David grew up in Central Florida and is a graduate of the University of Florida. Discover spiritual disciplines that lead our children to be closer to God. BILL EMEOTT Bill serves as Lead Ministry Specialist for LifeWay Kids. A graduate of Mercer University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Bill has served as a Kid s Minister and considers himself a professional Sunday School teacher. He currently teaches 2nd Grade Bible study at his home church in Nashville. KELLY KING Kelly has served in preschool and children s ministry for twenty years and has written curriculum for both the SBTC and Lifeway. She has also taught children s ministry courses for both Southwestern and Gateway Seminaries. PRESCHOOL/CHILDREN S A T U R D A Y JUNE LEE June has a master s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and is working on her Ph. D in childhood. Her major interest areas are children s spirituality and biblical parenting. She has served as a teacher and director in the areas of childhood ministry, weekday education for preschool and kindergarten children, children s discipleship, afterschool program for elementary children, and biblical parenting education. KAREN TAYNE Karen has served in Preschool and Childrens Ministry for 20 years. She has a heart for ministering to families as they begin the journey of parenting and equipping them to be their child s primary spiritual influencer. MARCIA WOOD An active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano since 1987, Marcia Wood has a passion for Bible Drill and Speakers Tournament. She recently served as the Bible Drill Specialist for the SBTC. PEGGY OSBORNE Peggy spent fourteen years in the elementary classroom teaching pre-k, kindergarten, second and fourth grades. She is now a consultant and co-founder of You Are My Treasure speaking at women s events, retreats and workshops for parents and educators. DANIEL WILLIAMS Daniel currently serves as the Special Needs Family Associate at Houston s First Baptist. After decades in the legal and business professions, God led him into special needs ministry so that the works of God might be displayed. He and his wife, Mary Lynn, have three children Tyna, Mae and David, who has Classic Autism Disorder. 5

CHILDREN S MUSIC ROOM TITLE/DESCRIPTION CHILDREN S MUSIC SPEAKER These sessions will focus on age-appropriate, innovative methods for teaching music education, use of instruments by children and interactive activities which encourage children to offer praise to God, while gaining musical skills and having fun. Each session will be a continuation from the previous session. S A T U R D A Y SESSION 4 (2:00 PM) RM 250-2 Teaching Kids Music Without Music Experience Beth Mitchell Learn the essential tools you need to be successful in a children s music program or kids worship setting. BETH MITCHELL Beth has been a part of Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston, TX for over 27 years and has been on the Worship staff as the Next Gen Associate for the past 8 years. She taught elementary music for 13 years while serving at CFBC but then had the opportunity to serve Him fulltime in ministry. Beth believes kid s choirs are not just about singing for mom and dad but about teaching authentic worship to kids and showing them ways to express our love for a Holy and Worthy God, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. RM 272 The Power of Questions Mike Harvey Jesus used questions as in important way to teach and train. Discover how to use questions as a way for preteens to own their faith instead of just gaining information. PRETEEN SESSION 2 (11:00 AM) RM 270 Greasy, Grimy, and Slimy Bible Stories Preteens Will Love Jeff Land Not everyone in the Bible wore clean white shirts, so why do you tell Bible stories like they did? Come and experience a whole new way to teach an appealing and intriguing Bible Study. RM 268 Preteen: From Influenced to Influencers Bill Emeott Preteens are influenced and shaped by today s culture. In this session participants will consider cultural influencers and ways to encourage preteens to be Acts 1:8 culture shapers. RM 272 Letting Go of the Bike Mike Harvey Empowering preteens to grow and develop, learn and question, and discover who God has made them to be. S A T U R D A Y SESSION 4 (2:00 PM) RM 270 Hornets, Queen Bees, Killer Bees, and Wannabees Jeff Land A child attempting to navigate his or her way through a bullying situation can be one of the most challenging times in his or her life. This conference will explore the topic of ministering to both the bully and the bullied, as well as exposing you to the common ways children are bullied and what you can do to stop it. RM 262 Children are not Called to be Bench Warmers; They are Called to Play in the Game Clint May For every believing child, God has a wonderful plan for them in the body of Christ. Discover the spiritual gifts of children in your church and engage their gifts in ministry to build the body of Christ. RM 272 Preteens and Worship Mike Harvey Preteens will worship, even the boys! It s all about engagement and it doesn t always have to involve music. BILL EMEOTT Bill serves as Lead Ministry Specialist for LifeWay Kids. JEFF LAND Jeff Land is the children s Pastor at Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Houston, TX. He holds a BSW from Mississippi College and a MACE from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jeff and his wife have 4 sons. MIKE HARVEY Mike Harvey is the Minister to Preteens at Houston s First Baptist Church. He has a passion to see preteens own their faith and become fully devoted disciples of Jesus. He has served in children s and student ministry for the past 13 years. CLINT MAY Clint is the founder and president of L.I.T. Ministries and the author of Leaders In Training (L.I.T.) and Nehemiah Kids (N.K.) ministries committed to discipling and equipping children, preteens, youth, and adults for ministry. Clint and his wife Vicki live in Benbrook and are blessed with six children and six grandchildren. 7

ROBERT LOPEZ Dr. Robert López believes that literature and the creative arts are an integral component in evangelization and that higher education in the United has suffered from its abandonment of the Christian principles. He hopes to address these problems from within the world of Christian education. Dr. López was married in 2001 and he and his wife have two children. NATHAN LORICK Dr. Nathan Lorick is the Executive Director of the Colorado Baptist General Convention. His desire is to see a movement of God in this generation through intentional evangelism, missions, discipleship and church planting. He has served the Southern Baptist Convention on the nominating committee as well as a trustee for the International Mission Board. He is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Jenna live in Colorado with their 4 children. S A T U R D A Y JOHN MEADOR John Meador has served as senior pastor of First Euless since 2006. He is passionate about teaching the word of God creatively because he loves to watch it transform lives. Under his leadership, First Euless has become an intergenerational, multi-ethnic and mission-focused church. In 2014, he created Can We Talk? as a conversational gospel-sharing method. He also founded One Conversation to challenge and train pastors to lead and equip people to share the gospel in their everyday lives. BRUNO MOLINA Bruno serves the SBTC as the evangelism associate for language and interfaith evangelism. Bruno holds a B.A. in international relations and Spanish from NYU and a Th.M. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bruno is married to Clara and they have two children. JOE PERRY Joe served in 4 Churches - Putnam City, 1st Bossier, Fielder Rd. and Prestonwood in Exec roles of Education, Evangelism. At Prestonwood he grew the Sports Program to 7000 children and as Min. of Missions and Evangelism. SHANE PRUITT Shane serves as the Director of Evangelism for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. He and his wife, Kasi, reside in Rockwall, TX with their five children Raygen, Harper, Titus, Elliot, & Glory. He has been in ministry for over 15 years as a church planter, lead pastor, associate pastor, and student pastor. He holds a Bachelor s Degree in Biblical Studies, a Master s Degree in History, and a PhD in Clinical Christian Counseling. SCOTTIE STICE Scottie is the Director of SBTC Disaster Relief. He has served with the SBTC for the past eight years. He has worked with the International Mission Board in Central America and has served in churches across Texas. He holds a B.A. from Criswell College, a Master of Arts in Missiology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is a Ph.D. candidate in World Christian Studies at Southwestern. Scottie and his wife Judy have been married for over 35 and have four adult children and two granddaughters. RICHARD TAYLOR Richard serves as an SBTC Church Planting Associate. Before coming to the SBTC, he most recently served as the Director of Evangelism and Ministry for the Baptist Convention of New York. He received educational training from Texas A & I University, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and over 20 years of service in various ministry and denominational positions. MATT TYSON Matt Tyson serves as Executive Director of One Conversation (OCI). He is passionate about helping pastors and believes the future of the world depends on the average believer being able to proclaim the message of the Gospel. DANTE BURRESS In 2014, Danté Burress left his hometown of Chicago to plant a church in Grand Prairie. Identity Church (formally Trinity Worldwide) is a multi-ethnic and economically diverse church where it currently serves and ministers to over eight different ethnicities from more than eight nations. Danté is currently working on his DMin at Northern Seminary in Lombard, Illinois. He shares his love for God and others with his wonderful wife, and four children. 31

LEADERSHIP BUDDY GRIFFIN In 2014, Buddy retired after 50 years in the ministry. The last 12 years he served as pastor of men and prayer at Sagemont Church in Houston. Buddy is also an entertainer and has spread the happy sounds of the banjo and ukulele across the USA and abroad. In 2005 he was inducted into the Banjo Hall of Fame. Buddy is also an avid bass fisherman. Buddy and his wife, Sandy, live in Houston and enjoy two grown children, their spouses, and two super-cool grandkids. MIKE GURLEY After completing a 37-year career in a major metropolitan police department and continuing to participate in a mega church security operation, I have begun a new venture in Critical Incident Management (security) Plan development, training and application for schools, churches and corporations. Through threat assessment and plan development, workable solutions can be developed to address the needs of your organization. OLUS HOLDER Olus is the executive pastor of Fallbrook Church. BART MCDONALD Bart serves as executive director of the Southern Baptists of Texas Foundation. He holds a masters of divinity with biblical languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a BBA in finance from Texas A&M University. Prior to a calling to ministry, he had a successful career in banking, finance and consulting. Bart served as senior pastor at Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington. SCOTTIE STICE Scottie is the Director of SBTC Disaster Relief. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Tamera, and they are raising three active boys. NANCY TURNER Nancy Turner is a seasoned pastor s wife, mother of three adult married children and grandmother of eight. She is a conference speaker, teaches an adult women s Sunday school class and serves as an adviser for several ministries within her church. Nancy s desire is to inspire women to draw nearer to God by speaking and teaching his word with clarity. Nancy graduated with a Family Ministry major and Women s Ministry minor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary on December 2017. TERRY TURNER Pastor Turner is a native of Guthrie, Oklahoma and the past President of the SBTC. In 1991 he organized and planted the Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church with five families and since then, the church has grown to over 2,100 members. Pastor Turner holds a master degree in Biblical Studies and Christian Education and a doctor of ministry in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is married to the love of his life, Nancy. They have three children, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law and eight grandchildren. JAMES WOMACK James R. ED KHO Dr. Ed Kho pastored in Canada for 16 years before moving to Dallas in 2006, to pastor Lighthouse Indonesian Church. In 2011 transitioned to be the International pastor in First Baptist Euless. Ed attended the University of Toronto (BSc.), Canadian Theological Seminary (MDiv.) and Regent University (DMin.).
