Carl Kerkemeyer; Den. Tim Sullivan Women's Weekend November 12-15, 2015 at Sacred Heart Parish, Miami, OK Spiritual Directors: Msgr. Patrick Gaalaas; Den. Lamar Yarbrough. Background Cursillo weekends are open to any adult Catholic and are a great way to learn more about our Catholic Christian faith along with others from around the Diocese and be given helpful tools to live our faith in a fuller way. These weekends are called "cursillo's" which is a spanish word meaning "short course". The first "short course in Christianity" was held by a group of men studying with their Bishop to prepare for a pilgrimage to the tomb of St. James in Compostalla Spain in the 1940's. Their faith was enriched and they lived their Catholic faith fuller in a friendship community which affected others in a positive way. The spanish title of Cursillo has stuck ever since. The Cursillo weekend consists of a series of talks about the fundamental truths of our Catholic Christian faith - things that you may have learned long ago, but perhaps have forgotten or gotten a little fuzzy on over time, OR things you that you just never got the memo on. The weekends begin on Thursday night and wrap up on Sunday afternoon. They are very well organized, are inexpensive (a $100 donation is requested via an anonymous free-will offering, but not required), and even the food is great!
