ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING The Temple's annual congregational meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 1999 at 8:00 p.m. in the Nickelsporn Social Hall. All of the members of the congregation are urged to attend this very important annual meeting at which the Temple committees review their activities during the past year. We will also elect the officers and trustees, who will lead our congregation into the year 2000. This is an opportunity for every member of the Temple to help shape our future. Refreshments will be served. If you would like to attend, but need a ride, please call Maddie at the Temple, 333-4229. BROTHERHOOD BREAKFAST The Temple Brotherhood will hold its annual Spring Breakfast on Sunday, June 13 at 9:30 a.m. The highlight of the morning will be the drawing of the Brotherhood's annual 50/50 raffle. If you have not yet purchased your tickets, please do so immediately. If you need more tickets for yourself or for friends and family, please call the Temple office, and we will be glad to send you as many raffled books as you need. Of course, raffle tickets will be available on the morning of the breakfast for last minute purchases. There is no charge for the Brotherhood Breakfast, but reservations are required. Please call the Temple office, 333-4229, for more information or to reserve your place at breakfast, CANTORTRAVELSTOISRAELFORTHES~R Cantor Sergei Schwartz, his wife Lena, and their son, Ziv, will be returning to Israel to spend the summer with their family in Jerusalem. Cantor Schwartz's last services for the season will be on Friday evening, June 11 and Saturday morning, June 12. Please join us as we wish the Cantor's family a "bon voyage." FOOD = LOVE God's Love We Deliver(GLWD) is a non-sectarian agency located in Manhattan which prepares and delivers food to People Living With Aids in the 5 boroughs and Hudson County. GLWD has approached Temple Beth-EI to become one of its Neighborhood Meal Distribution Centers(NMDC). The food is prepared in the GL WD kitchen in Manhattan, and then taken to the NMDCs, where volunteers pick up the food and bring it to the clients. There are two ways in which we could provide assistance: 1) Serving as an NMDC, which would require a volunteer monitor to be at the Temple House Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon. The monitor will receive the food, check it(to make sure that the proper quantities have been delivered), distribute the packaged food into the bags provided for delivery, and hand the food off to the delivery volunteers. 2) Serving as delivery volunteers, who would pick up the food at the Temple House and bring it to a maximum of 4 destinations in Jersey City or Bayonne. A car would be required, and the route would take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. There are currently 3 routes that need volunteers to deliver on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Many ofglwd delivery volunteers work fulltime and make the deliveries during their lunch hours. GL WD will fully train all volunteers, and accept ultimate responsibility for coordinating the volunteers and the deliveries. If you are interested in serving as either a monitor, or as a delivery volunteer, please contact Rabbi Brickman, 201-333-4229. Please help us help those in need!
