Winnie Varghese will be our guest preacher and Adult Forum speaker to Kick off Trinity's annual Stewardship Appeal. Varghese is a Priest and Director of Justice and Reconciliation at Trinity Wall Street, New York. She oversees the domestics grants program; direct service and outreach from Trinity Church; and programming in areas of service and justice for Trinity Church. As well she is a blogger for the Huffington Post; author of Church Meets World; editor of What We Shall Become; and author of numerous articles and chapters on social justice and the church. Diocesan Convention: Gathering in Peace to Go Out with Joy November 16-17 Everyone is welcome to attend diocesan convention and experience all that Bloomington and its Monroe Convention Center have to offer, plus inspiring speakers, opportunities to share the energy of hundreds gathered together to celebrate the Eucharist with Bishop Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows, fellowship at the Friday night banquet and the fun of our newest tradition, the Dance Party, to be held in the magnificent Great Room. Delegates and clergy will conduct the business of the diocese, including important work resulting from this summer s General Convention, and there will be local mission opportunities for those who aren t delegates and an exciting youth program. Music of Grayston Ives, Kenneth Leighton, and Arvo Pärt. You are invited to bring photos or mementos of your beloved departed for a "Table of Remembrances" that will be assembled in the church. Age requirements: 15 and older. Tai Chi is a ancient Chinese self-defense martial art that is practiced today for it s health benefits. Tai Chi is a low impact and easily accessible physical exercise for body, mind and soul. Tai Chi with Mother Erin incorporates mindfulness meditation and body awareness as well as the basic learning the basic steps of the 24 step simple form of Tai Chi. Last week the Welcoming Team received the wonderful news that Jane s mother and 5 sisters arrived from Zambia! Exodus outfitted the apartment with the basics but there are many things they still need for their apartment. More importantly the family arrived with very few clothing items and no cold weather clothes. Jane s mom s name is Chola and her sisters are Mbombo (age 19), Mary (age 17), Anna (age 14), Chanda (age 11) and Luta (age 8). They have almost no clothing for winter. Vestry Nominees for the class of 2022 Vestry Nominees for the class of 2022 The nominating committee of the vestry is beginning the search for, and selection of, nominees for next year s vestry class to be elected at the Annual Parish Meeting on Sunday, January 27, 2019. The nominating committee of the vestry consists of the rector, the Junior and Senior Wardens, and the members of the vestry class of 2019 who will rotate off at the Annual Parish Meeting: James Cramer, John Craun, Joel Harrison, and Karen E. King. The vestry is the leadership council of the parish, and new vestry members are elected at the January annual meeting. They work closely with the rector to define the mission and direction of the parish and manage the parish s operations, fi- nances, and property. Vestry members are an example of commitment, participation, and support of the life of the parish. Over the three-year term, their responsibilities include: Representing the congregation as the fiduciary decision-making body of the parish; Serving as a council of advice and support to the rector and clergy of the parish; Serving as liaisons on commissions and as members of assigned committees; Attending monthly and special meetings, as well as retreats and training sessions; Assisting the clergy to seek out and promote lay leadership for present and future needs of the parish. A nominee for vestry must be a member of Trinity, a faithful worshipper and communicant, a pledger, active in the life and mission of Trinity, at least 21 1 2 years old on the date of the Annual Parish Meeting, and cannot be a person rotating off the vestry or the spouse or partner of a person remaining on the vestry. 6
