E UCHARISTIC A DORATION Contemplation is a gaze of faith, fixed on Jesus. I look at Him and He looks at me : this is what a certain peasant of Ars used to say to his holy Curé (St. John Vianney) about his prayer before the tabernacle (Catechism of the Catholic Church No. 2715) There is always a need for faithful committed adorers. To become a regular adorer or to be added to a substitution list, please contact Ricardo and Teresita La O at (636) 391-1997. C C : TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The origins of today s solemnity lie in thirteenth-century Belgium. In those days, people seldom received Holy Communion, and never from the chalice. A nun in a troubled convent, Juliana of Liège, devoted her life to s rring up love for the Eucharist, lobbying for a feast day to honor the Blessed Sacrament with Masses and processions. Juliana may have been inspired by the Ascension Day processions in nearby Bruges. Crusaders brought a treasure home to Bruges from Constan nople in 1204: a reliquary said to contain a cloth from Joseph of Arimathea with which he had helped prepare the body of Jesus for burial. The stain on the cloth was said to be the holy blood itself, and so the people of Bruges built a great basilica to house the relic. Bruges became a great center of pilgrimage because of this treasure, and the procession of the Holy Blood is s ll one of the greatest fes vals in Belgium today. The bishop carries the relic through the narrow streets, and the people wear medieval costumes and act out scenes from the Bible. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

Men of Holy Infant Parish: Are You Ready to Accept the Challenge? Our communities need strong Catholic men to answer the call to lead with faith, protect our families, serve others and defend our values. For over one hundred years, Knights of Columbus have done exactly that, standing up for the Church, serving the least among us, and strengthening our parishes and families. Eligible Catholic men can now join the Knights of Columbus online in a simple, streamlined process. As a member, you join a worldwide community of nearly two million men, including over 40,000 members here in Missouri, who stand together. Men have a duty to lead, protect, serve and defend. The world needs more committed, unified Catholic men to answer the call. Will you answer? Visit kofc.org/joinus to learn more about the many benefits of membership in the Knights of Columbus.
