From the Pastor s Desk his Sunday we hear the story of the rich man who asked Jesus, Good teacher, what must I do to T inherit eternal life? Jesus knowing his heart, looking at him, loved him and said to him, You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me. The man went away sad because he had many possessions and could not bear to part with them. e may not consider ourselves rich even though we live in a home, condominium or apartment, W have food in our kitchens and pantries, and have an income that makes it possible to live. At the same time, people know they can t rebuy the home they own with the price of real estate today. I trust that each person is grateful for what they do have, what they are able to share with others, supporting the needs of the poor, family members in need and not forget the church in the many priorities and obligations that parishioners have. s I said, last week, we are seeking an increase in our weekly offertory collection so that we can continue the ministries in our parish. I am grateful for the sacrifice of so many, and trust that everyone will contribute, do their part, A share the load and support the parish. Though we have done our level best to contain costs there are still major costs ahead: to replace the vertical blinds that are failing, find a reasonable solution to our failing sound system in the big church and possibly have money to consider another part time staff person. We also want to compensate those who work for the parish based on diocesan salary guidelines. lease prayerfully consider what you can do based on the suggestions on the commitment card, to consider a 3%, P 5% or more percentage increase to support the parish. If for some reason, you haven t contributed before, now is the time to begin a weekly or monthly commitment to support the church. Saint Anthony parish relies on each household s generosity to support the work and ministries of the church. Let us reflect on our grateful living and how we can joyfully give back some measure of what God gives to us. Blessings, Father Larry Hendel, Pastor Sunday Generosity Stewardship 9/30/18 ~ $ 4,491 YTD Stewardship ~ $ 84,470 (includes Online Giving) ADA Goal met ~ $ 74,830 Our Rebate ~ $ 15,473 ADA Outstanding Balance ~ $ 12,075 Please continue to make your monthly payments to the Diocese for your ADA pledge Due to conflicting events and schedules, this year s event Under the Big Top has been postponed. The Events Committee has begun developing a timetable and discussing plans for next year s event so that it can be a success for all involved in our parish. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to your continued support in the future.. Mass of Consolation. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the McKean Church.
