Grand Knight Report Paul Maher So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Dear Brother Knights, Families, and Friends, I had cancelled our November Business meeting since I could not leave my wife Shirley s side. She had a knee replacement surgery and is recovering well. Mark Reljac, John LaFleur and Tony Garcia had called me that they would not be able to attend. Finally, the rain was continuing and news report was talking about Flood Conditions. I hope to see you all at our next Business meeting in December. Social at PAX Center: We need to remember that the Council 2813 Social is scheduled for Saturday, 26 November 2016 from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM. Serving at 1:00 PM. Council 2813 will furnish the BBQ meat from Cousins BBQ and we ask that the Knights supply a vegetable or dessert. We have scheduled this Social at the PAX Cafeteria at Saint Francis Village. This will be a great time to meet the new members and catch up on socializing. Christmas Baskets: PGK Charlie Valdez will prepare Christmas Baskets this year for 20 families for two Spanish Parishes. Any donations will be appreciated. Mail your checks to KofC Council 2813, PO Box 331886, Fort Worth, TX 76133. Tootsie Roll Drive Success: Tootsie Roll Drive was a big success. In two hours, eight Knights were able to collect $1219.98 on Saturday, 29 October, at the corner of Sycamore School Road and McCart Avenue. All that we collect for the Texas Deaf Children goes directly to Supreme and reduces our State Charities. Thanks to PGK Tom Kemp, Johnny Kennard, Brad Pierce, PGK Drew Armentrout, Guy Bair, PGK Charlie Valdez and his daughter, Paul Maher and Ed Queza for their support of this program. New Members: We have a new transfer Knight from another Council. His name is SK Uche Onyebadi. He is a Ph. D and Chair for TCU Journalism. He and his wife attend St. Bartholomew Church. We have a new member that I was supposed to read in, John LeGault. He is the Father-in-Law of SK Mike Kennedy from St. Andrew s Council. Mike stated that he wanted John to join his council, but John is a member of St. Bartholomew and he knows Knights in our Council. Corporate Communion Mass was successfully attended but we could not have a Brunch since a City Contractor ran a pressure test on the sewer line and it backed up in both the restrooms and the kitchen for PAX hall. Joe Pistey was able to refreeze the Sausage and the 4 gallons of Orange Juice. I took the approximate 14 cases of eggs to Presbyterian Night Shelter since it was contained in one box and not separate dozen or ½ dozen boxes. I talked with Audrey Feder and she stated that Vic was not able to sit up or stand and was just taking one day at a time. My wife, Shirley Maher, had a right knee replacement on Friday, 4 November, at Harris Clearfork Hospital. Tony Garcia was involved in an auto accident and broke his leg. He was hospitalized at Harris SW for a couple of days since they had to operate and place pins in his leg. Tony says that he will be down for about 30 days. Church Jack Kearney, PGK The Knights of Columbus Parish Masses will be, as always, on the fourth Sunday (December 25th this month) at 10:00 AM at Saint Francis Village and 11:00 AM at Saint Bartholomew. We ask all Knights to sit with their families for the Mass. Wear your KC badge if you have one.
We would like to get more parishes involved in the KC Masses. Please let me know if your Parish is going to start a KC Mass so we can include that information in the bulletin. Our December Pro-Life Mass will be on Monday, December 26th at Saint Francis Village Chapel. The Rosary will begin at 7:05 PM followed with the Mass at 7:30 PM. Refreshments will follow in the exercise room. Please come join us in praying for Pro-Life. Saint Francis Village Chapel will have a Communal Sacrament of the Sick during the 9:00 AM Mass on the first Thursday of the each month, next will be December 1st. Pro-Life Jack Kearney, PGK Now that we have a new president elect; let s all pray that he is as Pro-Life as we were led to believe. Maybe even give us some Pro-Life Supreme Court Justices. After all, we lost a real Pro-Life Justice when Justice Antonin Scalia died. But, we knew what to expect with Hillary Pro-abortion. As I understand it, the majority of people leaving the polls who quoted for Trump, said they did so because they wanted him to nominate the next Supreme Court Justice. Makes you think Pro-life may have decided the election, doesn t it? I hope so. Sunshine Paul Maher Many of our Brothers and family members are in need of our daily prayers. Please notify me if you want me to remove or add someone s name to the bulletin's prayer list. Our Council has decided, if we don't hear from you after four months, I will start removing names and place them on our long term prayer list on the Council bulletin board at the hall. Call me at 817-319-3971 or e-mail me at pmaher1901@yahoo.com or paul.maher@lmco.com. Also, notify me if you want me to send a Get Well or Sympathy Card to someone. Also, for our Brother Knights, their wives or their family members that have passed away, please notify me so a Gate Fold of Spiritual Union of Perpetual Adoration can be given to surviving family members.
Individuals on our current prayer are: PGK Drew Armentrout and his mother Bother Richard Beckrich and his wife Louise Louise Crichton (Sister of PGK Jim Justice) Emma Delila (Great Granddaughter of Brother Woodie Hill) PGK Vic Fedor and his wife Audrey Liz Freeman (Wife of Deceased PGK John Freeman) Tony Garcia Ruth Kemp (Wife of PGK Tom Kemp) Brother John LaFleur and his wife Linda Father Bob Leonhardt Brother Paul Maher and his wife Shirley Charlie Naughton Cindy Lopez (Daughter of PGK Bill Miller and wife Georgia) PGK Raymond and his wife Dianna Ramos Brother Ernest Reid Brother Joe Seilbe - Broken Hip PGK Charlie Valdez Pray for our country and its leaders, especially our President and all our military and their families. The power of prayer is strong indeed and we should wield that power often. Community Brad Pierce The Presbyterian Night Shelter (PNS) Sandwich Making Night is still on the fourth Tuesday of the month at St. Francis Village, at 7:00 PM sharp - Arrive Early! We are also making some Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches now. The next PNS evening will be Tuesday, December 27th. We also continue to collect toiletry, clothing, medicine and medical items for adults and children in the care of PNS; bring them with you when you come. Chicken-on-a-Stick Joe Govea, District Deputy #20 817-703-8408 Paul Maher - Director for Council 2813 I received a detailed report of the money earned by all three Councils in District 25 Chickenon-a-Stick Committee. We made $ 2983.30 after all expenses were deducted. We will leave all of this money with the Committee. We used the two propane cookers that belong to Saint Patrick s for their Fish Fries and we need to replace two of them for about $600.00 each. I will print out several detailed accounts and have them for the December Meetings.
Ladies Auxiliary Georgia Miller Our December lunch date is coming up on Tuesday, December 13th. Reservations have been made at the Rose Garden, 7200 Camp Bowie Blvd (located in The Mercantile). We need to confirm the number of reservations prior to our date - a phone call or e-mail will be sent the week prior and we ask that you confirm your attendance at that time. We hope that you will be able to join us for lunch. October 2016 Top Knights Knights of the Month Brad Pierce Family of the Month Charlie & Consuela Valdez KOC Insurance Corner Brian DesCamps - Field Agent Think You Are Too Old for Coverage? Maybe Not You are never too young or too old to consider purchasing Life Insurance. If you have a financial need for coverage, or will in the future, a permanent life insurance policy can be just the thing you need. When you are young and presumably healthy, coverage will be very inexpensive when compared to purchasing the same policies when you are older. If you ve put off purchasing coverage, or you realize that you may need additional insurance, the Order may still be able to help you, even if other companies cannot. In fact, in 2012, the issue age of our permanent Life Insurance products was extended to age 80, and in 2014, the issue age of our Term Insurance was extended to age 70. Naturally, your health, and whether or not you smoke, will be taken into consideration, so underwriting standards for risk and age apply. But, the extensions are a great blessing for me - and it
could be for you too. Now I can help members that I couldn t help before. Are you or one of your brother knights one of those members? Whether you re 18 or 80, the Knights of Columbus has products that will work for you and your family. I look forward to discussing coverage with you.
