Page 2 With Burning Hearts We Proclaim the Good News October 21, 2018 Please pray for the following priests this week: Oct 21 Most Rev. Mikael Mouradian, St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Catholic Church, Glendale Oct 22 Rev. Kevin Nolan, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Los Angeles Whatsoever you do to the least of my people That you do unto me. (by Fr. Willard Jabusch) We have sung this moving hymn for many years at various masses and services at St. John Eudes church. Written in 1965 by Fr. Willard Jabusch, it is still one of the top Catholic songs sung in parishes today. It is inspired by Matthew 25: 36-36,40, and by Jesus teaching that the basis for judgement is whether love has been shown to the least of God s people. Mother Theresa called the hymn Something beautiful for God. There are many ways we SJE parishioners show our love and service to others, and here is a specific way that some of you may not be aware of it is through our Oct 23 Rev. Ricardo Fuerte Acosta, M.S.P., Casa de Formación, Misioneros Servidores de la Palabra, Los Angeles Oct 24 Rev. Juan Ayala, O.M.I. St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, San Fernando Oct 25 Rev. Morcos Kheir Azer, St. Mary Coptic Church, Los Angeles Oct 26 Rev. Hernan Cañete, O.A.R., St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Reseda Oct 27 Rev. Ramiro Sanchez Chan, C.S., St. Charles Residence, Sun Valley On Sunday as we gather after mass in Grill Hall to share food and companionship, we are also contributing to those in need. The contributions we collect from our donations at Hospitality are donated to MEND. MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity) opened its doors in the early 1970 s (in a garage in the San Fernando Valley) to the most vulnerable members of our community. Over the years it has become one of the most comprehensive and empowering poverty relief agencies in Los Angeles County. For Schedule of Baptism Seminars and Baptisms, please contact the Parish Office at:(818) 341-3680 or email: secretary@sjeparish.net For those baptizing at another parish and taking the Baptism Seminar here, the fee is $25 per couple They offer a wide-range of services delivered with dignity and respect by a dedicated army of volunteers committed to serving people who are experiencing poverty and giving them stability and hope. Thanks to your donations at Hospitality, over the last three months St. John Eudes has been able to contribute approximately $1,500 to MEND to help carry on their good work. Additionally, in partnership with local stores we have been able to reduce our spending for the refreshments served which results in cost savings for St. John Eudes. Your generosity and personal contribution to the task God has called us to do is greatly appreciated and validates our love and service to others. When I was hungry, you gave me to eat; When I was thirsty you gave me to drink. Now enter into the home of my Father. Join us for hospitality in Grill Hall hosted by the Filipino Ministry Nellie Newman, Phil McManama & Olivia Kelly S.H. Ministry

Parents are in a unique position to know about not only their own children, but their children s friends. If you are a trusted parent, your child s friend may come to you with secrets. What do you do if a child tells you about abuse? As an adult, it s critical that you remain calm, and don t overreact. Child victims are often frightened and confused, and your confusion and anger does not help their situation. Your concern and support, however, will affirm the child in important ways and can help begin the healing process for a child victim who has suffered at the hands of a predator.
