FOOD = LOVE God's Love We Deliver(GLWD) is a non-sectarian agency located in Manhattan which prepares and delivers food to People Living With Aids in the 5 boroughs and Hudson County. GLWD has approached Temple Beth-EI to become one of its Neighborhood Meal Distribution Centers(NMDC). The food is prepared in the GL WD kitchen in Manhattan, and then taken to the NMDCs, where volunteers pick up the food and bring it to the clients. There are two ways in which we could provide assistance: 1) Serving as an NMDC, which would require a volunteer monitor to be at the Temple House Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon. The monitor will receive the food, check it(to make sure that the proper quantities have been delivered), distribute the packaged food into the bags provided for delivery, and hand the food off to the delivery volunteers. 2) Serving as delivery volunteers, who would pick up the food at the Temple House and bring it to a maximum of 4 destinations in Jersey City or Bayonne. A car would be required, and the route would take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. There are currently 3 routes that need volunteers to deliver on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Many ofglwd delivery volunteers work fulltime and make the deliveries during their lunch hours. GL WD will fully train all volunteers, and accept ultimate responsibility for coordinating the volunteers and the deliveries. If you are interested in serving as either a monitor, or as a delivery volunteer, please contact Rabbi Brickman, 201-333-4229. Please help us help those in need!
