May we accept all people, no matter who they are, no matter where they ve been, no matter what their story is. May we be Christ for others. May all be welcomed here. Parish Mission Statement The mission of the Catholic communities of St. Blaise and St. Brendan is to be a people united in the Eucharist and dedicated to spreading the Good News of God s saving love to all. We seek to encourage the full and active participation of all God s children and be a place where they can come to know, love, and serve God. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we give witness to the teachings of Jesus Christ by actively living the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, thereby being signs of God s love in the world. Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry The October food pantry request is for small bags of rice and fresh potatoes. Thank you for your continued support. September was HUNGER AWARENESS month. Last weekend some of our JIF families completed sheets (provided by the Greater Boston Food Bank) asking people to fill in the blank: ON AN EMPTY STOMACH, I CAN T. Some of the responses included: think creatively, bring my A game, and play sports. Please visit the back of the church to see what other things it would be difficult to do on an empty stomach. Hunger is not a problem facing just those in poverty- it is also a challenge faced by working-and middle-class neighbors. A recent study shows that 34% of those at risk for hunger in Eastern MA earn too much to qualify for governmentprovided emergency food assistance. Many never dreamed they would need a food pantry or community meal program to feed themselves and their families. (taken from gbfb.org) Currently, we have over 1,500 households registered with our food pantry; including children, adults, seniors, and veterans. We also provide food to those who need it on an emergency basis. Over the past year, we provided over 4,000 bags of food to those in need. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!!!
