Lent has begun and thus so has the period of Purification and Enlightenment for those in RCIA seeking to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church this coming Easter. During this phase which falls during Lent the Candidates and Catechumens will participate in several Rites as a way of final preparation for their Sacraments of Initiation. This Sunday, March 5th at the 10:30am Mass the Catechumens, those seeking Baptism, will go through the Rite of Sending of Catechumens. This Rite is where we as a community send our Catechumens to our Bishop. Saturday Afternoon, March 11th these Catechumens will be accepted by the Bishop through the Rite of Election at the Cathedral. Please pray for these Catechumens. Sunday, March 12 th, at the 10:30am mass the Candidates, those who have been baptized in a Christian Tradition, will go through the Rite of Call to Continuing Conversion. This is when we as a community recognize that these baptized Christians are being called by God to a deeper relationship with him through the Catholic Church. The Candidates and Catechumens will go through three Scrutinies. A Scrutiny is a Rite that occurs during a mass, where the candidates and catechumens share something with our priest for which they would like additional prayers. These Scrutinies occur as follows: Saturday, March 18th at the 5pm Mass. Sunday, March 26th at the 7:30am Mass. And Sunday April 2nd at the 10:30am Mass. Saturday April 15th at the Easter Vigil Mass these Candidates and Catechumens will be received into the Catholic Church. Immediately following the Easter Vigil we will have a Welcoming Reception for those who received their Sac-raments at that Vigil Mass. Pondant Hall. The theme of the retreat is One Church. It is open to all current 7 th -12 th graders. Youth from outside the parish are welcome, invite a friend! The National Evangelization Team is an amazing group of young adults devote a year of their life to training and then evangelizing youth in Catholic churches all over the country. They have a team coming to the Dallas Diocese and we have the privilege of hosting them as they offer their talents and testimony to our youth. The cost is only $15 which includes a snack and lunch.
