Monthly Dedication State Chaplain Fr. O Hotto: This month, on December 8th, we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This feast celebrates that the Blessed Virgin, from the first moment of her conception, was kept free of original sin! The feast originated in the Eastern Church in the 8 th Century, and it began to be celebrated throughout the world when the dogma of the Immaculate Conception was defined by Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854. The Lord kept the Blessed Mother free from original sin to prepare her to be the Mother of the Savior. He was free from sin and he would be born of a woman free from sin. December 24 & 25, Christmas, celebrates that God became man, the Mystery of the Incarnation, to give us salvation.
