August 12, 2018 *CONGREGATION STANDS AS ABLE Service for the Lord s Day The Season of Pentecost Twelfth Sunday The People of God Gather Please use the time before worship for quiet reflection and meditation, giving thanks to God for all things. 10:30 A.M. LITURGICAL COLOR: GREEN COLLECT Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without You, may by You be enabled to live according to Your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. WELCOME and INVITATION PRELUDE Jesus Loves Me - arr., James Koert *CALL to WORSHIP Leader: Let us praise God in every moment, and through every situation. People: Through our words and action, our lives will pay tribute to God. Leader: Whenever the poor and humble hear of God s greatness, they will celebrate, too! People: We lift up God together as we gather in worship! Hallelujah! *HYMN There's a Wideness in God's Mercy No. 298 PRAYER of CONFESSION Leader: Praying in one accord, and humbling ourselves before the Lord, let us confess our need for God and God s unconditional and unending love. (and silent confession) (Unison) First of all, Everlasting God, we must confess how we have not lived as Your people. We serve many masters work, wealth, power, addictions yet find no hope in them. We hear the cries of the poor, and shut the doors of our hearts to them. We ridicule those who expose their hopes and dreams to us. Forgive us, and heal us of our brokenness. Make us well, so that by our healing, we might be the hope and love others need in their lives, even as Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, brought these gifts to us, calling us to be faithful with the grace, peace, and joy entrusted to us. ASSURANCE of PARDON Leader: Now that we have let go of the pain, the bitterness, the anger of our lives, let us be kind, tender-hearted, and gentle towards each other, forgiving as God has forgiven us. People: We are God's beloved children, and will model God's grace and love in our hearts. Thanks be to God! We are forgiven! Amen. *PASSING the PEACE *GLORIA PATRI CHILDREN S MOMENT SPECIAL MUSIC Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

The house on Loveland-Miamiville Road is down and we are visible to all of the cars passing by now. We ve heard lots of positive feedback. If you see Eric Dedden or Tim Thornton, let them know how much you appreciate their time and effort to see this huge undertaking through. Also take a minute to look around for some of the smaller changes too - notice how fresh the landscaping is looking -- tall bushes have been removed or cut back, weeds have been pulled, fresh mulch has been laid. Please thank Terry Price, Jeff Jamison, Hank Westcott, and Jacob Westcott for helping LPC get spruced up! Let the church know if you catch someone in the act of beautifying LPC.
