Class 27. Spirit Life The Spirits Book, Chapter VI, Questions 223 to 329
For their condition, the Spirits can be: Incarnated (embodied), Errant (wandering) or Pure. Incarnated: attached/united to a dense physical body; Errant: separated from the dense physical body, but with the perispirit, waiting for a new incarnation for improvement; Pure: perfect and having no further need of incarnation.
1. Errant or Wandering Spirit; 2. Transitional Worlds; 3. Perceptions, Sensations, and Sufferings of Spirits - Theoretic Explanation of the Nature of Sensation in Spirit; 4. Choice of Trials; 5. Relationships beyond the Grave; 6. Sympathies and Antipathies of Spirits/"Eternal Halves;" 7. Remembrance of Corporeal Existence; 8. Commemoration of the Dead Funerals;
1) Errant Spirits, questions 223 to The erraticity is the normal condition of the Spirit, and the incarnation a transient state. 2. The intervals between successive incarnations can be from a few hours to thousands of ages, however, is never perpetual. 3. The duration in the erraticity is a consequence of the spirit's free-will.
4. In wandering state can be greatly improved, but bodily existence is where you practice the new ideas you have acquired. 5. Human Passions: elevated Spirits do not conserve it, but inferior Spirits retain their earthly imperfections.
5. Wandering Spirits are happy or unhappy, more or less so according to their merits. 6. Purified Spirits come into worlds of lower degree very frequently in order to help inferior Spirits, but inferior Spirits do not have the same freedom to move among worlds. 7. Pure Spirits are not wandering, your condition is definitive!
2) Transitional Worlds, questions 234 to There are worlds which are specially adapted for the reception of wandering beings. These worlds constitute intermediary stations between the worlds of other orders, and are graduated according to the nature of the Spirits who are to come into them. 2. The Spirits progress during their layovers on these transitional worlds. 3. The transitional worlds are not destined to be forever the layover of wandering Spirits; their position in the hierarchy of worlds is only temporary.
3) Perceptions, Sensations, and Sufferings of Spirits - Theoretic Explanation of the Nature of Sensation in Spirit questions 237 to The Spirit, when it has returned into the world of Spirits, still have the perceptions it had in the Earthly life and others which it did not possess in that life, because its body acted as a veil which obscured them. 2. Perceptions and knowledge are indefinite, but always according to degree of advancement.
3. Time is different from how we understand ourselves. 4. Knowing the beginning of things, the present and the future depends on the elevation and purity of Spirit.
5. All perceptions (seeing, hearing and feeling) are attributes of the Spirit and are part of his being. 6. Transfer among worlds depends on their purity; it can be radiated and fixed at the same time at many different points. 7. Tiredness is in proportion of their inferiority, the higher they are the less need for rest. 8. Physical pain is the result of ties that still exist between Spirit and matter.
4) Choice of Trials - questions 258 to 273 Participation in the selection of trials, atonement, rescues and missions, always depend on the degree of elevation of the Spirit and of his free will.
5) Relationships Beyond the Grave questions 274 to The different orders of Spirits establish themselves, the hierarchy of power, authority and subordination. 2. The power and consideration enjoyed by the man on Earth not give superiority in the world of Spirits.
3. The Spirits avoid or approach one another according to the similarity or dissimilarity of their sentiments. Those of the same rank are drawn together by a sort of affinity, and they form groups or families of Spirits united by sympathy and purpose: the good ones, by the desire to do good; the evil ones, by the desire to do evil, by shame for their wrongs and by the need to find themselves among others like them. 4. The reunion with relatives and friends depends on the elevation and the path they take to their progress.
6) Sympathies and Antipathies of Spirits/Eternal Halves, questions 291 to The Spirits have among each other special affections, and the perfect sympathy consists in the equality of elevation degrees. 2. The affection which two Spirits have felt for each other upon the Earth, always continue in the spirit-world if that affection were founded on genuine sympathy.
3. There is no such thing as any special and fated union between any two souls. If one Spirit were the half of another Spirit, he would, if separated from that other, be incomplete.
7) Remembrance of Corporeal Existence; questions 304 to The remembrance of corporeal existence presents to the Spirit, after death, in a comprehensive manner in the more advanced Spirits and little by little in the less advanced. 2. The Spirits remember things in proportion to the consequences they produce in his Spirit. 3. Inferior Spirits may miss the joys of Earth, but superior Spirits prefer eternal bliss.
8) Commemoration of the Dead Funerals questions 320 to The desire of some incarnated Spirits to remain aware in certain places, is given by the moral inferiority. 2. It depends on the degree of advancement of the Spirit, attend or not attend, in the funeral of his physical body.
3. Spirits are sensitive to the memory of those they loved on Earth and that memory increase your happiness, if they are happy, and serves them relief if they are unhappy.
4. The instinctive respect which mankind, in all ages and among all people, has always shown to the dead, is attributed to an intuitive belief in a future state of existence. The one is the natural consequence of the other; were it not for that belief, such respect would have neither object nor meaning.
