Kealey Knight Letter Serving The Knights of Greater Ocean View www.ovknights.com Facebook Knights of Columbus Fr Robert B Kealey Council 3548 Volume 51, Issue 1 Grand Knight s Desk Dear Brother Knights and Family, I can t believe it s December already. It s getting cold, Advent starts, and Christmas will be here soon. What a great day the Oyster Roast was this year. Thanks to Dave Nelson and Team for putting on a very successful event. In 2008, PGK Bill Dewey instituted the Council raising 50 Thanksgiving Dinners for the needy. We finally did it and got the Council 50 dinners to the Holy Trinity Food Pantry. Adrienne and crew were overwhelmed with the amount of food that 50 dinners provides to her. Thanks to Tricia, PGK Bill Dewey, PGK Joe Hurd, Jerry and Mary Carmody, and a special thanks to the Saturday bar crew for going the extra mile in making this happen. As you run about this month for cheer, revelry, and shopping, don t ever forget Jesus Christ is the reason for the season. Keep in your prayers: Fr. McGivney, our troops, and all the sick and/or in distress Brothers and family. Go to Mass and pray the Rosary often. Upcoming Events Keeping Christ in Christmas As many of you know, the Christmas season also brings along the time for the annual Keeping Christ in Christmas campaign. Our Lecturer Steve Vetter will be at Holy Trinity to sell cards in support of this campaign over the next few Sundays. Please think about purchasing some wonderful Christmas cards, and help support this very important initiative. Annual Dues The Financial Secretary has begun mailing out annual dues statements. Please be on the lookout for them. As a reminder, Our annual dues are $50. Christmas Decorating Chris Klotz and I broke out the Christmas decorations and we have set up the trees in the Lobby and Bar. If you would like to help decorate further, please see Tricia or Chris.

Worthy Grand Knights: I am requesting that you ask your members to respond to our recent mailing of address labels to each Virginia Knight. It is also a good time for members to consider making a tax deductible donation to VKCCI before the end of the year. As everyone knows the use of hard mail has declined in recent years due to the usage of Internet services some of our members do not have a use for the address labels except for Christmas mail and an occasional bill payment. This is why we need your assistance in reminding your members to respond to our label program request or to make a tax exempt donation to VKCCI. Please consider copying (or amending) and including the following information in either your newsletter or in an email to your members. My Brother Knights, each of you should have recently received your address labels from VKCCI. I ask that during the season of the year you seriously consider a tax deductible donation to VKCCI as one of the charitable arms of the Virginia State Council. Upon submission of a grant request by the Grand Knight, VKCCI considers and makes grant donations to councils in Virginia for Virginia residents in need of financial assistance. Your council then distributes those funds to help pay the debt(s) of the individual in need. You may respond to this request by using the form enclosed with the address label package or by using any major credit card on the VKCCI web site. Thank you for your attention to this the First Principle of our Order. Fraternally, Michael J. Lazzuri, PSD President, VKCCI

It s time again for the Knights Annual Survey. This is information is very important to State and Supreme and they ask that each Knight fill out and turn in this form. I am required to turn this information into State at the January State mtg. Once you have completed your form, it may be turned in to any council officer or the KOC Office (Joyce) and she will put it into the GK mailbox. Please submit No Later Than December 25. Thank you
