GRAND KNIGHT S MESSAGE G reetings, brothers. The month of August is dedicated to The Immaculate Heart of Mary. All of August falls within the liturgical season of Ordinary Time, which is represented by the liturgical color green. This symbol of hope is the color of the sprouting seed and arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection. It is used in the offices and Masses of Ordinary Time. The last portion of the liturgical year represents the time of our pilgrimage to heaven during which we hope for reward. We are at the height of Summer. As I write this, we have three First Degree Brothers about to take their Second and Third Degrees, on Saturday July 25th. Usually summer is a time when our new membership takes a pause as we vacation or do family activities. This year we have several new Brothers join us and we welcome them. Since January we have welcomed at least seven, and we must take the time to get to know each one. God has given each of them (and us) unique talents and we must find out how they would like to get involved in the activities we do. On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception August 15 th we will gather in Manchester for our annual Fisher Cats Baseball game. I bought two tickets and plan on being there. Each month we recognize a Knight s family for their faith in action. Our Grand Knight will present a certificate of recognition during the regular meeting. You can nominate a Knight/ Family just send Mike Mosher your recommendation by the last day of the month. (mmosher1950@yahoo.com). It s a nice way to show our admiration for knights and families living their faith. Our GK has asked that we provide as many brothers as possible the opportunity to lead the rosary. If you d like to lead the rosary before the Wednesday meeting, please contact Mike Mosher at 603-318-6182. Mike will show you where Fr. Joe has asked us to store the prayer guides. The kidney fund has helped many New Hampshire citizens to defray prescription drug costs associated with dialysis and kidney failure. The Council monthly 50/50 drawing tickets are sold for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 and profits from this raffle go to the state kidney fund.
