Especially, we thank the 319 families who pledged enough to meet the goal of $32, to the Archdiocese. This year, Though we are many, we are one - Together in Mission 2016, the Archdiocese has assigned Maria Regina with the goal of $33, We know this is a time of financial struggle for everybody. However, we would ask you to continue to financially support Maria Regina Church to meet this goal. January 23-24, 2016 is the Commitment Sunday. Would you consider, faithfully, a pledge of $70.00 per family? This way, the burden will be light for each family to donate. How do parents handle an admission of abuse? No parent wants their children to suffer from abuse of any kind. However, if a child discloses any instance of abuse, how you handle this information is critical to their well-being. One of the most important things you can do when a child discloses their abuse is not over react, despite the strong and often overwhelming emotions of anger that you are experiencing at that moment. Be certain that you show the child great love and concern through calm, reflective words of understanding and compassion. LENTEN REFLECTION at Maria Regina Church The annual observance of Lent is the special season for the ascent to the holy mountain of Easter. Catechumens are led to the sacraments of initiation by means of the rite of election, the scrutinies, and the catechesis. The faithful, listening more intently to the word of God and devoting themselves to prayer, are prepared through a spirit of repentance to renew their baptismal promises (Ceremony of Bishops, 249). You are welcome to reflect on the Lenten Sunday Readings with Sister Ugocha Chukwuleta every Tuesday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. 5 Third Thirty-third Sunday Sunday in Ordinary Ordinary Time Time November January 15, , 2016 My brothers and sisters, This has been a year of special graces and blessings for the family of God here in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. We were blessed this year with a new saint St. Junipero Serra, a great missionary saint who walked the same ground we walk and founded missions that still stand in our midst. We were blessed also with three fine new Auxiliary Bishops Bishop Joseph Brennan, Bishop David O Connell and Bishop Robert Barron. This year of blessings opens into a new year of grace and blessing. On December 8, 2015, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, we began the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, declared by Pope Francis. Pope Francis tells us: Jesus asks us to be instruments of mercy because it was we who first received mercy from God. To be generous with others, knowing that God showers his goodness upon us with immense generosity. Mercy is our mission as Christians. We need to show compassion and mercy to others as God our Father has shown compassion and mercy to us. And for many years now, Together in Mission has been the face of God s love and mercy in our poorest communities. Through your generous contributions to Together in Mission, you enable our parishes and schools to extend a helping hand of love to our neediest brothers and sisters. Through your generous contributions to Together in Mission, the warmth of God s mercy is shown daily to the weak and vulnerable, the lonely and the abandoned. In this beautiful season of giving and giving thanks, I ask you to please continue to support Together in Mission. Let us continue to work together in this beautiful mission of mercy bringing the healing and merciful love of God to our brothers and sisters most in need. Please be assured of my prayers for you, as I ask you to keep me in yours as well. I entrust you and your family to our Blessed Mother Mary.
