1 Mid-Atlantic Community Examen Evaluation To those who will be meeting with their life coordinators in larger groups to provide feedback for the Critical Concerns Committee on the Mid-Atlantic Community examen concerning our attitudes and choices regarding consumerism. At our April 2016 assembly we made the decision to make a communal commitment to do an examination of conscience on a regular basis regarding our participation in consumerism and the stuff we have. We did so, keeping in mind the concept of the Great Turning, defined by writer and deep ecologist Joanna Macy as a transition to a life-sustaining society committed to the recovery of our world. We began our practice of this examination of conscience the Mid-Atlantic Community examen in October This examen on consumerism is explored quarterly through themes introduced in Mid-Atlantic Messages, and is to be used with the mantra, May I live gratefully and simply today. Each examen theme is further supported with monthly education resources, also shared through Mid-Atlantic Messages. We on the Critical Concerns Committee are seeking feedback from our sisters about how we are doing in our assembly commitment. We have sent out an electronic survey in Mid-Atlantic Messages, but are conscious that in some cases the sisters living in our retirement centers might prefer to share their feedback through an individual written evaluation form or by participating in a group discussion about the examen. We have asked your life coordinators to give you the opportunity to come together to evaluate the examen process as you have experienced it so far. Our plan is to get some input as to what might be more helpful as we move into year two of using the examen. Please return your completed evaluation by Thursday, August 10, 2017, to Critical Concerns Survey, c/o Clara Lombardi, 515 Montgomery Avenue, Merion, PA Thank you.

5 Mid-Atlantic Community Examen Evaluation page 4 Because of the Mid-Atlantic Community s work together on the examen, the Social Action Circles work group of the Critical Concerns Committee seeks your input. After using the examen process and in light of the 2017 Institute Chapter question, God of Mercy, Wisdom and Mystery, who do you desire us to be now for one another and for our suffering world in order to continue our transformation toward greater integrity of word and deed? would you be desirous of creating a process of forming social action groups for sisters/associates/companions/co-workers/partners in ministry? b. No If you answered Yes to the previous question, choose how you would want to see that happen. a. Groups formed spontaneously and registered at a common site so all would be aware of them b.
