Service for the Lord s Day The Season of Pentecost ASSURANCE of PARDON Leader: Psalm 24 reminds us who may stand in the holy places of the Lord the one with clean hands and a pure heart. We know that in Christ we are made clean. People: May we live this truth, loving as we have been loved. Eighth Sunday *PASSING the PEACE July 15, 2018 10:30 A.M. *CONGREGATION STANDS AS ABLE LITURGICAL COLOR: GREEN *GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen. The People of God Gather The Word of God Proclaimed Please use the time before worship for quiet reflection and meditation, giving thanks to God for all things. COLLECT O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of Your people who call upon You, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Hymn to Joy (Parents/Guardians are encouraged to bring infants and children to the chancel steps) SPECIAL MUSIC - arr., Don Hustad Michael Spresser, organ *CALL to WORSHIP NEW TESTAMENT LESSON SERMON ANTIPHON: Sing to the mountains, sing to the sea. Raise your voices, lift your hearts. This is the day the Lord has made. Let all the earth rejoice! PRAYER of CONFESSION All Creatures of Our God and King Michael Spresser, piano Psalm 24 (p. 390 or LP 617, OT) Ephesians 1:3-14 (p. 148 or LP 234, NT) ~ What Will We Pass On? ~ - Rev. Abbey King-Kaiser The People of God Respond VERSE: I will give thanks to You, my Lord. You have answered my plea. You have saved my soul from death. You are my strength and my song! *HYMN Improvisation on "We Are Your People" READING of the PSALTER WELCOME and INVITATION PRELUDE CHILDREN S MOMENT *HYMN No. 455 (and silent confession) Leader: Gracious God, as the days shorten little by little, as the heat seems unrelenting, and we fall into our patterns, it is easy to miss You, to not see You, in every day, in the time that passes, in the people around us. God forgive us for when our vision is not ours. Forgive us for when we fail to see Your image in Your beloved children. Through what we do, and what we fail to do, we move away from You. (Unison) Set that spark in our hearts that allows us to know You in the most mundane and familiar corners of our lives, that we might see Your Spirit in new ways. Amen. Called as Partner's In Christ's Service No. 343 *AFFIRMATION of FAITH I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Once again, we are so grateful to you for your donations of not only money, but all the groceries to support our Summer Lunch, Learn and Play Program. Although the main focus of NEST is to change the trajectory of the lives of kids in poverty through academics, our summer program is critical in building relationships, maintaining relationships, and loving these kids so that our After-School Program continues to grow and be successful. One hundred percent of all the kids NEST serves are in the federally subsidized Free and Reduced Lunch Program during the school year. This program is obviously not available during the summer and this leaves a huge nutritional hole that their caregivers cannot easily fill during the summer months. William Lambers wrote in his book, The Roadmap to Ending Global Hunger: Nutrition is the foundation of everything. In the attempt to escape poverty, you need the strength to fight through it. Thank you for helping to supply healthy food to support that fight. ~ Evangeline DeVol, Executive Director It s July, which means it s time to start thinking about back to school! L.I.F.E is now collecting school supplies that they will use to fill backpacks for students in need in the Loveland School District. This year LPC has been asked to collect supplies for HIGH SCHOOL age students. The following items are needed: 3-ring binders notebook dividers ball point pens #2 pencils colored pencils index cards folders (w/pockets & fasteners) college-ruled notebook paper Please return all supplies to the bins in Nisbet Hall by July 29 th.
