SACRED HEART OF JESUS PARISH WEBSTER, MASSACHUSETTS 01570 PARISH EVENTS/NEWS FROM THE RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY ST VINCENT DE PAUL MINUTE In today s Gospel, Jesus asks Do you also want to leave? We must ask ourselves if we really want to hear the good news of his love for us and for others. Is the word of God able to break into our consciousness, change us and call us to hear the cries of the poor? This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to hear the cries of the poor by assisting families, providing in food, for utility, rent and other bills. God Bless You! Psalms: The School of Prayer At the heart of the Bible are the Psalms, prayers from God that help us learn to pray. The Holy Spirit inspired them. Israel sang them. Christ himself prayed them, as did our Blessed Mother. These sacred hymns become our heartfelt response to God s loving and wondrous deeds for us. Their words captivate the imagination and draw us into a deeply personal encounter with God. Join Jeff Cavins, Sarah Christmyer, and Dr. Tim Gray as they show you how to establish a deeply personal dialogue with God through the Psalms. The new evangelization calls for followers of Christ who are unconditionally pro-life: who will acclaim, celebrate and serve the Gospel of life in every situation. A sign of hope is the increasing recognition that the dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil. STEWARDSHIP NOTE 2019 MASS BOOK The 2019 Mass book will be ready to book Mass intentions on the first business day of September. We will be keeping to the first business day of September as a standard yearly date. Please know that there are still dates available for this year to book, so please call the office if you'd like to book Masses for the remaining of 2018. If it does not please you to serve the Lord, decide today whom you will serve As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. (JOSHUA 24:15) When we commit to serve the Lord, we must be willing to become a partner in the work of the Lord. A partner is a person who invests time in prayer every day, joyfully participates in charitable works and generously supports the parish and Church mission. If we say we serve God, we must actually do something and not merely talk about it!
TWENTY FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME AUGUST 25~26, 2018 PARISH AND NEIGHBORHOOD PICNIC THANK YOU!!!!! To all who helped in many various ways with our annual picnic. It was a great success -which couldn't happen without dedicated souls who gave whatever time, treasure and talents they had. The generosity shown through financial assistance we received from gift cards, monetary and in-kind donations covered the expenses so the parish didn't have to pay for any part of the picnic. We enjoyed a memorable evening of fun and fellowship with parishioners and many wonderful neighbors who we were blessed to get to know a little better and gather as one community. Everyone got to enjoy good food, uplifting music, kids games, face painting and a pie eating contest. A special thank you to the Planning Committee who put in many hours behind the scene allowing for the day to go as smooth as it went. You all exhibited the true meaning of being a Steward of Christ. Most importantly, We thank the Good Lord and Mary our Mother who answered our prayers for the sun to come out. "Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive." Matthew 21:22 DIVINE MERCY MOMENT Jesus spoke to St. Faustina about His mercy: My daughter, do you think you have written enough about My mercy? What you have written is but a drop compared to the ocean. I am Love and Mercy itself. There is no misery that could be a match for My mercy, neither will misery exhaust it, because as it is being granted - it increases. The soul that trusts in My mercy is most fortunate, because I myself take care of it. (Diary 1273) The Divine Mercy Chaplet is prayed every Sunday after the 6pm Mass.
