Read through preschool leader guide several times throughout the week to familiarize yourself with what to say, how long it should take, and the order of activities. 2. Preview the worship songs and get familiar with the motions to help lead your preschoolers in worship. 2. 3 SOCIAL Check In + Play Welcome kids as they enter your room with energy. Use the following activity during the social time as an option for kids to do as they check in. CUE: Play high energy music as kids enter. 1. Changing Colors -Lay the bag flat and place the red paint on one side of the bag and the yellow paint on the other side of the bag. -Be careful not to mix the paint. Tape the bag onto a table to secure it. You will need one bag per two children. -Invite the children to use their hands to change the colors of the paint by mixing them through the bag. -Ask the children what color the two colors changed into. WHAT YOU SAY: (during play) Today we are going to talk about changing. I have two colors in the bags. (Point.) Let s see if we can change them. Use your hands to see if you can change the colors. (Do activity.) Great job! You changed the colors! They were red and yellow. What color do you see now? (Pause.) YES! Orange! In our Bible story, we are going to talk about how knowing Jesus can change people! I can t wait to go to story later to find out! 4 SOCIAL Check In + Play Use the following activity during the social time as an option for kids to do as they check in. 2. The Great Pretender -Gather the children in an open area of the room. Call out the different examples listed below of something changing from one thing to another and encourage the children to act out the process with their bodies. Water to ice (flow to freeze) Seed to flower (grow up) Cocoon to butter y (pretend to fly) Tadpole to frog (wiggle then hop) WHAT YOU SAY: Did you know that you can see certain changes in nature? Have you ever noticed the leaves changing color in the fall? And then they fall from the trees in the winter so that new leaves can sprout in the spring. Pretty cool! I will call out some other examples of changes in nature and I want all of us to act out those changes with our bodies. Are you ready? (Pause.) Here we go! That was SUPER fun! Did you know that people can change too? And not just on the outside, but on the inside too when they know Jesus!
5 STORY Circle One - Tell WHAT YOU SAY: Friends! It s time to clean up and see what we have in store for today! Let s work together to clean up and when you are finished, find a seat near me! CUE: Clean Up Song (on DVD) at 9:45a/11:15a. Give kids about five minutes to clean up and take a seat near you. Do the following activity for circle time. WHAT YOU SAY: Hello, friends! It is such an exciting day because we are here together! We are celebrating that Jesus is alive. That s BIG NEWS! In fact, that s the biggest news ever, and we need to tell everyone about it. Who can tell others about Jesus? I can tell others about Jesus! Come sit with me in a circle! Does anyone know what this is? (Hold up flashlight.) It s a flashlight! When I shine the light on you, I want you to tell me your name and favorite snack! Shine the light on each child (torso or legs) and allow them to share their name and favorite snack. Great job, friends! Today we ll learn about a man named Saul. When Saul saw the light, his life was changed! He believed that Jesus is alive, and his name was changed to Paul. 6 WORSHIP LEADER: But first let s get ready to dance for God! Let s thank Him for loving us and sending Jesus! Everyone stand up and dance with me. Jesus is alive! Lead the kids in the motions for the following songs. Stand near the front so the kids can watch you and lead them in the motions. CUE: Jesus Is Alive Music Video STORY Bible Story WHAT YOU SAY: Great job singing! Who can tell others about Jesus? I can tell others about Jesus! All month long, we ve been talking about some (cup hands to mouth) BIG NEWS! Jesus is alive! We can tell lots and lots of people this (cup hands to mouth) BIG NEWS! And telling some people this (cup hands to mouth) BIG NEWS is easy people like your grandma, or your best friend, or the nice mail carrier who brings you the mail. They d probably love to hear this (cup hands to mouth) BIG NEWS that Jesus is alive. Now remember that friend Saul I was telling you about earlier? Well he did NOT believe this big news. Let s find out how the light changed Saul to Paul! CUE: Bible Story Video.
7 STORY Pray LEADER: Wow! When Saul believe the BIG NEWS about Jesus, his name was changed to Paul and he spent the rest of his life traveling all over to tell people that Jesus is alive! And you can tell people that, too. Who can tell others about Jesus? I can tell others about Jesus! Let s stretch out our prayer hands and put them together to talk to God in 1, 2, 3! Pray: Heavenly Father, thank You for the TRUE story of Saul and how he changed when he learned the BIG NEWS about Jesus. Help us to tell others about Jesus too. We want everyone to know that Jesus is alive! We love You. In Jesus name, amen. Let s CHANGE spots and get ready for snack time! Transition to tables (or rug) for snack. 8 Snack + Memory Verse -Transition kids to tables for snack. -Pass out hand sanitizer and ask a kid to pray for the snack. -Give each kid a pack of Mott s fruit gummy s. -Allow kids a minute for a break; use this time for bathroom breaks. -Introduce memory verse using the instructions below. WHAT YOU SAY: Friends! Let s say our memory verse found in Matthew 28:19. Say the verse together once out loud. Then use the flashlight again to shine on kids to say the verse as loud as they can. Go, (run in place) and make, (pound fist into palm) disciples (hold the hand of a friend next to you) of all nations. (extend arms over head in a circle) Matthew 28:19 (open hands like a book)
9 Silly Putty After snack, gather kids back up to create a craft that will be use in today s game. -Lay the newspaper out flat on a table in the activity area. -Give the putty to the children and encourage them to press it onto the paper to transfer the image onto the putty. -Challenge the children to stretch and pull the putty to change the image. Repeat several times. WHAT YOU SAY: Today we talked about how Saul changed when he became Jesus friend forever. We are going to do a super-duper cool experiment! If we push this silly putty (hold up) onto the newspaper, it puts the words and pictures from the paper onto the putty. (Demonstrate.) Now it is your turn to try. (Do activity.) Perfect! Now you can change the image on the putty by stretching and pulling it. (Finish activity.) Great job! You changed the pictures on the putty like Saul changed to Paul. Jesus wants us to tell everyone that He wants to be their friend forever. Who can tell others about Jesus? I can tell others about Jesus! 10 Walk The Line Transition kids from tables to activity area to play the following game. -Use the floor tape to mark two parallel lines on the floor at least one foot apart. -The lines should be five feet long. Pair up the children and line them up behind the taped lines. -Point out the lines of the floor. Encourage each pair to hold hands and walk along the taped path, BUT they must do so with their eyes closed. -When you say, STOP! the pair must stop, open their eyes, and see where they are on the path. -Repeat with each pair. Then let them walk the line again with their eyes open. WHAT YOU SAY: Let s line up behind the tape lines with our partners. I want you to hold hands with your partner and walk along the line together, BUT you must close your eyes as you walk. When I say, STOP! I want you to freeze where you are and then open your eyes to see if you re still on the line. Are you ready? (Pause.) Okay, first pair, let s walk. (Do activity.) Which was better: walking the path with your eyes closed or with them open? (Pause for responses.) YES! It was much better to walk the line with your eyes open. Saul s life was so much better after that day on the road. He finally understood the BIG NEWS about Jesus and then he told so many others the same BIG NEWS about Jesus. And we can too! Who can tell others about Jesus? I can tell others about Jesus.
11 Pray Transition kids back to large group area and have them sit in a circle. WHAT YOU SAY: Knowing Jesus changes us, because we start loving people like Jesus loves people. Let s make a list of things we do when we love people. It can be giving a hug, sharing our food, helping a sick person, or telling people the BIG NEWS about Jesus. When I say your name, tell me one way we can show people we love them like Jesus loves them. (Do activity.) This is such a special list. Let s pray and ask God to help us do these things. Would anyone like to pray before I pray? HOME -Give each kid a blank piece of paper and encourage them to write their name at the top; if they are not able to yet, help them write their name. -Pass out crayons and ask kids to draw a picture of them loving someone like Jesus. Reference the list made during prayer time. -Greet parents at the door and check that their parent receipt matches the kids tag code. -Give each parent a Drive Time card to take home; give each kid a pack of smarties. 12
