Our speaker will be Jackie Barron from Capitol Region Medical Center. She will speak on arthritis and tell us about the joint replacement program. Please join us. The 12 th Annual Golf Tournament takes place Friday, September 7! That means auction items are needed. Look 8
around your house for items you can donate (NO furniture please!). Mark your calendar for the Friday night pork steak dinner and auction following the tournament. Lots of fun and great food. Warren Witt will be our auctioneer. Tickets are only $10.00! Brotherhood has raised over $100,000 in the past 11 years. All proceeds go to various groups. Thanks to many of you who have helped in this great cause let s keep it going! Attention ladies the women of Grace Evangelical Free Church have invited Central Church women to their one-day retreat, Cozy Mountain Lodge Retreat. It will be held September 15, from 8:30 a.m. 2:00 p.m. They will serve breakfast and lunch and are asking for only a $5 donation to cover costs. Please contact Ruth Long by September 9 if you would like to attend or have any questions. The retreat takes place at Cedar City Lion s Club, 710 Sandstone, Jefferson City. The ladies of Second Christian Church are also coming make plans now to attend! Festival of Sharing will be holding Sharefests in 7 different locations this year instead of one big event at the Missouri State Fair Grounds as in the past. Our region will be held at Tipton United Methodist Church on September 22. At the Tipton Sharefest, people will have the opportunity to pack rice, pack hygiene kits, organize CSW kits, be part of a prayer team, or serve lunch. After packing projects are completed, we ll gather for lunch and worship. All activities start at 9:30 a.m. If anyone is interested in going, please contact one of the Mission and Outreach Ministry members (Susan Poettgen chair). We can carpool to Tipton for the workday. 9

Donated items must be exactly as listed below: 3 different cans of vegetables 14.5 oz. 3 cans tuna 5 oz. 3 pkgs. macaroni & cheese 3 different cans of fruit 14.5 oz. 1 can pasta sauce 1 jar peanut butter 3 cans chicken 12.5 oz. 1 lb. pasta Oktoberfest German Dinner takes place Friday, September 28, prepared and served by Central UCC. Faye Rinaldi and Mary Ann Wippermann are in charge along with help from Freda Maness, our dessert lady; the Elenor Circle; and many other volunteers. The menu consists of roast beef, German potato salad, coleslaw, green beans, applesauce, bread, pie, iced tea, lemonade, and coffee, along with a children s menu of hot dogs, chips, and other sides. Serving time is from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the church gym. Cost is $12 per adult (all you can eat), and $5 per child under age 10. We need volunteers (men and women) to help with all aspects of the meal. A detailed volunteer sign-up sheet is included in the bulletin and should be turned in by September 9. You can place it in the offering plate on Sunday mornings, or turn it in to the church office.
