September 22nd - 27th Prayer from Pope Francis For the Synod of Bishops on the Family October 4-25, 2015 Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendor of true love, to you we turn with trust. Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic Churches. Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and division: may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing. Holy Family of Nazareth, may the approaching Synod of Bishops make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God s plan. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, graciously hear our prayer

Open Parish Meeting There will be an Open Meeting for all parishioners to offer input into the appointment of a new Pastor for St. Barnabas Parish. Parishioners will be invited to indicate the skills and qualities they feel are necessary to lead the parish into the future and to share their thoughts on specific needs the parish may have. Msgr. James McNamara, the Vicar, the Area Dean and Msgr. Peter Pflomm, Director of Clergy Personnel, will be present to conduct and participate in the meeting. The Open Parish meeting for St. Barnabas Parish will be held on: Wednesday, February 4th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Holy Family Chapel. Word of Life The concerns for non-violence, sustainable development, justice and peace, and care for our environment are of vital importance for humanity. They cannot, however, be understood apart from profound reflection upon the innate dignity of every human life from conception to natural death: a dignity conferred by God Himself and thus inviolable. ~ Pope Benedict XVI, Welcoming Celebration by the Young People, July 17, 2008. Creation is sacred. It has sacramental meaning. It reflects God s glory. That includes our bodies. Our sexuality has the power to procreate, and shares in the dignity of being created in the image of God. We need to live accordingly.

January 11, 2015 Hi everyone! This is the page for St Barnabas Life Teen. I m Peggy Harnisch your youth minister!! Hi Everyone, This weekend we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord which is the end of the Christmas Season. Today s Gospel is short and to the point. It gives us time to think about the importance of what is happening here. Mark s Gospel helps us to focus on the relationships Jesus has with the Trinity. As we go deeper into January, it is a good time for us to focus on our own relationship with God. Are we living our lives in a way that pleases God? How are we treating people at school and at home? Jesus allowed himself to be baptized because he has become human and went through human experiences. Do we desire a relationship with Him as much as He wants one with us? Or do we want him to fit into our life where it is convenient for us? January is a great time to look at ourselves and see where we want to set some goals. My challenge to our youth especially is to work on our relationship with God. What does that mean? Let s start small - pray a little more this week. Maybe you d like to try reading your Bible a little each day. Maybe have a conversation each night with God. Watch how something small can change your life! This Sunday - everyone from 8th through 12th grade is invited to our first High School night of the year! We ll be in the School Cafeteria at 6:00. We meet until 7:30!! We hope you will stop down! Holy Hour/Dodgeball is Friday 1/16/15 at St. Ignatius! We will go as a group if we can please email Peggy if you are interested! Have a blessed week! ~ Peggy
