American Legion Post 80 October 1, 2016 Issue 10 of 12 1019 Pennsylvania Ave., St. Cloud, FL 34769 407-892-8808 Website: AmericanLegionPost80fl.org Commander s Newsletter Hi Everyone! I want to thank everyone who participated in the POW-MIA ceremony. It was an honor to have First Responders from the Fire department and representatives from the Police Department there with use. Wreaths across America is coming in December. Would like to start the ordering earlier this year so we can reach our goal. BINGO on 10/31/16 is cancelled due to Halloween. We are in need of Halloween candy donations and volunteers to distribute the candy between 5:00pm to 8:00 pm. Come down to help put smiles on the kids faces and don t forget to For God and Country, Gary Nelson Commander, Post 80 Chaplain s Corner Greetings Fellow Veterans, As we pass through life, there are numerous times when we are called upon to give an account of our actions and activities. We are accountable to our employer; we are accountable for financial obligations that we have agreed to. Decisions that we make have consequences either short term or later on in life, bottom line is that each one of us is accountable for our actions. The same is true at the end of our life. The Scripture is very clear that each of us must give an account of how we lived our lives. II Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man s all, For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil (Eccl 12:13-14) so my dear friends, you and I will one day be called upon to give an account of how we used the abilities and talents that our Creator gave us. A word of advice if you choose to accept it. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him (Col. 3:17) SDG For God and Country. Dave Nigh Chaplain Post 80 407-922-2409 God Bless you. In 2007, the Worcester family, along with veterans, and others who had helped with their annual Christmas wreath ceremony in Arlington, formed Wreaths Across America, to continue and expand this effort, and support other groups around the country who wanted to do the same. This nonprofit organization continues the Arlington tradition as part of its mission to Remember, Honor and teach. In 2015, Wreaths Across America and our national network of volunteers laid over 900,000 memorial wreaths at nearly 1100 locations in the United States and beyond. We accomplished this with help from over 2500 fundraising groups, many corporate contributions, and donations of trucking, shipping, and thousands of helping hands. Our annual pilgrimage from Harrington, Maine to Arlington National Cemetery is known as the world s largest veteran s parade, stopping at schools, monuments, veteran s homes and communities all along the way to remind people how important it is to remember, honor and teach. Proceeds place a wreath at one of the participating cemeteries; help support our fundraising partners, educational and veteran s services outreach. Please note that all sponsorships are sent directly to the location and no wreaths are sent to the individuals purchasing sponsorships. We welcome all to join us at any Wreaths Across America ceremony. If you would like to participate or help bring sponsored wreaths to your local community, please contact us and we will help connect you with other groups already working in your area. Schedule of Events Sunday, December 11, 2016 Start of World s Longest Veterans Parade from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery and participating locations Monday, December 12, 2016 State House wreath-laying ceremonies in all 50 States and Puerto Rico Saturday December 17, 2016 Mt.
