it? What is that thing? Please explain that. Dadashri: It is for the sake of saying; it is only for the saying. Questioner: Many mahatmas understanding is that, We do not have to do anything at all; we do not have to even make a decision nischaya. Dadashri: No, if they ask Me then I would tell him that, how can you make a decision nischaya without ego? That nischaya means to follow according to that which has been decided. What is meant by decided? It means not this, and this is it. That is all. It should not be thus; it should be thus. We cannot say that it is a wrong belief, but we have to speak this way with the words then that talk will reach; otherwise it will not reach at all. But this will reach. Who will ransack the filth after tasting the supreme bliss? Questioner: Very good satsang was received today. Dadashri: Yes, a talk came forth on brahmacharya, no! We will need to shake off the rust which has taken hold, won t we? I am ready to cleanse and forgive as many faults committed in past, for You; however new errors must not be committed. Now You have attained true sukha happiness. As long as you lack bliss, enjoy the aropit happiness from relative self (aropit, I am Chandulal ). But now it is possible to attain the bliss of the Self, supreme bliss at anytime you want, so then why do you want all such other pleasures now? Someone says that previous karma is the obstruction. Yes, karma can obstruct, but when can we call it an obstruction of karma? When a person unknowingly falls in the well then it is called that his past karma obstructed him. Therefore just as one makes an unflinching decision nischaya that I do not want to fall in the well at all, such a decision has to be made that I do not want to fall in the well of sexuality at all. Thereafter, if one happens to fall then we forgive him for that fault. We do not forgive the fault of the one who knowingly and willingly jumps into the well of sexuality. But at this place I do forgive all the faults. Now how much can I forgive? Where there is no risk, we do allow you to do it; we do allow you to eat and drink everything, have I not allowed you to do all that? One s firm decision and Gnani s power of words Because of our vachanbud (the power of words), it (celibacy) has become regular (normalized) for many people. Our vachanbud and your unshakable decision, no one has the power to alter anything if these two multiply. That is how our energy of words is. What we are telling you is, become unshakable. Do not become weak here. You should have an unshakable decision (nischaya) that Dada s Agna is religion and that the Agna is the main thing. We do not give anyone a vow of celibacy, and even if we do give the vow to anyone, we tell them that our vachanbud has so much power that it can change the effect of karma, provided Your firmness is not broken. You should remain very strong. No one else can do this work except the January

Gnani s vachanbud; that is how strong it is. Gnani s manobud (energy of his mind) is something else! His energy of words is so powerful because He is not the owner of those words; he is not the owner of the mind. There is no energy in the words of the one who is an owner of his speech. Whole world has become owners of their speech; their words do not carry any power. If the speech coming out is like a record playing (the one speaking does not have any ownership at all to the words), then it is considered as vachanbud. The energy of our words (vachanbud) is such that it will allow you to practice anything. It will destroy all the karma. There is tremendous energy in our words; they will get Your work done. Karma will not be able to shake the one who is unshakable. It cannot be considered as vachanbud if karma can shake it, can it? Vitarag Lords have considered vachanbud (power of words; energy in words) and manobud (power of the mind; energy in the mind) as the topmost thing, and dehabud (power of the physical body) as bestial energy. We don t have anything to do with the power of the physical body; vachanbud (power of speech) however, is of great significance. Questioner: What is manobud? When celibacy becomes strong, it is unshakable, is that the same thing as manobud? Dadashri: When one monkey jumps, another will also jump. So when he sees it once, he gets the courage to jump too. In doing so, its power of mind (manobud) increases. But how can the one who has never seen anyone jump, jump himself? Questioner: So as one hears all this talk, he starts jumping? Dadashri: But at the same time he has the desire within; he has the inner intent; only then will it become strong. Questioner: I do have such inner intent. Dadashri: So then it will get stronger on its own. On the one side you put up a fence and on the other side a fox cuts holes in the fence, so what happens if you do not fix that hole? Do you not have to keep fixing the holes? And also continue putting up new fences. That can all be done if your inner intent is strong. Questioner: Does fixing the past holes mean doing pratikraman? Dadashri: You have to do pratikraman, but the weakness has to go away, does it not? Should your mind not be strong? It should be so that your vision does not go that way. If you have decided in the mind that you do not want to see that, then you will not look there. Then even if it haunts you like a ghost, you will not look that way, you will not be scared of it. It is the real thing when the power of the mind (manobud) is nurtured day by day in this manner. Questioner: Not the slightest of that desire arises within. Dadashri: It seems that way. It will seem like that for couple of days, but You will know the truth when you look at the total outcome of ten years. If You practice our Agnas exactly, and keep this Gnan in exactness and with sincerity then it will take anywhere from eleven years to fourteen years for You to attain completion. ~ Jai Sat Chit Anand 26 January 2010

The Grand Celebration of Life Installation Ceremony of Non-sectarian Trimandir at Bhuj, India Absolutely revered Gnani Purush Dadashri had expressed his inner intent before many years that a non-sectarian Trimandir should be established in Kutch. This has been fulfilled through the construction of Trimandir at Bhuj in December A grand celebration of pran pratishtha life installation ceremony in non-sectarian Trimandir, took place in Bhuj, from 20 to 27 December, Approximately seven to eight thousand mahatmas-seekers from all districts of Gujarat, five hundred mahatmas from different states of India, about three hundred mahatmas from foreign countries attended this celebration. During this great celebration, a theme park was constructed as a special attraction for the local people, where multimedia shows based on the concept of dharma no marma - Essence of Religion, Banyu te Nyaya Whatever has happened is justice, and wonderful documentary films giving glimpses of the lives of absolutely revered Dadashri and Pujya Niruma were shown. In addition a children s park was specially built for children; in this a puppet show, magical glasses, total experience and exhibition presenting the keys of the happiness, were shown. Approximately 20,000 children from about 100 schools and about 80,000 people from Bhuj and Kutch district area had taken benefit of this theme park and children s park. On the first three days from 20 to 22 December, arrangement was made such that school children can get special benefit of these exhibits. All the spiritual aspirants and mahatmas, visiting from local areas and around the world; were satisfied by getting the solutions of their questions during 23rd, 24th and 26th December, in question-answer satsang sessions. On December 25, 2009, about 3700 people attained Atmagnan Self-realization in the Gnan Vidhi of Dadashri conducted by Atmagnani Pujya Deepakbhai Desai. The life installation of the future Tirthankara Lord Shri Padmanabha Prabhu, Shri Padmavati Mataji, Shri Hanumanji, Shri Ganpatiji, Shri Parvati Devi, Lord Shri Rushabhadev, Lord Shri Ajitnath and Shri Panchaguli Yakshinidevi took place from 6:00 am to 8:00am on December 25, The Pran Pratishtha life installation ceremony of the Great Saint Shri Sai Baba, Shri Amba Mataji, Shri Ashapura Mataji, Shri Bhadrakali Mataji, Shri Chakreshwari Mataji, Lord Shri Parsvanath, Lord Shri Mahavira, Shri Chandrayan Yakshadev took place from 6:00am to 8:00am on December 26, The Pran Pratishtha of main three fundamental Gods, current living Tirthankara Lord Shri Simandhar Swami, the three forms of Lord Shri Krishna (Yogeshwara, Shrinathji, Shri Tirupati Balaji) and the embodiment of salvation Shri Lord Shiva took place from 6:00am to 9:00am on December 27, Thereafter Atmagnani Pujya Deepakbhai Desai had done prakshal-pujan (ceremonious bathing, worship) of Lord Shri Simandhar Swami. Thereafter all the sacred instilled Gods and celestial deities were decorated with garland of flowers and jeweled ornaments. Arati (lamp waving ceremony) of all three instilled main Lords were done. Every night during celebration, a special program of worship bhakti took place where a crescendo of melodies of devotional songs of Lord Simandhar Swami and Dada Bhagwan, entranced all present. Huge numbers of local people rushed enthusiastically in long lines to do the darshan on the last day of the Pratishtha installation. Everyone was so much astonished by looking at the extremely beautiful idols of all Gods and deities and kept admiring the Trimandir. Pujya Deepakbhai then gave special satsang, granted darshan and blessings to about 2500 mahatmas who had given their endless sincere selfless service to this great cause. Thus, these eight days long grand celebration ended with great joy and cheer. ~ Jai Sat Chit Anand January
