January 2018 Fairview United Methodist Church Maryville, Tennessee January 28 2018-February 3, 2018 From the Pastor s Desk Well, we are now off and running. Our Church Council had its first meeting of the year on Sunday afternoon; and what a meeting it was! We recognized all of our new council members, and spent time in orientation including our standing committee chairs describing the challenges and opportunities ahead of their groups this year. Our church staff ministry leaders shared: where they see God at work in Fairview, the areas of growth in their particular ministry areas, as well as the needs of their respective ministries, and the bold long term visions they have for their ministry areas. It was energizing! It was a clear demonstration of how our Fairview staff are All In. I hope you plan to be present this Sunday as we worship God together, as we grow together in community, and continue our New Year s sermon series: All In. We ve looked at: Joshua leading Israel across the Jordan River and into the Promised Land, Noah, and Abraham. This Sunday we re going to look at Caleb in Joshua 14.6-14. Each of them were All In God s plan for their life and the lives of God s people. It s important for us to recognize because they were All In God used them to make a difference in the lives of those who would come after them. This Sunday, January 28th at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary I want to invite you to join us for our Third Annual Church Family Meeting. We will recognize our church leaders, and share with you a publication that we generate "in-house;" a sort of Annual Report, with information about how we did in 2017, and some of our hopes for 2018. This is an opportunity for church leadership to share information in a spirit of openness. You will have the opportunity to ask questions of myself, other staff and leaders. God has already blessed us "richly" in 2018. I believe there are many blessings in store for us this year as we go All In, and All Out as individuals and as a church. With my love and prayers, Pastor Mickey
