2 Welcome colleagues, faculty and staff! Dear distinguished guests, presenters and participants, October 27, 2017 Thank you for joining us at the 2 nd Annual Peace and Conflict Studies Graduate Student Conference at the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg! This conference is an opportunity for students, academics and practitioners to come together and share their work. This year s theme Peace without Borders demonstrates the crucial need for international cooperation, peaceful collaboration and global efforts for peace beyond physical borders. We believe that peace can be achieved when individuals commit to peacebuilding and peacemaking; individuals working towards a common goal form our strong and dedicated community that continues to expand and flourish. We would like to extend our thanks to our generous sponsors, selfless volunteers, and committed Organizing Committee members. After countless hours and months of planning we are ecstatic that this conference can see the light once again! We are also thankful to last year s Organizing Committee who paved the way and envisioned such an inspiring and thought-provoking conference. We wish you all an excellent two-day conference! Sincerely, Kathleen Wilson & Mathias Ateng Co-Chairs of the Conference Organizing Committee Chair of Academic Events & President of PACSSA 2
