Our Past Grand Knight Vinny Eckersley brought back some programs that we have forgotten about and I will try to keep them going. Thanks Vinny for giving me a good starting point. The council elected a group of officers with a combination of Knights with a lot of experience and some of our newer members who will bring in some new ideas. After talking to them I m excited about working with all of them and I m looking forward to a great year. One idea was to have our annual picnic on August 14 th this year instead of waiting to September when the weather is unpredictable. Also we are combining our picnic with the 4 th Degree so we can introduce everyone to the 4 th Degree and maybe help you decide on becoming a 4 th Degree member. We are now into our yearly Concert Series at Veteran s Park in Bayville where we will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers. The Concert Series Committee is all set to go and doing a fantastic job so stop by and say Hello. Our Annual Golf Classic is scheduled for July 14 th and hopefully we will see a lot of our Brothers at this event. An important date for us is July 17 th when we will have the Installation of Officers. It will start with the 4PM Mass in the church and the installation will follow immediately in the Chapel. My goal for this year is to bring back some forgotten programs and try to make it more interesting. This way we can bring in some new members. And hopefully bring back some of our more experienced members to help. Vivat Jesus, James Mlodgenski Grand Knight

Chaplin s Report Brother Knights, It is a great blessing for me as the new parochial vicar here at St. Barnabas to work closely with you as the chaplain for Council #8603. I have met many of you at Masses and other events over the past weeks. I was first introduced to the Knights by my now deceased Grandfather Michael Martone, who was a fourth degree, past Grand Knight and very committed to his council in Long Island. My personal experience with the Knights was not significant until I entered seminary for the Diocese of Trenton. It was then that I experienced firsthand the tremendous support both spiritually and financially that the Knights provide for those pursuing vocations in the Church. It would not be an exaggeration to say that many seminarians would not make it through the seminary without the help of the Knights. As I have gotten to know this organization better, I recognized that you bring that same level of support to Priests and Religious, but that is only the tip of the iceberg of the good work that the Knights do. It was during my time in the seminary that I realized I should become a part of this organization that was doing so much for me in my own vocational journey (still gotta do the 4 th degree though). The guiding principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism permeate every aspect of the work that is done by this organization in this country and around the world. What is more impressive and perhaps more important is the strong and unflinching witness of good Catholic men who have faith and live their faith in all aspects of their lives. The work you do is essential to the Church both on universal and local levels. I hope that in my time here with you at St. Barnabas that I will be able to pray with you and work alongside of you, continuing the good work, God s work, that you do. God bless you. Vivat Jesus, Brother Knight Rev. Michael Hall Baptism Procedure 1- All babies receive gifts at the first Sunday mass. 2- Members of K of C St. Barnabas Council #8603 and their immediate families who have a baptism at the St. Barnabas Church, Bayville, NJ in a private ceremony will receive gifts at the ceremony provided that the Brother Knight gives the Council two weeks notice. Should the Brother Knight fail to give the Council two weeks notice the gifts will not be presented at the ceremony but can be picked up at the Parish Office when they are ready. 3- Members of K of C St. Barnabas Council #8603 and their immediate families who have a baptism at a church other then the St. Barnabas Church, Bayville, NJ can pick up their gifts at the Parish Office provided that the Brother Knight gives the Council two weeks notice.

Hospitalized Brothers If you know of a Brother Knight from Council # 8603 who has been hospitalized for three days or more, please contact George Vogt at 732-269-2916 so we can present him with our Council 8603 robe. Bumper Sticker of the Month Welcome Frank Kearney This year we will have a new District Deputy for our Council. State Deputy Herbert C. Meyer has appointed Frank Kearney PGK, PFN to service our Council. I m sure that most of our Brothers know Frank from his many years of dedication to the Order. He is a member of St. John the Apostle #12940, Lakehurst where he served as the Grand Knight and Financial Secretary until his appointment. Also Frank is a member of the John D. McMahon Assembly #1926 and was the assembly s Faithful Navigator. I know that with Frank s many years of experience he will be of great help to our Council. I m looking forward to working with him this coming year. Due to the high cost of having the News Letter printed and mailed to our members starting with the July 2010 issue we will be sending out the News Letter quarterly. Sending out the News Letter by email has reduced the cost but less than half of our members receive it by email.
