Kereti with 4 of his Sculptures... (to give a sense of scale), at Te Pataka Maramatanga Library, Hamilton......Using Maori Carving to exemplify Knowledge and understanding of Māori Spiritual Symbologies Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata
Collectively, these four pou represent a synthesis of the wisdoms of Te Ao Māori as well as the Universal humancentric wisdoms of the ages. They are infinitely imbued with symbolism Māori, Indigenous, and Universal symbology. They are intended to symbolise certain spiritual dimensions of the human being in relation to the world of nature, the Universe, Divinity and their inter-relationships.
The ethos of self-determination permeates Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, and its promotion of Māori ownership and management of taonga Māori (Maori treasures) is peremptory. (Ohia, 2004) Kali s 1st time ever modelling (for Rāranga Programme)
Libraries, museums & archives as repositories of knowledge are important for the sanctity, well being and survival of Māori knowledge.

Celebrating Matariki, the Maori New Year, Maori Language Week, Library Week to share knowledge and understanding
In early times, Whare Wānanga were institutions of higher learning, established especially for the advancement and retention of mātauranga Māori - a vibrational energy It is through this very vibration, like sonics (e.g. in a karanga) that Māori epistomology is conveyed to those who seek, practice and experience, not just Māori pedagogies (Hemara, 2000), but universal cosmic pedagogies (Rautangata, 2010).
The ancient language of divine illumination in the Art of Whakairo IRO knowledge Experience WHEAKO PŪ (Tāpokotea) WISDOM LIGHT Wisdom Principle WISDOM (Truth) is based on Inner Direct Experience of Reality (Superconsciousness). Only Super Conscious States can Transcend & FREE you. October 2008 Professor Kereti Rautangata
The first primordial language ever was sign language, the language of symbols or sacred geometrical building blocks of creation, e.g: VOWEL /PŪ ORO A Aether E Air I Fire O Water U Earth NGĀ AINGA PŪ ORO Impacts on the Head Area Gives Persuasiveness Stimulates throat region Gives Movement Stimulates Heart-Chest Area Gives Inspiration Activates Abdominal area Gives Mellowness Activates Base Chakra area Gives Solidarity
Māori knowledge was traditionally transmitted orally or through our unique art forms which began like these ancient rock drawings.
The ancient language of divine illumination in the Art of Whakairo Ainga Aorangi are symbols of the ancient language of Divine Illumination, and are tools of Transformation. Ainga Aorangi are patterns or formations for mahi mau rākau applications that impact and influence one s life, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually
...so beyond the Secular reo, was this Sacred Language - a language of transformational energies as used by the Tohunga in ancient times. AROHA (Love) KŌPU WAIRUA (Spirit) TOI (Art) MAURI (Life-Force) RĀ HIRINGA (Energy) MATAWHERO Whakawhitiwhiti WHAKAARO (Communication)
He Reo-Hiringa-Tawhito ancient language of divine illumination Ngā tohu Muna (the mystery symbols) o te Tiriti o Waitangi Miria Simpson s book, 1990:...
My Ngāti Mahanga tupuna Wiremu Neera Te Awaitaia (c April 1866), who later converted to Christianity and changed his name to William Naylor, was the eighteenth signatory to the Tiriti on the 11th of April, 1840 at Te Puaha o Waikato.
The Chiefs signed Te Tiriti with either: a) Their name in Māori b) Parts or all of their tā moko; or c) A tohu, as in the case of my tūpuna Te Awaitaia s signature is a X, a representation of the Astral Plane which could have meant that he operated from that higher level and was reputedly an expert at mau rākau. Wiremu Neera Te Awaitaia (c April 1866)
The art of matataki represents movement of (interior Transformational) LIGHT Patterns. It s purpose is as a challenge; and to welcome visitors. It is simultaneously, to celebrate and to transcend culture. Te Tuaio Rautangata performing a matataki at an event in our library at Te Pātaka Māramatanga, 2010 Kereti G. Rautangata performing a matataki to Prince Edward at 1990 Commonwealth Games, Auckland
Some of that sacred and secret reo from our ancient wānanga is contained within the carvings presented here today This is information literacy from a whakairo perspective
Carving is a language in its own right, a very accessible language too If the language dies, then so might the culture and the carving as well Fred Graham, Ngāti Koroki, Raukawa Nicholas, Darcy & Kaa, Keri, Seven Māori Artists, VR Ward Government Printer, Wellington, New Zealand, 1986 Te Haerenga Mai o Te Waka o Tainui
It is not even the finished carving that matters as much as the impact it has on one s consciousness, that engenders a degree of Māramatanga in the viewer or engager. In the end, we must transcend all symbols, form, and audible sound. Kereti Rautangata, 2010 The higher voltages that symbology expresses in carvings can literally transform all who observe and are
WHAKATEIHUMANEA A Knowledge Creation A Waka (Canoe) & Human Metaphor of Knowledge & Cultural Transformation In the World, but not of It Represents Limited Cultural KNOWLEDGE & Unlimited Universal KNOWLEDGE Knowledge & Experience, inevitably yields Wisdom
This waka abounds with symbology including (just to name a few), chakras, colours and carvers symbols for the Ariki Ngā Tama āriki (70) a Rangi rāua ko Papa Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata
Although we have myriads of Cultures World-wide, with their unique verities there is only ONE eye of the needle Through which passes Every conceivable shade of cotton Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata

Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata
Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata This Sculpture derives its form, from the combining of the Sun Light (Spirit), the Solar Logos & Moon Life (Soul)
Whāomoomo - a visual symbolic narrative of the Journey of Life, Celebrating our Cultural Specificities,... - from Te Kore, its (Intelligent) potential, - to realise its designated and purposeful fruition in this world, through - Cultural Transcendence Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata
...to optimise our potential and the mere roles we play In contributing to the evolution of our human whānau To guide inspired seekers of knowledge to expand through Māramatanga, to realise their own optimum potential Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata
Manaakitanga & Atawhai - Support, Nurturing; Mentoring & Re-Searching to Re-discover one s Divine Legacy Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata WAIHO TĀTOU KIA OHO AKE I TO TĀTOU MOE... HE TĀTAI TAPU, HE WHAKAHEKE ATUA... So, Let us awaken to the full Knowledge of our Divine Heritage
Whakatangatanga Nui (The Great Liberator), represents a very advanced person... who has achieved Cosmic Consciousness and Beyond; & experiences union with the Inner Spiritual Hierarchy. Such liberators unveils Higher Spiritual dimensions of Profound Prophetic Knowledge A Knowledge Creation
The Spiritual Warrior learns to re-awaken & use these dynamic Powers Selflessly, daily, to live Life with Power, Plan, Purpose & Control. The symbology for this poupou will teach you how to express Divine Power. A Knowledge Creation
The Star of Initiation (into the Inner dimensions) Represents the ability to work with Light, Hence, Profound Wisdom Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata

Te Whakatūmahu Whēteitei DIVINE HEALER - PROPHET This Pou represents someone who has gone through the whole cycle in their Spiritual journey. They are Cosmically Conscious & Experiences Union with Io Te Matua Kore. Is guided by Super-Natural Wisdom & Knowledge; and knows what needs to be done. Is the embodiment of active compassion & supernatural wisdom.
Double Flute (unique to Maori-dom) Represents Puoru the Sounds & Light Experiences In the Heart. Within the Inner Core of the Spiritual Heart, Abides an Intensely Bright Light, Undestroyable, Unchanging - Yearning for that person to fully awaken it Through Knowledge & Practise. Prof. Kereti G. Rautangata
To the ancient Māori, the quintessence of RUA (knowledge and understanding) was: the discovery and acknowledgement of SUPER-NATURE through their profound understanding of Nature
Such spiritual symbology is amongst that knowledge which aided our tūpuna to traverse the high seas in their waka on the long journey, so long ago, to Aotearoa (land of the emblazoned white cloud).
