2 How would it feel to make a journey to the land of lights, love, art and mystery? To spend a week of your Summer as an Artist, with Artist Shiloh Sophia McCloud and Sue Hoya Sellars. To have a date with none other than your MUSE in Paris. Hasn t your MUSE always wanted to go to Paris? I would imagine that would feel like an idea whose time has come. What have you been waiting for? The time to journey to Paris has come. We cannot always wait for the right time, we have to seize the day when the call comes and the Muse has called.youhooooo it is time for an adventure like no other. Rumor has it that Paris is the place to go when you are ready to fall in love again, with yourself and with life. Doesn t that just sound juicy? Would you like the chance to go to Paris through the eyes of a painter and a poet, a dreamer? This is the chance of a lifetime. The thing is you will be going with an artist and a poet, Shiloh Sophia, but also as an artist. YOU. This voyage is about entering into the space of BEING an artist and poet of interacting and observing life from the perspective of a creative being. There is nor painting or poetry experience required all that is needed is for your Muse to tug on you and say... We are going... are you coming too?

3 Let me ask you a question or two. But perhaps your Muse should answer. Before you answer take a moment to summon her who lives within. 4 Plus Special Guest - My Beautiful Mentor To my delight, we will be joined in Paris by my beloved teacher, the Master Painter Sue Hoya Sellars. Sue is the one my students study with when they want to move from artist into PAINTER because she is the one who brings in the real techniques and skills of painting like the Masters. She will be working with you on your creations in our plein air environments and providing art education and insight like you have never heard before. Here s the wonderful thing - Sue has never been to Paris. Hasn t seen the Louvre - and so you will be experiencing this majesty with her. The artists she has studied her whole life - now being witnessed in the flesh of their very paintings. Sue is 78. If you are longing to study with a modern master - it is time. About Sue: Sue Hoya Sellars was born in Prince George s County, Maryland, where she was mentored while in her early teens by renowned sculptor, Lenore Thomas Straus, and studied biological illustrating with Jan Roemhild. She attended the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC. and the San Francisco Art Institute under the instruction with Wayne Tiebaugh. At age nineteen, she became the youngest person to hold the position of head illustrator for the George Vanderbilt Foundation at Stanford University. She studied anatomy at the San Francisco School of Physicians and Surgeons while illustrating with Dr. Forbes and biological engineer, Hugh Hinchcliff, and had private anatomy studies with Dr. Deborah Karish. She was an illustrator for Janet Bollow and Associates for three decades, illustrating college text books covering Anthropology, Biology, Geology, Psychology, and Sociology. She attended the School of Electronic Art in San Francisco. Sue opened Gaia Wood studio, now Blue Heron Studio, producing illustrations and Object D art in porcelain and stone ware. Her work was handled by a number of galleries throughout the country, and has been showing with Color of Woman Gallery since Sue defines her inspiration in terms of questions. She says: After illustrating biological structures for over 45 years, my questions shifted from What does life do in these structures, to how did life get into these structures?, and Who is this consciousness that lives in here? Who is it that is even doing this wondering?

6 Dear Adventurous One, This is the stuff that dreams are made of. Isn t it exciting to consider a voyage to PARIS? Just saying the word: Paris thrills my soul. I have been there twice but Paris shows up in my paintings, dreams and poetry continually. Paris becomes a part of you. The creativity, the wonder, the history, the art, the cafes, the romantic nature of the whole thing just makes my Muse go wild. As I imagine voyaging with you wonderful ones I am just blown away at the chance to spend this kind of time together. Aren t you? Yes it is once in a lifetime because what we create will never happen this way again Paris is a city of art and creativity it is flowing from the streets, the windows, the cafes and just calls for an encounter with your MUSE. All Muses love Paris. Don t you think? We are approaching this with nothing less than an absolute dream-worthy context. We are going to paint in Paris this whole offer could just say that. We are painting plein air in Paris. This is a great adventure. Paris is SO alive with light and people. The cafe scene alone is so worth being a part of and it stays light until almost 10:00 pm so the sense of a full day is incredible, especially if we are enjoying the mornings to ourselves. Yes we have lots of things planned but have several mornings open for you to explore on your own. We are part of a group but there is also sovereignty available at all times, including your own private hotel room. And just imagine a French easel set up in front of the Eiffel tower, one of the most photographed and painted images in the world. Are you in?

7 I hope so because I cannot stop dreaming of the smell of chocolate croissants and even if you are gluten intolerant I will tell you what these croissants don t make me react the way wheat in the US does. It fed my creative soul and that is why we are working with the themes of voyage of dreams, and soul nourishment. I know for me, in my second journey to Paris, there was something that felt like coming home to this place where the creatives live. I was SO struck by the cafes! You know me and my Red Thread Cafe which I take with me everywhere! So this is a chance to come be with me in the traveling Red Thread Cafe! We will visit one of Jonathan s favorite spots, and mine now too, the famous Shakespeare and Company bookstore where the piano is often played by random guests and poetry pours from the walls including your your private Parisian Journal where your inner poet gets activated. Here s what was most striking to me when we went to the cafes: no computers and very few cell phones. Late into the night and early in the morning, the people of Paris could be seen just talking and talking and reading and writing and sketching and yes, all in the tourist areas. They were all there enjoying with us, not just separated out from those of us wanting to get a taste. Each of us will be working with a journal and exploring what symbols, ideas, dreams and hopes for our future arise and bring the MUSE to live with us into our hearts not just when we are inspired or have time to create. This way of being with the Muse, which is about being FULLY alive and awake, is possible through choice but often she needs an activation ritual. I cannot think of a better ritual for that than Paris!

8 I loved the sense of being a Cosmic Cowgirl in Paris... ducking under awnings with my poetry and journal to watch the passers by. We travel as artists, poets and creatives, adventurers taking France by storm. Get your brushes loaded! You won t believe how wonderful the Paris art stores are! Jonathan and I will still be in our honeymoon phase so there is definitely an air of love about this journey as we are getting married in July. I want to have a REALLLLLY good time with you. Are you ready for that? We will make a dream together, I feel so happy that you are coming and that you are part of this dream voyage. Thank you for saying yes to the adventure. At one cafe, rose petals were tossed on our table in Paris. I thought, Yep! I am in the right place! Paris speaks my language and I would imagine the language of your very own Muse. 9 Proposed Itinerary - How Does this sound? Day 1: August 13 Red Thread Circle and Cocktail Party. We have our first gathering for Red Thread Circle Day 2: August 14 PARIS! PARIS! PARIS! We see some Hot Spots used by painters and poets along the Seine River including Montmartre, Montparnasse, Champs Elysees and more! Plus, our visit to Sennelier art store and the Shakespeare & Co. Book store. This will be a taste of Paris and give you a lay of the land. Spontaneous poetry will happen along the river we will find ourselves dining at a petite cafe over candlelight. Day 3: August 15 Painting at the Eiffel Tower, bringing a picnic lunch and we will be taking the Batobus through Paris. After a rest in the late afternoon it is time to dress. Later that evening picture yourself at sunset with your private photographer capturing images of you in your legendary and celebratory Muse outfit on the Pont Neuf Bridge, the oldest bridge in Paris. Ya we know some of you might not want to do this, but don t miss being photographed in Paris. Let s cause a stir. WHO ARE those people? Day 4: August 16 We will be traveling into the French countryside and to Chartres Cathedral to visit two Black Madonnas and the famous Chartres Labyrinth and Catacombs and paint together. Last year, we painted right inside the very Cathedral itself with wide-eyed children singing prayers to us as we painted. Lunch will be enjoyed in Chartres at a lovely cafe near the center. Then, we ll voyage back to Paris with dining occurring at Chateau Rouge for La Grande Fete.

10 Proposed Itinerary Continued... Day 5: August 17 Voyage to Monet s Garden in Giverny. This is one of the most beautiful and inspiring places on earth. We will paint in Monet s Poppy Field if the poppies are still in bloom! We will return to Paris that evening and for dinner together at the Villa Jonathan s special feast for the senses. Day 6: August 18 - Yes, it s The Louvre! The Louvre is unsurpassed in the world and known for its vast collections. OR a free day in Paris! Closing Circle at the Villa. Day 7: Departure August 19 You are welcome to remain in Paris, of course or travel onwards as you desire. We have had several people go on to Italy, Lourdes and other spots from here! 11 A Love Letter to Paris Mon Cherie, I can hardly wait to see you. I count the days until our souls touch again. I have missed our hot loud nights. The sound of your clinking glasses and how we all stayed up until we could smell the morning baguettes rising. I have missed your many hands talking at once in cafes where no one holds a computer but instead, each others hands. I love the way your buildings shimmer like wedding cakes ready for consumption. I do. I do. I do. When last I was with you you called to me from open windows with billowing red curtains behind black wrought iron curls. I answered you with poetry and with the thing you love the most: Obvious unbridled enjoyment of you. Paris. You require that I notice you while you act like you don t care if I do. There is a palpable mystery to your ways that have caused so many sleepless nights for poets and artists lured by your promise. But what promise do we come to you for? What is it about you, Paris? Do you make me believe I am more than I am by being the backdrop for MY beauty? With your views and arches spirals and spires and towers and turets and the Arc De Triomphe right there behind me - who would not be able to see what a creative soul I am? Is that your mystery, like the mystery of any truly good lover that you make me feel more than I am when I am with you? It is more than your stories. It is your energy. Yes, you are modern and ancient. Available, and just out of reach, like the ones we fall in love with but rarely get to keep hold of. Don t hold too tight or she will slip away in the night leaving only lace petticoats from Moulin Rouge as evidence. This time, I heard your call my name from across the sea. I am coming and I long to bring others with me, to see what I see and what the others have seen. Will you show us who you are? My love and I are headed your way, making plans to see you today. I think you still love me because you know what I know: that inside every single human being is a desire to create, and most especially to write poems and to speak them aloud in crowded cafes. To paint paintings and to show them at salons with eccentric friends in berets.

12 And it is you, Paris, that creates the very particles of access in which one might find their stride into their creative being-ness. You are the backdrop for becoming more of ones self. We use you for this purpose and you allow us because Muses know how to be used without being used up. You cannot use up a true Muse. It is in the using that she becomes. So Paris, I am on my way to you again. I cannot stay away. This is not news to you. I try to make myself content without you. Your stimulation invites my pleasure since you respond most, when I am brave enough to enjoy you, to let you into my being. We do not need to know your language or your ways to know, that in your lights we become beautiful in a way that our soul so very much longs for. I hope you don t mind, I am coming with friends. I want to show you to them so they can see what I see. For the restless creative hearts, you give us both rest and scintillation. We will be the ones with French Easels parked upon the Pont Neuf. I don t mind looking like tourists if you don t mind us looking at you with such mouth opened awe. I love you because of many reasons but most of all, it is because you let it be about me which takes nothing away from you. These kind of lovers are hard to find. You cause pen to page and paint to brush and song to break. This is why you have so many loyal lovers and why we keep coming back for more On the first morning, I will meet you alone in the Place du Montmartre for café crème and chocolate croissant. I will bring my brushes. As I close this letter I know you have no need for my praises and fawning over you. But I do. I need to know why I love you and why you rarely ever leave my heart.
