Centered in the Eucharist, and strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live the Gospel and further the reign of God. From Our Pastor... Come Celebrate the Holy Spirit in our Parish! I want to encourage each of you to set aside Sunday, June 4, for our annual Parish Pentecost Festival. For those who are new to the parish or have never been before to our picnic, this is a superb, fun, great food and music event to celebrate the Spirit of Pentecost and the diverse ethnic backgrounds of people within our own parish. There will be a wide variety of food booths representing the different nationalities of our own parishioners. Tasty samplings from Mexico, India, Philippines, Italy, Greece, Germany, and others, as well as basic American hot dogs for the kids, are enjoyed by all. Along with live music and games for the children, this is a great picnic on the east lawn of the church grounds immediately following the 10:30 Mass. Note well that there is only one Mass on that Sunday at 10:30, in order to try and get most of our parishioners to be united in one Eucharist for this special feast day. We will still have the 5:00 PM Mass on the Saturday evening for those who cannot make the Sunday Mass and Festival. Plan now for our Pentecost weekend and join us for the Sunday Mass and the picnic following. Be sure and stop by the table after Mass today and get your tickets ASAP so we can plan well for the number attending. Come Holy Spirit and Enkindle within Us the Fire of Your Love! Fr. Jim Deiters Prayer of Blessing for Graduates Here is a prayer of blessing to share with the Graduates in your family! Almighty God, Thank You for Your love and for all the graduating students in our families. May they feel a sense of achievement in this milestone, and excitement for what lies ahead. May each one know Your love and presence in their lives and find ways to use their abilities for Your glory. May they continue to live lives of curiosity and discovery, of dedication and discipline, of compassion and generosity, and in doing so bring great blessings to the world. Amen. We extend our loving and prayerful sympathy to the family of Ron Pendegrass, who died last week. May he rest in the peace of Christ. Please pray for all who have died and all who are mourning the death of a loved one. The Catholic Service and Ministry Appeal Join us as Partners in Hope Did you know your gift to the 2017 Catholic Service and Ministry Appeal can be made online? Visit our diocese s new website at www.diobelle.org and click on Giving to the Diocese. It s that simple! Through your prayers and generous help we can fulfill the vision of our Holy Father Pope Francis to serve our brothers and sisters in need throughout southern Illinois. Thank you so very much for your consideration. Voca on Corner This weekend we gratefully and prayerfully remember all those who sacrificed their lives serving our country. This ultimate giving of oneself is the most selfless act of love we humans perform. That raises the question - are we that giving of our spiritual selves? Today provides an opportunity for us to take a moment to reflect on how well we are fulfilling our vocation in life ordained, married, consecrated, or single. Perhaps a prayer of recommitment is appropriate as we give thanks for those who have sacrificed so much for us. HOPE FOR THE JOURNEY Wednesday, May 31 at 2 p.m. Church Library Hope For The Journey is a new ministry at St. Clare Church reaching out to anyone that has experienced the loss of a loved one, recent or not. We meet for conversation, suggested reading, encouragement, prayer and to walk this journey with you. Please join us. For more information, please contact: Ken & Barb Kenney 416-1410 or kj_kenney@sbcglobal.net Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible!
