*Welcome and Opening Prayer Opening Hymn Open My Eyes, That I May See see insert Scripture Reading: Mark 10:46-52 The Healing of Blind Bartimaeus 46 They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! 48 Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, Son of David, have mercy on me! 49 Jesus stood still and said, Call him here. And they called the blind man, saying to him, Take heart; get up, he is calling you. 50 So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. 51 Then Jesus said to him, What do you want me to do for you? The blind man said to him, My teacher,[a] let me see again. 52 Jesus said to him, Go; your faith has made you well. Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way. Sermon Rev. Prayer of Confession God of Mercy, we confess that we have not loved you with all our being. We have done things which we ought not to have done, and we have left undone things which we ought to have done. We have built walls between neighbors and between countries, and we have ignored the cries of those in need. Forgive us and set us free, that we may live into the hope of your calling, that your reign may come on earth as it is in heaven. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen. **Communion **Communion is open to everyone in attendance. Take a piece of bread and dip it into the juice provided for you. We offer gluten-free communion, please let us know when you come forward. Here, O My Lord, I See Thee 1. Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face; here would I touch and handle things unseen; here grasp with firmer hand eternal grace, and all my weariness upon thee lean. 2. This is the hour of banquet and of song; this is the heavenly table spread for me; here let me feast, and feasting, still prolong the hallowed hour of fellowship with thee. Open My Eyes, That I May See Open my eyes that I may see Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me; Place in my hands the wonderful key That shall unclasp and set me free. (Refrain) Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see; Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit Divine! 2 Open my ears that I may hear Voices of truth Thou sendest clear; And while the wave notes fall on my ear, Everything false will disappear. 3. Here would I feed upon the bread of God, here drink with thee the royal wine of heaven; here would I lay aside each earthly load, here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven. 4. Too soon we rise; the symbols disappear; the feast, though not the love, is past and gone. The bread and wine remove; but thou art here, nearer than ever, still my shield and sun. 5. Feast after feast thus comes and passes by; yet, passing, points to the glad feast above, giving sweet foretaste of the festal joy, the Lamb's great bridal feast of bliss and love. (Refrain) 3 Open my mouth and let me bear Tidings of mercy everywhere; Open my heart and let me prepare Love with Thy children thus to share.
Ask Y What Great Think I Know 1. Ask ye what great thing I know, that delights and stirs me so? What the high reward I win? Whose the name I glory in? Jesus Christ, the crucified. 2. Who defeats my fiercest foes? Who consoles my saddest woes? Who revives my fainting heart, healing all its hidden smart? Jesus Christ, the crucified. 3. Who is life in life to me? Who the death of death will be? Who will place me on his right, with the countless hosts of light? Jesus Christ, the crucified. 4. This is that great thing I know; this delights and stirs me so: faith in him who died to save, him who triumphed o'er the grave: Jesus Christ, the crucified.

What kind of congregation are we/do we want to be, and how can we be in ministry presence in the community. More details will follow soon, including dates in which to participate. In the meantime, please be in prayer for SUMC and this process, and the ways in which you can faithfully participate. With Pastor Dottie part time appointment at SUMC and full time position at the Calvert Marine Museum, your help is needed during Sunday worship. Sermon Series to continue October 28th Today the children will be learning the importance of knowing that no ruler on earth will be everything we need; only Jesus can fill this role. We will be reading about King Saul. Our bible verse is To obey is better than sacrifice. (1 Samuel 15:22). Israel demanded a king and God gave them one. Samuel searched for Saul, bought him before the people, and anointed him as Israel s first king. Saul, like any human ruler, was a disappointment.
