The Capitole Record October/November 2018 Page!5 Nation s Capital Chapter Executive Board Minutes of the Meeting Sunday, September 23, 2018 PRESIDENT: The meeting of the executive board of NCC met in the home of Lorraine Lasch in Manassas VA. Lorraine called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. Lorraine said that the only office still open is Representative. Ann Gibbons agreed to continue in that office. TREASURER/BUDGET: Kathy Bacskay reviewed the 2018 budget and shared the budget for 2019. Among future discussion items will be whether to continue an annual contribution to SDP foundation. SEMINAR: Seminar chair needs a volunteer. Members will be encouraged to volunteer for the seminar committee. After discussion, Sandy Scales will call Rosemary West to check her availability for a spring 2019 seminar at NCC. PUBLIC RELATIONS: Lorraine Lasch plans to schedule an NCC display in the Montclair Library and the Oakton Library may also be interested in a display. ART SHOW: Sandy Scales volunteered to chair. Marie Kirzl will be asked if she wishes to chair the art show again. Several members volunteered to help. MEMBERSHIP: Sandy Scales reported that there were 37 members registered in 2018 and 16 have renewed for 2019. The meeting adjourned at 3:40 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Rebecca Benton, Secretary LUNCHEON: The annual NCC Luncheon will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2019, in Virginia. The theme: Halloween! Ann Davis reported that the Dulles Holiday Inn has an adjacent executive conference center that may be very suitable for our event. There will be no roller carts available, though, so members needing one must bring their own. MEETING LOCATIONS: Ann Davis shared some information about Providence Recreation Center and availability for general membership meetings and paint ins. Their new scheduling policies limit the time in a room to 9-1 or 12-4. The center will also be closed on some of our usually monthly dates. It is proposed that we adjust and meet January 26 and hold a paint in on February 23. Easter time will shift our April date, but May, June, September and November 2019 seem to be okay. The center now limits scheduling to three months at a time in advance. NCC members will be asked to help look for alternative meeting spaces.

Foremost is the dearth of meeting places in our area. Providence Community Center has stated that we can have the meeting room from either 9AM - 1PM or 12-4PM. Also all of the dates we want may not be available. HOOT is holding its last convention in 2019 and has departed from the usual August time to 14-18 July resulting in us changing our Luncheon date to 27 July (voted on at the September meeting) It is becoming more difficult to conduct elaborate luncheons and therefor harder to get volunteers for the committee. The Board is seeking ways to modify this without destroying the elegance of the Luncheon. Seminar needs a chair and committee and input from you as to whether to hold seminars and what teachers to invite. Over the next couple of meetings we will be discussing the above items and would appreciate membership input, so please plan to attend. Not only will you be helping the Chapter, you will have a good time painting. Regards. Marie and John If someone tells you that you have enough art supplies and you don t need any more, stop talking to them. You don t need that kind of negativity in your life Anon
