Amen. First Lesson Jeremiah 31:7-9 ALL Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. Reader A reading from the Book of Jeremiah. Thus says the Lord: Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, Save, O Lord, your people, the remnant of Israel. See, I am going to bring them from the land of the north, and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the 1 2

Reader People lame, those with child and those in labor, together; a great company, they shall return here. With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back, I will let them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble; for I have become a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. Silence is kept for a space Hear what the Spirit is saying to God s people. Thanks be to God. Please remain seated and sing this metrical version of Psalm 126 Hymn sheaves Text: Michael A. Saward, 1973, alt.; Tune: Norman L. Warren, 1973 Reader Second Lesson Hebrews 7:23-28 A reading from the Letter to the Hebrews: The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office; but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently he is able for all time to save those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he has no need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people; this he did once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priests those who are subject to weakness, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever. Silence is kept for a space Hear what the Spirit is saying to God s people. Thanks be to God. Please stand for the Gospel procession and sing Gospel Acclamation Tone I Reader People Cantor Lord, to whom shall we go? * You have the words of eternal life repeat Alleluia Gospel Lesson Mark 10:46-52 Deacon The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark. People Glory to you, Lord Christ. Deacon [Jesus and his disciples] came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, Son of David, have mercy on me! Jesus stood still and said, Call him here. And they called the blind man, saying to him, 3 4

Take heart; get up, he is calling you. So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. Then Jesus said to him, What do you want me to do for you? The blind man said to him, My teacher, let me see again. Jesus said to him, Go; your faith has made you well. Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way. Silence is kept for a space Deacon The Gospel of the Lord. People Praise to you, Lord Christ. Sermon Please stand Nicene Creed ALL We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayers of the People Book of Common Prayer, Form IV After each petition, the Leader says Leader Lord, in your mercy People Hear our prayer. After the final petition, the Presider says Presider Hasten, O Father, the coming of your kingdom; and grant that we your servants, who now live by faith, may with joy behold your Son at his coming in glorious majesty; even Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate. People Amen. Confession of Sin Deacon Since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. After a period of silence and reflection, all say together ALL Almighty God, long-suffering and of great goodness: I confess to you, I confess with my whole heart my neglect and forgetfulness of your commandments, my wrong doing, thinking, and speaking; the hurts I have done to others, and the good I have left undone. O God, forgive me, for I have sinned against you; and raise me to newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Presider Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. People Amen. The Peace Presider The peace of the Lord be always with you. People And also with you. Please greet one another in the name of the Lord Announcements The Holy Communion The Presider begins the Offertory with a sentence from scripture. 5 6

Offertory Anthem Henry Loosemore O Lord, increase our faith, strengthen us and confirm us in thy true faith; Endue us with wisdom, charity, chastity and patience, in all our adversity. Sweet Jesu, say Amen. 17th Century As the gifts are presented, please say together ALL Blessed are you, God of all creation; Through your goodness we have these gifts to share. Accept and use our offerings for your glory And for the service of your kingdom. Blessed be God for ever. Amen. The Great Thanksgiving Common Worship Presider The Lord be with you. People And also with you. Presider Lift up your hearts. People We lift them to the Lord. Presider Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People It is right to give God thanks and praise. Presider Father, you made the world and love your creation. You gave your Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior. His dying and rising have set us free from sin and death. And so we gladly thank you, with saints and angels praising you, and saying: Sanctus land of rest ALL Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Presider We praise and bless you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord; and as we obey his command, send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured may be for us the body and blood of your dear Son. On the night before he died he had supper with his friends and, taking bread, he praised you. He broke the bread, gave it to them and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. When supper was ended he took the cup of wine. Again he praised you, gave it to them and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did, in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross. Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation, we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory. ALL Presider Lord of all life, help us to work together for that day when your kingdom comes and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth. Look with favor on your people, gather us in your loving arms and bring us with the Blessed Virgin Mary, blessed Paul our patron, and all the saints to feast at your table in heaven. Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory are yours, O loving Father, for ever and ever. ALL Deacon And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say, ALL Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. 7 8

Breaking the Bread Invitation Presider This is the table of the Lord. It is made ready for those who love and those who want to love more. So, come, you who have much faith and you who have little, you who have been here often and you have not been here long, you who have tried to follow and you who have fallen short. Come, because it is the Risen Christ who invites you. It is the Risen Christ who meets you here. The Table of our celebration is our Lord s, therefore all people are welcome to come forward to receive God s blessing at the administration of Communion, regardless of age, denomination, or conscience. Please receive God s blessing in the manner of your tradition and comfort, either extending both hands to receive the bread and wine or crossing both arms upon your chest to receive a prayer of blessing. Should you desire a gluten-free wafer, please extend one hand, crossing the other upon your chest. Minister The Body of Christ, the bread of heaven. Recipient Amen. Minister The Blood of Christ, the cup of salvation. Recipient Amen. Anthem Healey Willan O sacred feast, wherein Christ is received: the memory of his passion is renewed in us, our souls are filled with grace, and the pledge of everlasting glory is given unto us. Alleluia. Antiphon for Corpus Christi After Communion Please stand as the Presider says Presider Let us pray. ALL Gracious Father, we give you praise and thanks for this Holy Communion of the Body and Blood of your beloved Son Jesus Christ, the pledge of our redemption; and we pray that it may bring us forgiveness of our sins, strength in our weakness, and everlasting salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
